Smackdown Recap 2.08.08

Smackdown Recap from Corpus Chris:

Batista started off Smackdown coming to the ring with a mic in hand. Michael Cole interviewed him and asked about his Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out. Batista mentioned how there will be a ton of monsters in the chamber looking to take him out. As Batista was continuing all of a sudden MVP's theme music came on and he came to the ring to interrupt. MVP got into Batista's face about talking trash. As the two men were arguing, Big Daddy V came down the ramp with Matt Striker speaking. Striker told both MVP and Batista that Big Daddy V will crush everyone in the chamber so he can headline Wrestlemania. As Striker continued speaking, Khali came down to the ring with manager/translator Singh.

Khali began yelling indistinguishably at all 3 men in the ring. Singh took the mic to say their attempts will be futile. All of a sudden, Finlay and Hornswoggle came down to the ring. Finlay said he's there to join the party and to fight. Just then, the arena lights went out and Undertaker's bell tolled. When the lights came back on Taker was standing in the ring. Khali, Big Daddy V and MVP all exited, leaving Batista and Finlay in the ring with Taker. Taker, Batista and Finlay looked out at the 3 opponents they will face later tonight.

Shelton Benjamin was in the ring and yelled to the crowd it was time to see that "there ain't no stoppin me Nowwww". Just then, Kane's pyrotechnics exploded at the ramp and the Big Red Machine came to the ring.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Kane

Kane delivered a huge dropkick on a seated Shelton early on. Kane whipped Shelton to the corner but Shelton turned to jump back and knock Kane down. Kane managed to grab Shelton around the neck, but Shelton backed to the ropes to break it.

Kane ran at Shelton in the corner, but Shelton slid down then tripped Kane causing him to hit the turnbuckle. Shelton gained momentum snapping Kanes throat down against the top ropes, then jumping off the corner at Kane. Shelton used a chokehold/headlock down on the mat. Kane finally started to fight back with punches, and eventually caught Shelton off the corner when he jumped. Shelton tried to slide under Kane and make a comeback, but Kane grabbed him then tossed him to the corner. Kane punched away at Shelton then delivered clotheslines followed by a sideslam.

The action went outside the ring with Kane in control until Shelton pushed him to the ringpost. The two got up on the side apron to get back into the ring as the ref had been counting. Kane punched Shelton who fell into the ring. Just as Kane was about to enter the ref's count hit 10. A confused and upset Kane went into the ring and Shelton rolled out.

Winner: Shelton wins due to countout over Kane.

WWE Slam of the week showed Chuck Palumbo's brutal attack of Jamie Noble and accidentally knocking Michelle down. Chuck came to the ring the next week to apologize, but Michelle wasn't having it and slapped her. Chuck told her Noble would pay the price for that and Michelle will get to watch.

Jamie Noble vs. Chuck Palumbo

Palumbo rode his motorcycle to the ring solo. Noble came out and then motioned backstage. Michelle McCool came out to accompany Noble to the ring.

Michael Cole noted that Noble is 4-0 vs Chuck. Noble went for the quick attack early by kicking away at Chuck. Chuck eventually gained the upperhand and began beating down on Noble in the ring. Noble gained an advantage as Chuck came at him in the corner. Noble moved away so Chuck hit shoulder first. Noble ran at Chuck near the ropes and clotheslines him over. The two men fell to the outside with Noble getting up first. Chuck got up to start climbing into the ring and Noble dropkicked him off the apron. Noble went to jump off the corner at Chuck, but Chuck was next to his bike and moved away. Noble landed on the bike with his midsection hitting. Palumbo brought Noble back into the ring to finish him off for the win.

After the win, Chuck continued to go after Noble in the ring and tossed him into the ringpost. Chuck went outside to keep beating up Noble. With Michelle watching Palumbo dismantled Noble around the ring using slams, punches and more. Michelle yelled at Chuck to stop but Chuck continued to beat up Noble. Eventually, Palumbo put Noble at the bottom of the ramp and revved his motorcycle. Chuck drove his wheel right next to Noble's head, then with a crazed look on his face he drove up the ramp.

Winner: Chuck Palumbo wins via pinfall over Jamie Noble.

In the past year, Shanghai, China office opened by WWE, with Mick Foley serving as an ambassador. Last week the WWE was awarded Corporate Sponsorship award for its work in China.

Jesse & Festus vs. Deuce & Domino

Jesse lead Festus to the ring with a paper bag on his head. Before the match, Jesse said he wanted to reveal the new Festus. When he removed the bag, Festus' face looked same as before. As soon as the bell ran, Festus changed into his animal-self for the match and chased Deuce and Domino out of the ring.

Jesse started off with Deuce and took control. Deuce ran at him in the corner but Jesse moved away, then jumped off the ropes onto him. Jesse went out of the ring to take care of Domino and got distracted enough for the tag team to take control. Deuce hung Jesse on the ropes and Domino jumped off onto him. Domino took control of the match knocking Jesse to the mat. Deuce came in and ran over at Festus who proceeded to knock him down as Jesse tagged out.

Festus got in the ring and began to beat up both men, forcing Domino out. With Deuce alone, Festus did a super splash on him. Jesse went out after Domino. Cherry got on the apron and Festus went at her. Deuce tried to attack from behind, but Festus gained control, eventually slamming Deuce back for the pin.

Winners: Jesse & Festus win via pinfall over Deuce & Domino.

Smackdown highlight shown from last week of Teddy Long in the ring announcing that Edge will defend his title against Rey Mysterio at No Way Out. An angry Edge ran to the ring and asked what Teddy was doing. Teddy said the match would go on because he was in charge this week.

