Vengeance Predictions

Vengeance makes for a worthwhile Pay-Per-View, in that all titles are on the line and we will probably see at least a few of the titles change hands.

Here are my predictions for each of the Vengeance Title matches:

Edge vs. Batista - The interesting caveat to this match is that if Batista fails to win the belt here, he will get no more title shots. I find it hard to believe he won't win under these circumstances, unless he has moved over to RAW and will be challenging Cena for his title (which would make RAW way too heavy with championship talent). Batista has all the motive in the world to win back his title here, third time's a charm.

Prediction: Batista re-captures the title under the "Last Chance" stipulation.

WWE Championship Challenge - Lashley vs. Mick Foley vs. Randy Orton vs. King Booker vs. John Cena - This is where Cena might finally lose. I know many are saying they are giving Cena the invincible "Hulk Hogan" look lately, but having this many guys in the match capable of taking the title makes you wonder. We all know Cena is bound to lose the title at some point, but the question is will it be to Lashley, Kennedy or HHH? Those are the 3 names to consider. Booker has been away from wrestling too long to capture the title here, but surprises do happen. I can see Cena losing the title within the next 2 months, but his recent track record has been winning just about every match. The odds would say Cena wins since he's now beat Umaga and Khali each twice, and won a Fatal Fourway over Edge, Orton and HBK.

Prediction: Cena retains the title.

Ric Flair vs. MVP (United States Championship) - This is where they start to build MVP up. He's defeated Chris Benoit in a 2 of 3 falls match, and now he will defeat a legend in Ric Flair, who hasn't had much title success lately.

Prediction: MVP retains the US Championship.

Chris Benoit vs. CM Punk (ECW Championship) - This could easily be the match of the night. Since the title is vacant, it makes the winner a bit less predictable here. Chris Benoit is new to the ECW roster and CM Punk is a ECW rising talent who they want to push. The fans love this guy, but they love Punk too. Punk survived Cor Von's strong attacks in their match on the last ECW before Vengeance, and Benoit made Elijah Burke tap out. Benoit and Punk both seem capable of giving us one heck of a match here, let's hope they don't disappoint. Punk will outlast Benoit and finally capture the ECW title he deserves.

Prediction: CM Punk wins the ECW title in a great match against Benoit.

Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Chavo Guerrero (Cruiserweight Championship) - Tough to see Chavo losing it here, but the Cruiserweight tends to change hands a bit. I'll say Chavo retains, even though they have made Wang Yang built up on Smackdown over the past several months.

Prediction: Chavo retains the title.

Umaga vs. Santino Morella (Intercontinental Title) - This is a tough match to pick, because the only reason Santino won the title off Umaga was thanks to Lashley's help. Can he defend it versus the Samoan Bulldozer by himself? Most likely not. I'm going to make a prediction that maybe we see Rey Mysterio make a return here and interfere in the match. One can dream right?

Prediction: Santino wins via DQ or with help of Rey Mysterio.

Candice vs. Melina (Women's Title) - Jim Ross announced how Candice has been impressive lately and moving up the ranks in the women's division. Now she has her title shot. They have seemed to build up Melina alot lately, and she has defeated the likes of Mickie James and Ashley now, who are probably better champs than Candice.

Prediction: Melina retains the Women's title.

The Hardys vs. Cade & Murdoch (WWE Tag Titles) - Hard to see Cade & Murdoch losing this one too quick. Matt Hardy was injured on this week's Smackdown thanks to Finlay Would be great to see Kendrick & London feud with the Hardys, since they have similar styles. A #1 contender match maybe?

Prediction: Cade & Murdoch retain, most likely by cheating or by the Hardy's being DQ'd.

Note: I'm guessing the Final Tag title match (vs. Deuce/Domino) will be announced on Smackdown? The only possible contenders left around are the new Major Brothers from ECW, unless a new makeshift tag team assembles to compete (i.e. Masters & Dykstra or something). So it makes sense Major Brothers would get the shot here..

Closing thoughts: So there you have it, We'll have a new ECW champ, Batista will recapture gold and Santino retains his IC title vs Umaga. I will also be shocked if Batista never gets another shot at the Championship after Sunday, but maybe he will either move rosters, or win a Royal Rumble/Money in the Bank match..Or with Vince not around, someone will reverse the decision. Tough to say.. Someone also had an interesting observation/idea that Mr. McMahon could make a "Surprise I'm still alive!" move and show up at Vengeance, then compete in the John Cena title match? He is a former WWE title holder and that would make him eligible..interesting idea but I don't see it happening here..
