Smackdown Recap 12.16.06
Smackdown live from Boston, started off with a bang as WWE champion John Cena entered the arena to a roar from his hometown crowd. Cena explained he was there to see his hometown fans, with dad in the crowd. He also presented Michael Cole a few holiday gifts, such as a hard salami, a picture of David Hasselhoff and a bag of "salty nuts". Cena then explained he was there because of his upcoming Armageddon match where he will tag up with Batista to face Booker/Finlay. On cue, the king, Booker and Finlay arrived on stage with Sharmell to start trouble. After some banter the 2 headed to the ring to attack Cena. Just when it appeared he was about to get it, Batista's music came on and Batista rushed down to save the day. Teddy Long strutted out and informed Cena he would face Finlay tonight in a tune-up match for Sunday's PPV.
The tag-team combo of Kendrick/London & Jimmy Wang defeated Taylor, Regal and Gregory Helms. Wang had the pin over Helms, will this be indicative of Sunday's matchup where he goes for the title?
The Miz was in ring with friend Kristal. Miz had a buffet table with 3 covered platters on it. Miz informed the audience he would prove he can eat anything and isn't afraid of the Boogeyman. 1st tray was cow's tongue, 2nd was monkey brains and 3rd was a platter of worms. Miz couldn't bring himself to eat the worms. All of a sudden, Boogeyman's head popped up from the platter admist the worms. Miz and Kristal high-tailed it as Boogeyman's music played in a dark arena.
In a tag match prepping for Armageddon, Mr. Kennedy teamed with MVP to face the Undertaker and Kane. A hearse was parked on the top of the ramp. MVP and Kennedy entered seeing the hearse with fear. Then Undertaker and Kane arrived. It was a good match for a while and appeared the brothers had the advantage. Undertaker began battling MVP outside the ring. A count out occurred. Mr. Kennedy took the opportunity to beat down Kane outside the ring and on the ramp. With Kane layed out, Kennedy got in the hearse and prepared to run him over. MVP ran in front and began kicking Kane. Kennedy told him move and MVP did. About to rev up, the arena lights went dark, Undertaker's music came on. Lights came back, and Undertaker was seated in the passenger seat next to Kennedy. Kennedy exits car and stands with MVP on ramp, as Kane rises back up. MVP and Kennedy ran out in fear.
Chavo faced off against Funaki, after calling out Chris Benoit to apologize to Vickie Guerrero. Benoit stayed at ringside in a suit. After the match Benoit entered the ring and managed to put a figure four on Chavo. Vickie entered the ring and slapped Benoit several times. Benoit just gave an evil smirk, then let go of the hold to go after Vickie.
In the main event, Cena faced off against Finlay. After an appearance by Little Bastard, Cena threw the leprechaun at Finlay but missed and he landed on ring announcer JBL. Little Bastard began kicking at JBL and took his hat. Cena and Finlay exchanged moves for a while. Little Bastard tried to hand a chair to Finlay from outside the ring. Finlay went to use it but Cena countered and knocked it out of his hands. Cena delivered an FU and the pin for the victory. Booker then entered the ring to begin the royal beatdown on Cena. After a while, Batista entered again to save Cena and show they will be a tag team force at the Pay Per View.
Should be a good match at the PPV.
Other results; Vito defeated Sylvan; Matt Hardy defeated Joey Mercury.
