WWE's Latest Business Deals


The WWE has been busy in terms of recent coroporate deal-making. Last week the company was heavily promoting its way in Japan to bring more Japanese fans into the WWE universe. WWE has also been making deals to bring its TV shows into more Latin American households. WWE and Cable Station Mun2 received an away September 15th for Excellence in Multi-Cultural Marketing Award, presented by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. The award came as a result of an initiative started in January to celebrate Raw's 15 year anniversary. A contest was held to give a female Raw viewer the WWE RAW-themed quinceañera party of her dreams. The prize was awarded March 8, complete with limousine, entertainment and special appearances by WWE star Carlito and WWE Diva Melina.

More recently, TV Azteca and WWE announced the deal to broadcast Smackdown starting Friday October 3rd. This will be in conjunction with Smackdown's big debut on MyNetworkTV.

Beginning Friday, Oct. 3, WWE SmackDown! will be broadcast to millions of TV households at 10 p.m. CST Fridays on Azteca 7 in Mexico.

Exclusive to TV Azteca, SmackDown! features a star-studded roster of WWE's globally renowned superstars, including Triple H, Undertaker, Edge, Jeff Hardy, Big Show, Mr. Kennedy and Carlito.

SmackDown! is consistently one of the highest-rated shows among the male demographic in the United States, showcasing action, excitement, drama and athleticism which have made WWE the most popular sports entertainment property in the world.

''WWE is excited to be bringing WWE SmackDown! to millions of TV households in Mexico,'' Shane McMahon, WWE Executive Vice President, Global Media, said in a release. ``This exclusive agreement demonstrates the strength of our business relationship with TV Azteca as a key global network partner.''

WWE has also inked a deal with Kids Media India, a subsidiary of Dubai-based media group Spacetoon. KMI has previously been a licensee of various cartoon character products ranging from Spiderman, X-Men, The Hulk, Iron Man, Ghost Rider and Ninja Turtles. The partnership is expected to propel annual revenues generated from WWE-licenced consumer goods in India, from one million to $10 million, and is expected to happen within the next three years.
