Raw Preview 05.04.09
Last week on Raw, The Animal Batista was able to become #1 Contender for Randy Orton's WWE Title. Batista did so by defeating Big Show in a singles contest, thanks to a bit of a distraction from John Cena. Now Batista will move on to the Judgment Day Pay-Per-View in several weeks to challenge Orton for the gold. Meanwhile, Randy Orton will once again be face-to-face with one of the McMahon's, as Shane McMahon steps into the squared circle with him tonight. Orton was attacked by Shane on last week's show with a Kendo stick, interrupting Orton's match with MVP. Now "The Viper" will look to extract revenge and further punish the McMahon's. Will Orton once again Punt kick Shane out of action? Or will Shane be able to avenge the heinous acts Orton has committed against his family?
MVP also made his bold debut on the Raw show as he showed up to interrupt Orton at the start of the program. MVP made sure Orton and the rest of the WWE Universe knew just who he was, before he insulted and taunted Legacy. Orton decided to have Vickie Guerrero schedule a matchup on Raw so he could show MVP just whose show Raw is. MVP had a good showing against Orton in his first official matchup on Raw, but the United States Champ was kicked out of action by Orton, right before Shane McMahon got involved. MVP was also successful recently on his old stomping ground of Smackdown as he defended his United States Title against Dolph Ziggler. Things seem to be poppin' for the Ballin' superstar now that he's moved to Raw, but will his success continue? Who will step up first to challenge MVP on his new Raw roster?
Also, last week's main event was disrupted by the surprise arrival to the ramp of a battered and bruised John Cena. Cena recently was a victim of a vicious throw by Big Show, which hurled the former champ into a huge spotlight near the ramp. This of course knocked out Cena for a 10 count, allowing Edge to regain the World Heavyweight Title. Cena's appearance on Raw also cost Big Show a shot at Randy Orton's WWE Title, as Batista was able to get back in the ring before the 10 count, while Show could not. Show definitely seemed angered by Cena's appearance and distraction, but Cena can't be near finished with Big Show after what happened at Backlash. Will these two collide again on Raw or be thrust into an upcoming match?
