Who Would You Fire?

Let's say you are the General Manager of WWE Raw for just a day. William Regal has the day off and Vince McMahon has put you in charge of the roster. Vince has left you a list of 5 wrestlers and informs you the Raw roster needs to be trimmed by 1 superstar wrestler. Vince trusts in you that you will make the best decision for the company and the Raw brand. The five names to contemplate are: Santino Marella, Val Venis, Supers Crazy, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Daivari. Now before you jump up in defense of these names, let's take a look at why they might be considered "dead weight" right now for the Raw roster. Or you can skip to the new poll and cast your vote for who to fire.

Santino Marella

Of the list this guys seems to have the most future potential (Super Crazy a close 2nd). However, Marella just has not been showing up lately and his title victory as well as defenses were almost all flukes. Marella won the Intercontinental title due to Bobby Lashley's help. He successfully defended against Umaga, but mainly due to Umaga disqualifying himself at a Pay Per View. Now Marella is wearing a sling and is doing little more lately than complaining to the refs, yelling at Maria, or being on WWE game shows. I can see him as a legitimate heel of the future, but in terms of right now he just hasn't been getting it done.

Daivari

He was drafted to Raw and he is more of a Cruiserweight than a contender for any of the titles on Raw, unless they plan to have him in a gimmick where he enters into the Women's title ranks. When you see Daivari in a Raw match you basically know the outcome, unless someone interferes. Daivari is a guy who doesn't really fit into the Raw roster makes a wise choice to be fired. His services just aren't applicable to the Raw show, because most of us know, he is going to lose matches.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Duggan is a veteran of pro-wrestling and well respected for his body of work. However he seems to be filler, unless he's going against Daivari. Duggan is pushing the years in terms of age and maybe eliminating him from the roster makes the best sense. I'm sure Duggan is here now to appeal to "old school" wrestling fans who rooted for him, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man and others of the time. His gimmick has been around a long time, similar to the next name on our list.

Val Venis

A longtime veteran of WWE and Raw as the "porn star" who wears a towel to the ring and says "Hello Ladies" in his deep, sultry voice. Possibly he is still around to appeal to a female demographic, but Venis rarely wins anymore. Maybe he will succeed Regal as the GM some day, but as for now as a wrestler Venis mainly provides wins for people looking to build up their resume.

Super Crazy

Super Crazy is probably the most talented and exciting to watch of this bunch. I think he also has the most potential for maybe an Intercontinental title push someday. As for now his victories are usually lucky wins (ala the Mr. Kennedy rollup) and other matches where he escaped with the win. While Super Crazy is fun to watch, he hasn't really competed at a title-contending level.

Perhaps the best idea would be to have a 5 man Battle Royal between these guys, when healthy. The winner could choose who was fired. What are your thoughts on this?

You can also vote on this at a new poll at the WWE Characters site. Decide which of the five to fire. Vote now, it will be interesting to see the results.

Val Venis, for sure. He's just a throw back from the Attitude Era.
