Raw Preview 04.06.09

With the culmination of the huge Pay-Per-View, Wrestlemania 25, WWE Raw had several of its members victorious at the event. Two members of the roster emerged as brand new champions while one could become a future champion by cashing in a certain briefcase. CM Punk was able to rise highest amongst a total of 8 men all battling in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. The match involved superstars from Raw, Smackdown and ECW all trying to grab the illustrious prize hanging high above the ring. Up for grabs was of course the Money in the Bank briefcase which contains a WWE title contract for the winning superstar to cash in at any time, any place for the title of their choice. Fighting for that prize were Finlay, Mark Henry, Kane, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Christian and last year's winner, CM Punk. It seemed as if Captain Charisma was going to claim the prize, until Kane chokeslammed him off the ladder. With Kane and Punk remaining up on the ladder, it was CM Punk who managed to deliver kicks to Kane and knock him out of the way. Punk retrieved the briefcase and became a back-to-back Money in the Bank winner. Now that Punk holds the coveted briefcase, will he reveal his plans to cash it in? Which title will CM Punk attempt to take and when?

In other Wrestlemania news, JBL claimed he would make history at the huge event this past Sunday. In the match, JBL tried to gain an early advantage by knocking Rey Mysterio down before the bell. As Rey regained himself and the bell rang, the match was on. However, to JBL's surprise, Rey Mysterio was fast and furious, able to hit him with the 619, and then splash off the top ropes for a pinfall. The Mysterio win came in just around 21 seconds, creating what you could call a historic moment for JBL, despite him being on the losing end. Promptly after Rey had finished celebrating his brand new Intercontinental Title in the ring, JBL grabbed a mic to make his big announcement. Seeming defeated and discouraged, the down and out John Bradshaw Layfield yelled out the words "I Quit!" even though his match against Mysterio was not of that nature. So does this mean that JBL is officially done as a wrestler? Will the self-proclaimed wrestling God give further notice of his plans to the WWE Universe on Raw? Or have the fans seen and heard the last of him?

And finally, Raw once again has the World Heavyweight Title within its ranks. The triple threat match between Edge, Big Show and John Cena saw some amazing action with John Cena seeming to be down for the count. Edge tried to retain his title but Big Show was able to break things up. From there, Edge and Big Show began to do battle, and with Edge jumping on Show's back it seemed he might put him down with the Sleeper hold. John Cena displayed his power and strength as he lifted both men up together. Edge was able to slip off, and Cena delivered the Attitude Adjustment to Show, then did the same to Edge. Cena then grabbed the pinfall victory and regained the belt that Edge took away in the Elimination Chamber months ago. Now with John Cena as the World Heavyweight Champion, what will be in store next for him? Will a new competitor step up to challenge Cena?

Don't forget the 2009 WWE Draft is also right around the corner. This could be the last week of action on Raw for several competitors! Tune in to the show at 9PM EST on USA this Monday night!
