Two Wrestlemania 24 Matches Full of Surprise
When it comes down to it, Wrestlemania 24 is going to offer us some potentially great surprises. But they won't be the Mayweather-Show battle, the WWE title Triple Threat match or World Heavyweight match that give us the biggest surprise factor (although they could play a part). It won't be from special guest celebrities, Snoop Dogg or Kim Kardashian. The biggest and best WM24 surprises should come from the Money in the Bank Ladder match, and the 24 man Battle Royal to earn #1 contender spot against Chavo's ECW title.
With Money in the Bank, WWE fans learned the unfortunate news that Jeff Hardy has been suspended 60 days. This means the high flying fan favorite won't partake in what's become a great Wrestlemania tradition. Left in the field are CM Punk, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho, Mr. Kennedy and Carlito. Who will fill that 6th spot? Fans and wrestling writers have speculated it could now include Elijah Burke. It also gives room for a surprise return by a new or former WWE superstar, such as Matt Hardy (if he's able to compete). Another name to throw into the mix is Kane, who always works well in any match that involves mayhem, such as ladders. The winner of Money in the Bank could be a repeat, as Mr. Kennedy takes back what he had in his clutches a year ago, the much coveted brief case. For now my money is on ECW star Punk or Benjamin to take the briefcase.
Then there is the 24 Man Battle Royal, which was announced by Armando Estrada on ECW Tuesday night. This Wrestlemania match will have 24 superstars from the Raw, Smackdown and ECW rosters competing in an over the top rope battle royal. The winner of the match earns an immediate title match against Chavo Guerrero following the contest. Again, this leaves the wide open speculation that someone new could capture the ECW title at Wrestlemania. Maybe Smackdown's Matt Hardy makes a surprise return to win it. Popular opinion may say that CM Punk will be in both of these WM24 matches and end up somehow facing Chavo for the ECW title. One scenario could have Chavo interfere in Money in the Bank, costing Punk the briefcase. Then Punk triumphantly wins the Battle Royal and goes on to defeat Chavo for the ECW title. Of course, throw in the idea that Shelton Benjamin ends up winning Money in the Bank, then immediately cashes in his MITB contract to beat up Punk and take the ECW title.
As you can see with these two matches, the possibilities are endless and will make for a very interesting Wrestlemania 24.
