Raw Recap 02.11.07


Raw recap from Texs:

Hornswoggle vs. Mr. McMahon
No DQ

Footage shown of last week's "Kiss My Ass" ceremony with Mr. McMahon trying to force his son Hornswoggle to kiss his ass. Finlay intervened to stop Hornswoggle from kissing up, so Mr. McMahon set up tonight's match.

Vince told his son to stand center of the ring with him to start. Vince shoved Hornswoggle down to the ropes twice to start things off, then Vince flexed. Vince got down on one knee and offered Hornswoggle a free shot to slap his face. Hornswoggle said no at first, then after stopping himself several times finally slapped Vince in the face. Vince got angry and took off his belt to hit Hornswoggle. All of a sudden as Vince chased Hornswoggle around the ring, Finlay came running down to the ring. Vince exited the ring as Finlay got in.

Vince grabbed a mic and yelled at Finlay for interfering in his family matter. Vince said Finlay is about to throw his career away for nothing. Vince was about to tell Finlay he was fired, but gave Finlay a chance to leave on his own. Vince said he would finish his family business. Vince then called Finlay a "coward" as he was about to leave. Finlay stopped and turned back at Vince with a grin, then clocked him with the shilaleigh. Finlay motioned for Horney to go to the corner ropes. Finlay held Vince down and Hornswoggle frogsplashed him to grab the pinfall.

An angry Vince McMahon held his neck down on the mat and glared up the ramp at Hornswoggle and Finlay.

Winner: Hornswoggle wins via pinfall over Vince McMahon.




Backstage Vince was being checked on by medical staff. William Regal came up to ask if he can do anything for him and Vince told Regal to get some dismissal papers ready so they can fire Finlay.

JBL vs Chris Jericho

The two grappled to start things off with the ref breaking them up near the ropes. JBL and Y2J continued grappling again. JBL got in a cheapshot thumb to the eye. Jericho finally fought back and knocked JBL out of the ring where he continued to toss JBL around. Y2J tossed JBL face first into the stairs. Jericho continued to assault JBL when they got back into the ring, even biting his forehead. Jericho slapped on Walls of Jericho, but JBL got to the ropes.

Jericho dropkicked JBL off the side of the apron and continued to attack outside. Back in the ring Jericho had JBL in the corner, but JBL gave a thumb to the eye again. JBL was also able to catch Jericho with his boot as Y2J jumped off the ropes. Raw hit commercial with Y2J down in the ring. When Raw returned, JBL hit a massive clothesline to knock Jericho to the mat. JBL used another clothesline from Hell, then started to attack Y2J in the corner. JBL held Jericho in a sleeper hold for some time and forced him down to the mat for a near pin.

JBL placed Jericho on the corner ropes and punched at him. JBL climbed up to try to suplex but Jericho blocked twice. Y2J hit a headbutt on JBL then jumped off the ropes to knock JBL down. The two men slowly got to their feet and Jericho gained momentum with shoulder blocks off the ropes. Jericho hit a missile dropkick off the ropes but it wasn't enough for the pin. After a DDT Jericho tried a pin but JBL grabbed the ropes. JBL tried to run at Jericho but Y2J ducked and pushed him to the corner. Jericho finally grabbed JBL and dropped him down on his knees to collect the pin.

After the win, Umaga came down and got into the ring, sneak attacking Y2J. Umaga gave a Samoan Spike to Jericho, then looked at JBL as he stood up. Umaga grabbed JBL and Samoan Spiked him down to the mat as well.

Winner: Chris Jericho wins by pinfall over JBL.

Commercial shown for this Sunday's No Mercy with the emphasis on John Cena trying to recapture the WWE title he never lost.




Jim Ross mentioned tonight's Cena vs. Mark Henry match. Mike Adamle was reporting live from within the crowd. Adamle discussed how Cena is a man on a mission to regain his WWE title from a man who nearly ended his career. Footage shown from Cena becoming injured and his road to recovery after surgery. Cena showed up at #30 in the Royal Rumble to win the title shot. Cena tried for a match on the Raw the next night. Orton told Cena "you're on for No Way Out".

William Regal pounded on Mr. McMahon's door backstage. Vince came out with an ice bag on his neck. Regal told him he'd go grab Finlay and beat him up, then bring a bloody Finlay back to kiss Vince's feet and ass. Vince decided there would be no firing tonight. Vince said instead Finlay can watch next week as Vince goes one on one with Hornswoggle in a steel cage.




A commercial was shown for John Cena to promote a drug free WWE.

Brian Kendrick vs Paul Burchill w/Katie Lea

Katie presented Burchill for his debut. Katie was hanging all over Paul but said he was her brother. Katie said all her life all that's made her happy is seeing her brother cause other people's pain.

Kendrick and Burchill went back and forth for a bit, before Burchill knocked Kendrick towards the ropes. Katie came over and Kendrick shoved her away. Burchill attacked Kendrick after. Burchill was able to duck when Kendrick flew at him, then grabbed Kendrick to stretch his arms out. Burchhill kicked Kendrick in the back to make him hit face first. To end things Burchill used a swinging neckbreaker followed by the pin.

Winner: Paul Burchill wins via pinfall over Brian Kendrick.

Mark Henry vs. John Cena

Randy Orton joined Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler at ringside for the match, and told them that Mark Henry will make his job even easier for No Way Out.

