For all purposes here, the John Cena injury seems to be the real deal. Vince McMahon has pulled the wool over some of our eyes before with various announcements and stunts. Normally when a show starts with Vince making a "serious announcement" in the ring, such as the Benoit tragedy and now Cena, you can believe it's real. Not only that, but Vince made the statements on a usually live TV show, which gets the lowest ratings of the 3 brands,. This seems to indicate WWE wanted to get the word out as soon as possible after Raw and before No Mercy.
