THQ's Mysterious New Video Game: WWE Online

According to the quarterly earnings call that THQ held this past Wednesday (replay call here), there is a new game being worked on called "WWE Online". Unfortunately, as of now the only details known about this new title are that it's currently being developed in Asia. There's no details on wrestlers included, which systems the video game will be available for, or when it will be released officially. The game remains top secret for now but maybe it will be a multi-player game that offers the same storylines online that currently are going on with the various WWE television shows. Again, there's no official details so that is merely speculation. Escapistmagazine.com has an article which also speculates on the new title saying:

Asian gamers are particularly prone to spending huge gobs of cash on the latest and greatest MMO to hit the market, and the region has a long-standing affection for professional wrestling.

The MMO market in North America and Europe is slightly more difficult to crack, but perhaps the rabid following that the WWE brand already boasts could be the catalyst THQ needs to launch a winning online world.

THQ's series of wrestling games continue to be some of its most popular and best moneymakers. Net sales were reported down 25 % for the last quarter when compared to the same time period from last year.
