The Chris Jericho Situation

There's been rumors and buzz going on for weeks now surrounding the seeming-to-be-soon return of former WWE star, Chris Jericho. Here at WWE Characters Blog, it was mentioned he might return on this past week's Smackdown in Long Island where he had a book signing. However, Jericho was a no show. There's speculation he'll be on ECW, at Raw or at Survivor Series too. The commercials are shown to us weekly, but we still have no clue as to Jericho's return date. If there is one that is.

The WWE Geek, Edward Ball has a theory that maybe in fact Chris Jericho is not returning to the WWE. At WWE Geek Blog, Edward puts forth this idea that the Jericho situation may simply be a way for the WWE to increase internet chatter and buzz about Y2J and WWE. It makes a good bit of sense too and would help both parties right now.

Jericho is currently promoting a book on a tour which wouldn't hurt from this sort of buzz at all. Neither would the WWE, as fans continue to see the cryptic commercials about "Save Us" week after week. Fans may begin to think the next WWE event is where Jericho might show up, unannounced. So in turn, fans will buy tickets to the shows expecting to see a surprise return similar to that of Shawn Michaels on Raw.

Of course this isn't to say Jericho won't EVER be back. "Triple H Returns" promo ads were shown for weeks leading up to his return at SummerSlam, and fans were expecting he might turn up prior to the Pay Per View. So Jericho just might show at Survivor Series, although there's current rumors that Edge will return there. The fact of the matter is, you'd think WWE wants as many big name stars as possible filling seats in the arenas right now. Let's face it, John Cena was a big draw, like him or not. Edge and Bobby Lashley have also been missed. Bringing a guy like Jericho into any of the 3 brands would not hurt WWE at all. But making fans wonder about his return will definitely help the hype, hysteria and quite possibly boost ticket sales.
