2009 Judgment Day Matches

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Jeff Hardy

Jeff qualified by winning a tough Fatal Fourway on Smackdown which featured Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and Kane also competing. It came down to Mysterio vs. Hardy and Jeff was able to counter Rey's Hurricanrana onto him into a pinfall victory. That same night saw Jeff hit Edge with the Swanton Bomb to let him know he was ready for the title fight in a few weeks. Will Jeff be able to capture yet another championship from the Rated-R Superstar? Or will Edge once again find an opportunity to gain the victory at Judgment Day?

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Batista

Batista has been blamed by many for HHH losing the WWE title to Orton at Backlash. In that six man tag team match, Batista was unable to help out HHH towards the end of the match, allowing Orton to RKO and Punt Kick the former champion, then pin him. The following night on Raw, a #1 Contender match was held as Batista faced off against the Big Show. Thanks to an appearance by John Cena which distracted Show, Batista claimed the countout victory and will head to the PPV attempting to capture the WWE title. There's no love lost between these two men, as months ago, Randy Orton was responsible for sidelining Batista with a Punt kick to his head. Does the Animal have what it takes to win Orton's WWE title? Or will the Legend Killer strike again and punt kick Batista down?

ECW Champion Christian vs. Jack Swagger

Christian finally was able to overcome his nemesis, Jack Swagger, who continued to arrogantly walk around as the face of ECW. At Backlash, Christian used a trick out of Swagger's own playbook, when he pulled a turnbuckle cover off and avoided Swagger charging at him. That move helped Christian earn his first ever reign as ECW Champion. On ECW, Swagger demanded his rematch from interim GM Tiffany. Tiffany granted him the match for Judgment Day, but gave Tommy Dreamer a shot at the title on the ECW show. Swagger decided to crash a great match and layed out both Dreamer and Christian in the ring. With both men down, Swagger cockily stood over Christian, as he hopes to at Judgment Day. Will Swagger be able to back up his arrogance and regain the title? Or will Captain Charisma continue to lead the ECW superstars as champ?
