New GM's for Raw, Smackdown & ECW
Within just two days the General Managers for Raw, ECW and Smackdown have been readjusted. Vickie Guerrero was previously doing double duty as the GM for both Monday and Friday nights, but was told to make a choice of one show by the WWE Board. Vickie chose the illustrious position as Raw's leader, saying it needed a breath of fresh air and her high level of "professionalism". That professionalism includes forgetting to announce matches and interrupting the commentators on live TV to make sure she gets it right.
With Vickie out of the Smackdown GM slot, ECW's Thedore Long announced on ECW that he would be taking over on Friday nights once again. Long served as GM for Smackdown for some time, and you may recall he lost his top spot after the whole wedding fiasco with Kristal Marshall where Teddy had been given some bad Viagara by who else? Vickie Guerrero. After his time off, Teddy did return to Smackdown in a "Driving Miss Vickie" role as he had to push around her wheelchair and grab drinks or food for her. It was definitely not a position befitting a guy of Teddy Long's skills. He brings much more personality and poise to his roles while giving the fans the matches they want.
And the WWE Universe has reason to cheer over ECW as its new GM was announced. Teddy let everyone know that his former assistant, the beautiful blond diva, Tiffany (Taryn Terrell) would now be in charge as "interim-GM". Who's going to complain about Tiffany getting more TV time? In her first order of business she arranged a Championship Chase to determine #1 Contender for Jack Swagger's ECW title at Backlash. A Fatal Fourway match saw Finlay pin Mark Henry, meaning Henry's out of the Chase. Next week, Finlay, Tommy Dreamer and Christian battle in a Triple Threat with the winners moving on to a traditional one-on-one match to determine Swagger's PPV opponent. Early prediction is Tommy Dreamer wins it due to his storyline where he needs to win the ECW title before his contract ends in June. Christian may be the smarter money as he's the newest of the stars and probably should be the "face" of the ECW.
This coming Monday will be the 2009 WWE Draft so stay tuned for more personnel changes on the various WWE rosters!