In a tough match, Henry had seemed to gain the upperhand using a sleeper type submission to squeeze Cena down to the mat. Cena regained energy and broke out. Cena was able to move away when Henry charged at him in the corner. Cena tripped him down and applied the STFU, eventually causing Henry to tap.

After winning the match, Cena grabbed a mic and went out to talk to Orton at the announcers table. Cena informed Orton that he is back to 100%. Cena told Orton he's more focused than ever and that Orton is "the hunted" this time. Cena said there will be "no way out" for Orton this Sunday. Cena backed up the ramp posing for fans and an angry Orton glared at him, still sitting with JR and Lawler.

John Cena wins via submission over Mark Henry.




Ad shown for Wrestlemania featuring various highlights and saying the big PPV is just 48 days away.

Mr. Kennedy came down to the ring to ask Ric Flair to forefeit their match scheduled for No Way Out. Flair came out to a cheering crowd wearing a suit. In the ring, the two got face to face. Kennedy asked Flair what it's gonna be. Flair told Kennedy he was part of the wrestlers who paved a way for future generations like Kennedy. Flair said there's no way he would come out and give up the match.

Kennedy said if Flair knew what was good for him, he'd forefeit. Flair said his answer was still no. Flair discussed his wrestling accomplishments as World Champ 16 times. Flair said Kennedy will have a great future but not at Flair's expense. Flair told Kennedy he needs to beat him to get where he is. Flair exclaimed that he'd be in the match this Sunday and Kennedy gave a cheapshot to the injured leg of Flair then taunted Flair using his in--ring walk/shuffle. Kennedy backed up the ramp wtth Flair still down in the ring.

Raw Rewind showed events from earlier with Finlay interfering in the Vince vs. Hornswoggle match. Vince was about to fire Finlay, but Finlay ended up hitting Vince with the shilaleigh. Hornswoggle got the Tadpole Splash off the ropes for the win.

Maria vs. Melina

Jillian Hall joined Melina at ringside, while Santino accompanied Maria to the match. Santino sat with JR and Lawler during the matchup.

Maria showed impressive moves early including a handstand to kick Melina in the head. Melina was able beat up Maria in the corner an center of the ring knocking her to the mat. Melina applied some sort of submission move to Maria in the ring, but Maria eventually escaped to shove her back. Maria shoved Melina to the corner then ducked a clothesline. Maria threw several cltoheslines at Melina, then was later able to hit a bulldog off the corner ropes. Maria had the match about won, but Jillian Hall went over to Santino and grabbed him. Jillian began to passionately kiss Santino so Maria would be distracted. Melina took advantage by rolling up Maria for a pin and holding her shorts.

After the match Santino apologized for what just happened. Santino also told Maria to choose between him or Playboy. Santino told Maria she has just 1 week to make up her mind about it. Marella said unlink the crowd, he really loves her. Marella gave Maria a passionate kiss in the ring then left.

Winner: Melina wins via pinfall over Maria.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler covered the matches going on for this Sunday's No Way Out, including Rey Mysterio vs Edge for World Heavyweight title, Cena vs Orton for WWE title and the 2 elimination chambers.

Footage shown as a promo for Triple H as one of the wrestlers entering the chamber at No Way Out. As the promo ended Triple H said the "king of kings will be back on his throne".

Promo shown for Candice Michelle announcing she is returning to Raw soon.

Jeff Hardy vs. Shawn Michaels

In a tuneup for the Elimination Chamber, two of the superstars involved met head to head.

Early on, Hardy knocked HBK out of the ring, then went to jump over the ropes on him. HBK moved away then slapped Jeff in the face after he landed. Jeff slapped Michaels back, then got into the ring to await his opponent. Hardy was able to gain momentum early with a shoulder block and armbar takedown. Hardy kept HBK down to the mat briefly.

Michaels and Hardy went back and forth from the two corners, gaining the upperhand on each other. Jeff was able to get HBK down again with a side headlock takeover. Jim Ross noted that Hardy was putting a lot of pressure on HBK's neck. HBK escaped and was able to throw Jeff at the ropes. Jeff held onto the top rope and pulled himself back in, but HBK was there to clothesline him down. The two continued to battle and Hardy knocked HBK out of the ring, then did a slide dropkick into him. Jeff left the ring then got onto the crowd barrier. Jeff ran around at and jumped at HBK, but HBK caught him for a powerslam. Raw went to break with the two men layed out.

Raw returned and Michaels was in control in the ring using elbow drops on Hardy. Michaels worked on the hurt back of Jeff, and whipped him into the corner hard. HBK kneed Hardy in his back several times then stuck his knee into Jeff's back to put him into a submission. Jeff withstood the brutal move and elbowed Michaels to break it. Hardy and Michaels traded chops and punches at one point, and Michaels got a swinging neckbreaker on Hardy off the ropes. At one point, HBK put a Half Boston Crab on Hardy, but Jeff managed to get to the bottom rope.

Michaels missed on an elbow drop off the corner ropes and Jeff went for a pin. HBK just barely kicked out, but Hardy kept momentum somewhat. Michaels finally connected on an elbow drop, then set up for Sweet Chin Music. Jeff ducked the kick and went for Twist of Fate. Michaels countered and brought Jeff to the mat for a figure four submission. Jeff again got to the bottom ropes after being punished by the move. Michaels went to grab Hardy's legs twice for a submission again, but Jeff kicked him back. Jeff was able to stand up and eventually score the Twist of Fate. With Michaels down, Jeff did the Swanton off the corner to pick up the win!

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall over Shawn Michaels.
