ECW Recap 09.04.07

Recap of ECW from Cincinatti, Ohio:

ECW opened with highlights of last week's Fatal Fourway match to determine the #1 contender for John Morrison's title. Punk won by pinning the Miz in the ring with Boogeyman and Big Daddy V out of the ring. Joey Styles said tonight CM Punk will challenge Morrison for his title.

Boogeyman vs. Matt Striker

Striker came walking out dressed to wrestle, but carrying a mic. Striker told Boogeyman he would be victorious tonight and then introduced Big Daddy V. V got up on the side apron distracting Boogeyman, and Striker attacked from behind. Boogey was able to get control and clotheslined Striker down, causing him to roll under the bottom rope.

Striker got back into the ring and ran at Boogeyman, who grabbed his foot then clotheslined him down. Striker again rolled out of the ring to recuperate. Back in the ring Boogeyman attacked Striker in the corner then whipped him to the other. Boogeyman splashed onto Striker in the corner. Striker left the ring yet again, and Boogeyman began to chase him around the ring. Boogeyman was met by a hard clothesline from Big Daddy V around the corner of the ring. The ref called for the bell for a DQ on Big Daddy V. V then picked up Boogeyman on his shoulders and slammed him backwards onto the outside floor. V stood over Boogeyman as Striker raised his arm.

Winner: Boogeyman wins due to a DQ on Big Daddy V.

Armando Estrada met with CM Punk in the back office. Estrada told Punk he's had chance after chance after chance to win the ECW title from John Morrison. Estrada told Punk tonight would be his last chance at the title and wished him luck.

Balls Mahoney vs. The Miz

Styles mentioned that Balls Mahoney will be making a cameo on "Who Wants to be a Superhero?" on Sci Fi this Thursday. The Miz came down to the ring escorted by Extreme Expose. Balls gave a long look to Kelly Kelly as she walked over to take a seat with Layla and Brooke near the announce table.

Miz tried to punch Mahoney in the corner, but Balls blocked him and then clotheslined him off the ropes. Miz finally recovered and was able to clothesline Mahoney down. Miz put Mahoney in a headlock down on the mat, but Mahoney managed to get to his feet. Miz tried to knee Mahoney several times then whipped him to the corner. Mahoney responded by elbowing Miz when he ran at him, then clotheslined Miz. Balls landed a series of punches on Miz, then side-suplexed him. Mahoney put his face down as if he was going to flip Miz off the ropes. Miz kneed Mahoney in the face and then did his finisher "The Reality Check" to score the pinfall.

Miz grabbed a mic and yelled that "Balls Mahoney was the Loser of the match". Kelly Kelly went into the ring to check on Mahoney with the ref. Miz looked puzzled then got into the ring with Layla and Brooke following. They told Kelly to leave with them as Miz took her by the hand.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Balls Mahoney.

John Morrison shown backstage with his ECW title belt. Morrison said Punk is a loser who hardly looks like a man. Morrison said he is the Tuesday Night Delight, the Shaman of Sexy and tonight he will prove once and for all why he is the ECW champ.

Replays shown from last night's Raw where the rest of the McMahon family confronted him in the ring. Linda, Stephanie and Shane all came down and asked Vince to change and deal with his issues. Mr. Kennedy came down to the ring claiming to be Vince's son. Soon after Vince and Kennedy hugged, a man came out to the ramp who was the lawyer for the woman suing Vince McMahon. The lawyer said the DNA results have come back confirming Vince's son is a WWE superstar but that it's not Mr. Kennedy. The lawyer delivered the message "things are looking up" as a clue about the identity of Vince's son.

Stevie Richards & Tommy Dreamer vs. Elijah Burke & Kevin Thorn

Thorn slapped Richards then started kicking him down in the corner. Thorn missed an elbow drop allowing Richards to work on him and tag in Dreamer for a doubleteam. Thorn regained advantage and knocked Dreamer down off the ropes. Burke tagged in and tried to keep things going but Dreamer knocked him down. Burke finally threw Dreamer to the ropes and Thorn kneed him from behind. Thorne tagged in start beating up Dreamer.

Dreamer finally managed to escape and tripped Thorn, causing him to hit the bottom turnbuckle face first. Richards tagged in as did Burke. Richards began to knock Burke down in the ring, then knocked Thorn off the apron. Richards had momentum and looked to be about to win, but Thorn came back into the ring and tossed Richards shoulder first into the corner ringpost. Dreamer entered the ring and clotheslined Thorn and the 2 men fell over the ropes to the outside. Burke capitalized on Richards still face first in the corner by running at him fast and delivering the Elijah Express.

Winners: Elijah Burke and Kevin Thorn win via pinfall over Stevie Richards and Tommy Dreamer.

Styles and Tazz discussed how tonight is do or die for CM Punk. Highlights of the rivalry between Punk and Morrison were shown, with Morrison pinning Punk at Summerslam. Morrison cheated using the ropes for leverage. Punk's victory in the Fatal Fourway last week was also shown. CM Punk then came down the ramp to the ring for the match.

CM Punk vs. John Morrison (ECW Title Match)

Morrison and Punk grappled early, with Punk trying for a quick pin. Punk elbowed Morrison down off the ropes, then followed with an armbar takedown. Morrison finally gained control and started to beat up Punk in the corner. Punk managed to do a dropkick to the head of Morrison in the opposite corner, then tried for a pin with Morrison escaping.

Punk started to chop away at the chest of Morrison, then whipped him hard to the opposite corner. Punk with a suplex and another failed pin. Punk got up and went over to Morrison on the mat, but Morrison grabbed Punk's tights. Morrison pulled Punk face first onto the bottom ropes. Punk and Morrison fought more and eventually Punk got on the side apron. Morrison tried to go outside the ring and grab Punk's legs, but Punk kicked him in the face, then did a springboard off the ropes. Punk landed on Morrison near the bottom of the ramp and ECW hit commercial break.

ECW returned with Punk holding Morrison down on the mat in a headlock. Morrison got to his feet and elbowed Punk in the stomach. Punk whipped Morrison to the corner, then ran at him. Morrison flipped Punk over and onto the side apron. Punk tried to jump off the top ropes at Morrison, but he grabbed Punk and slammed him down to the mat.

Morrison got Punk seated near the ropes then used the ropes to dropkick Punk out of the ring. Morrison and Punk got back in the ring and battled more. Punk tried to rollup cover Morrison but Morrison escaped then kneed Punk in the face. Morrison started punching away at Punk and then pinned again. Morrison continued to dominate and climbed to the top rope. Punk got to his feet and began to punch Morrison, then climbed the ropes and suplexed him off. The ref counted both men as they finally got to their feet. Punk punched Morrison and clotheslined him down several times. Punk with a spinning kick off the ropes and another 2 count. Punk used a barrage of moves on Morrison, but couldn't score the pin. Morrison finally knocked Punk down then did a flip off the ropes onto him but couldn't score a 3 count.

Morrison tried for a seated cover on Punk near the ropes, grabbing the rope for leverage. The ref stopped the count at 2 when he saw Morrison's hand on the ropes. Punk and Morrison battled more in the center of the ring, with Punk finally able to get Morrison on his shoulders and deliver the GTS! Punk wins the ECW title!

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over John Morrison to become the new ECW champion!
