E. Stanley Kroenke won't run XBA

Last night's episode of WWE Raw featured an appearance by a man posing as NBA Denver Nugget's owner E. Stanley Kroenke. Kroenke was confronted in the ring by Vince McMahon for not honoring a deal they made months ago to hold Raw at Denver's Pepsi Center. The issue came up because Kroenke's Nuggets qualified for the NBA playoffs and made it deeper than expected, facing the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. At the time Kroenke and his staff agreed with WWE to host Raw at the Pepsi Center for 5/25/09, it was if they were saying "go right ahead we don't expect our team to be playing there then". They certainly were wrong.

So on an impromptu basis, Raw had to scramble to return over 10,000 tickets to upset Denver fans, and then moved the show to Los Angeles at the Staples Center. They decided to make it a mock basketball/NBA environment, complete with terribly fake versions of actor Jack Nicholson, NBA Commissioner David Stern, and Lakers owner Jerry Buss sitting in the front row.

The fake Kroenke arrived to the ring to start off the show, wearing a bad wig and fake moustache, while carrying a basketball. After going on for several moments about how he could care less about the WWE Universe, Mr. McMahon strutted down to the ring and proceeded to give Kroenke a talking to, followed by a forceful shove. Vince made all sorts of insulting remarks about Kroenke's abilities to manage a new basketball league (the XBA) prior to shoving him out of the ring.

Kroenke is a self-made billionaire, much like Vince McMahon. He's married with 2 kids, was educated at the University of Missouri, and made his money via developing retail and commercial properties. In 2008, Forbes listed the 61 year old sports team owner at a worth of abut 3.5 billion dollars. In addition to the Nuggets he also owns the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, as well as 5 ranches, shopping centers and office properties. But one thing you're unlikely to ever see on the billionaire's resume: a win in the WWE ring against WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