The Cutting Edge w/guest Vickie Guerrero

Edge discussed what happened to Vickie at the Royal Rumble just two weeks ago. Footage was shown of Rey going for the 619 on Edge, with Vickie getting onto the apron to protect Edge. Rey's 619 caught Vickie and she fell to the outside, injured. Edge told the crowd that is "the power of love". Edge told the crowd to stand up and show some respect to his soulmate, Vickie.

Teddy Long wheeled Vickie down the ramp and got her into the ring. Edge told Teddy to take the extra stool from the ring and leave him alone with his lover. Edge professed his love to Vickie in Spanish then said that Rey Mysterio needs to come out and apologize. Edge yelled for Rey to get to the ring and Mysterio's music hit, Rey made his way down the ramp.

Rey started to explain to Vickie his side of the story as she demanded an apology. Edge blatantly punched Rey down from Vickie then went at him. Rey managed to escape and tripped Edge to the ropes then went for a 619. Edge ducked down, then got back up to try to Spear Rey. Rey did a leapfrog over Edge who ran straight at Vickie. Edge caught himself. The two continued, and Edge booted Rey to the mat. Edge grabbed a steel chair but Rey was able to dropkick the chair into him, then hit a 619. Rey jumped off the ropes onto Edge at the announcer's table.

Afterwards, Rey took the mic and walked up to a frightened Vickie in the corner of the ring. Rey said "I almost forgot, I'm sorry" before he exited the ring and backed up the ramp. Edge got back into the ring with his belt and hugged Vickie to check on her.

Cole and Coach reviewed what just went down on the Cutting Edge, then covered the full card of matches for No Way Out including Kennedy vs. Flair and John Cena vs. Orton for the WWE title. Cole and Coach said the 2 elimination chamber matches will determine the #1 contenders for both major titles.

Raw Rebound showed Mr. McMahon's "Kiss My Ass Club" highlights with Hornswoggle from last week. Vince demanded that his son kiss his ass, but Finlay came down to intervene. Finlay held Hornswoggle off then told him to go bite Vince on the backside. The two jubilantly celebrated on the ramp, but an angry Vince set up a No DQ match against his son for next week. Vince said if Finlay gets involved, he's fired!

New WWE Diva Eve Torres stopped Edge backstage. Eve asked Edge since next week is Valentine's day if Edge plans to ask Vickie to marry him. Edge yelled at Eve asking where she got off asking that about the GM's personal affairs. Edge told Eve to watch next Friday like everyone else.

Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore vs. Hawkins & Ryder

Yang started with Ryder and took control briefly. Ryder was able to knock Yang down some then tagged in Hawkins. Yang got flipped onto the apron but stayed on his feet. Ryder caused a distraction outside the ring and Hawkins ran over to knock Yang down off the apron.

The Edge proteges continued to tag in and out to doubleteam Yang and wear him down. Yang eventually was able to crawl to Shannon Moore as Hawkins got over to Ryder. Moore began to fly around and beat up Ryder. Hawkins got into the ring but Moore dropkicked him out with Yang. Ryder took advantage of the isolated Moore but slamming him down for the pin.

Winners: Ryder & Hawkins win via pinfall over Moore & Yang.

Batista, Finlay & Undertaker vs. MVP, Big Daddy V & Great Khali

Each many came to the ring with Taker arriving last as Smackdown went to commercial.

Smackdown returned with Khali beating up Finlay. Khali tagged in MVP who continued to toss Finlay around. Finlay managed to wrestle MVP down to the mat and twisted his arm back. Finlay finally tagged in Batista who came in to get attacked by MVP. Big Daddy V tagged in next and started to punish Batista in the corner with headbutts and punches. Taker was able to tag in and start to twist Big Daddy V's arm before punching him. Taker tried to go "old school" but V was able to prevent it. The foes took control and Khali tagged in to start headbutting Taker in the corner as Smackdown went to break.

Smackdown returned and MVP was kicking away at Taker in the corner. Cole said during the break the heels had dominated Taker. Batista tagged back in finally and MVP was on the receiving end of the Animal's attack. Batista tossed MVP to the corner and brought Finlay back in. Finlay continued to beat up MVP down on the mat. Finlay went to the corner ropes for a move, but MVP got up off the mat and shoved him off the ropes. Outside the ring a brawl ensued with all men participating. MVP threw Finlay back into the ring for the pin but Finlay kicked out at 2.

Khali tagged in after MVP took control over Finlay. Khali tossed Finlay to the corner so V could tag in and continue hammering away. Undertaker looked on from the apron trying to encourage Finlay, but V slammed him down. MVP came in yet again and held Finlay in a headlock. Finlay got to his feet to fight back briefly until MVP took him back down to the mat. MVP set up Finlay in the corner but missed on his boot kick, which allowed Finlay to jump over to Taker for a tag.

The Undertaker had serious momentum towards the end of the match as he tossed MVP corner to corner and beat him up. Taker delivered a boot then a leg drop off the ropes, but MVP kicked out of a pin. Taker set up for a chokeslam, but V entered the ring behind him and grabbed Taker. V did the Samoan drop. Just then Batista got into the mix and Speared down V. Khali came in and chopped Batista down. Finlay grabbed his shilaleigh and clocked Khali over the head with the ref not seeing. Khali, V and MVP went out of the ring. The match ended with Taker, Finlay and Batista in a cleared out ring facing each other.

Winners: No winners announced as match ended in a no contest brawl.
