New Smackdown vs Raw 2008 Features

Smackdown vs Raw 2008 video game

THQ, the makers of WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 have announced several "tournament modes" for the new video game title. Included in these modes are "King of the Ring", "Beat the Clock" and a Customizable Tournament Mode.

THQ has the following to say about the tournaments:

"The main components of the mode are the King of the Ring and the brand new Beat The Clock Sprint tournaments. Inspired by the historic reign of RAW Superstar King Booker, the King of the Ring tourney throws players right in the middle of a single-elimination battle for the crown. If the player can outlast the 15 other Superstars, he gets to choose a WWE Diva as his queen and is treated to a special coronation ceremony that is truly fit for a king.

Players have the option of tailoring King of the Ring, SmackDown vs. Raw, Road to WrestleMania and Money in the Bank brackets to their liking, even putting WWE Championships on the line. And for the first time ever, users can create and name their own custom tournaments, with up to 16 Superstars, where the winner takes all."(Source: THQ site)

THQ has also announced that Xbox users can download a playable demo of their annual wrestling game WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, at the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1.2GB.

About a month before the official title is released, players that downloaded the demo are able to choose out of 4 superstars: Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley, The Undertaker and Randy Orton; from there players will get to wrestle in an exhibition match either in single-player, or with two players offline.

PALGN a video games website from Europe and Australia features a head-to-head comparison of the new Smackdown vs Raw title for every video game platform.

IGN also features comprehensive coverage of the game on all of its platforms.
