Smackdown Preview 01.15.10

Tonight's Smackdown will see another chapter in the ongoing rivalry between former best friends, Rey Mysterio and Batista. Last week, the two superstars met in a match to determine who would be the #1 Contender for Undertaker's World Heavyweight title at the 2010 Royal Rumble. However, there was no winner because the arena lights went out several times, and upon their return back on, Mysterio and Batista were both down in the ring. Since the Undertaker's bells sounded each time, fans could only speculate that the Deadman had made an appearance and caused the carnage during the darkness. Since there was no clear winner, Mysterio and The Animal will now be locked inside a steel cage tonight. Whoever survives will be the new #1 Contender for Undertaker's title at the Rumble. What will the outcome be in tonight's huge steel cage match on Smackdown?

Also, the past several weeks have seen Michelle McCool and her sidekick Layla constantly tesing Mickie James over her weight issues. Beth Phoenix has recently become involved in the feud, but it's clear Beth is on her own side and nobody else's. One week saw Beth attack McCool after a match, then next week saw Michelle and Layla retaliate, right after Beth had defeated Layla. Mickie James rushed to the ring to help make a save, only to kick Phoenix down as payback for the GlamSlam she got a week ago. What will go down next between these divas and which diva will be the #1 Contender for Michelle's Women's championship?

Things are continuing to heat up with superstars on the Smackdown roster looking ahead to the Royal Rumble. It's unknown which superstars will appear in the match, although Intercontinental champ Drew McIntyre is already declaring himself the winner. Meanwhile, John Morrison continues to look for a rematch where can get a clean attempt to defeat Drew McIntyre for the title. Other superstars including Chris Jericho, Finlay, Cryme Tyme, Matt Hardy, Kane and R-Truth certainly wouldn't mind the opportunity for a title shot at Wrestlemania 26. Which Smackdown stars will be entered into this year's Rumble, and how will they prep themselves for the annual Pay-Per-View?
