3 Hour Raw Results 12/19/06

In what appeared to be a 3 hour RAW to promote matches for New Year's Pay Per View and also to promote Rocky and K-Fed, there was alot of hype thrown together. There was even an appearance by a "fake" George W Bush impersonator, who came down to the ring to hang out with Cryme Time. The impersonator spoke about how Kanye West said he (Bush) doesn't like black people, but that it's not true. The jokester then went on to make jokes about Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell, almost as if to try to stir up some good ol' WWE controversy.

The Battle Royal itself was controversial. My pick Umaga was not even in the match and I'm not sure why? He would probably have emerged victorious above all that competition. I guess it was more to set the stage for later events involving RKO/DX, Cena and Umaga. Edge won the Battle Royal cheaply, when he snuck out of the ring under the low rope. Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton were the last 2 men in the ring. HBK managed to eliminate Orton. Thinking he won Michaels staggered near the ropes, where Edge climbed back up and pulled Michaels over and out..Winner, Edge.

In other matches, Kenny defeated Rick Flair, and then refused to shake Flair's congratulating hand. A tag team handicap match pitted Johnny Nitro, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas vs. the Hardy's. The object was payback for what happened to Joey Mercury at the PPV (he had about 20 or so stitches and swollen eyes from that ladder match). Melina was her usual screaming self.

K-Fed made an appearance. But he let us know that now his name is not K-Fed, that was just something the media named him and the public bought into. K-Fed rambled on about how he is Kevin Federline and will now beat Cena down at their upcoming match.

We got a nice filler interview from Sylvester Stallone to promote Rocky Balboa, the movie in theaters Wednesday. King asked him hard hitting questions like "could the WWE ever do something like The Cotender?". King, wasn't Tough Enough 1-10 and Diva Search 1-5 the same idea?

In women's action, there was a non-title bout between Victoria and Mickie James. Victoria managed to gain the advantage on Mickie James, who had some "nice looking" moves and pinfalls. Victoria got the Widow's Peak on Mickie and pinned her leaving her unsconscious. Victoria checked that final name off her list of women to beat and added the words "Championship Belt" to the end of her list.

Edge fought Cena in a title match which mainly set up the later main event. Interference occurred when Cena was trying to FU Edge near the ropes. Edge held the corner ropes and as Cena pulled him away he knocked the ref out with Edge's foot. Randy Orton ran down to assist and RKO'd Cena, then threw the ref back in. DX then made their appearance and threw Orton down outside the ring and HHH pedigreed Edge. Cena managed to get the pinfall and win. But temporary commissioner Johnathan Coachman announced all of them would participate in a 6 man tag. Cena and DX vs Umaga and Rated RKO.

The main bout was not bad at all. Shawn Michaels ended up getting beat around by his opponents for a while until he finally managed to tag HHH, who came in and did some major damage on Umaga. He continuously punched the monster, then clothesline after clothesline. Finally a flying shoulder knocked down the monster. It would be great to see Umaga vs HHH in a bout. Everyone got into the ring in a melee, and Cena flew at Umaga taking him out of the ring. The 2 battled off the ramp. Cena tossed Umaga threw a "glass" window area near the top of the ramp, then the 2 disappeared fighting. Meanwhile RKO decided to disqualify themselves and tossed Triple H into the metal ring steps. Edge grabbed a chair and bloodshed began. After several repeated smashings to the heads of HBK and HHH, the last images we saw were HBK and HHH lying in pools of their blood, as officials were there to assist.

Amazing how Jerry the King can't grab a chair out of Orton's hands when Lawler's standing behind him, King can merely yell "stop it Randy". Oh the carnage...

What a night! The main event and the WWE CHAMPIONSHIP match was great! John Cena, as well as DX, definately pulled their weight last night. Cena defeated not one but two so-called "Dominant" men in the business, and after the beating that DX took from the dumb-named, Rated RKO, they deserve a lot of credit. I can assure you that at NY's Revolution, Rated RKO better be ready to suck it or else, and if Umaga wants some he can come get some, but I'm not so sure that he will like what he gets.

I agree..I won't be surprised to see DX take those tag belts..I think its what everyone wants right about now and I can see Edge/Orton getting a bit of tension.
