Smackdown Recap 12.07.07

Smackdown Recap from South Carolina:

Smackdown started with highlights of the Undertaker, Batista and Edge feud that has built up. Included were Edge's interference in Hell in a Cell at Survivor Series, Vickie and Edge's relationship, as well as the Undertaker showing up to Tombstone Vickie and later chokeslam Batista during his match with Edge. Smackdown ended last week with GM Teddy Long showing up to announce Undertaker vs. Batista vs. Edge at Armageddon for the World Heavyweight title.

Teddy Long came down to the ring to start off the show. Long said that Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero is incapacitated currently, so he was happy to announce Armageddon's main event Triple Threat match. Teddy said at Armageddon MVP will defend his US title against Rey Mysterio. Just then, Edge showed up and came down to the ring. Edge reminded Teddy that he is only the assistant GM right now. Teddy said she's currently incapacitated and Edge said she's layed up in a hospital bed with a neck brace. Edge began to talk to Vickie through the camera, and Teddy told Edge to stop wasting his time. Edge asked Teddy why he keeps screwing him out of title shots. Teddy talked about Edge being injured and also about how he interfered in Hell in a Cell. Teddy then gave Edge a match tonight against Kane.

Michael Cole announced that MVP will have Michael Hayes as his guest on the VIP lounge, and JBL said Batista will be in action tonight as well.

Jesse & Festus vs. John Morrison & The Miz

As soon as the bell rang Festus attacked Morrison who rolled out of the ring. Miz started off against Jesse using several takedowns and slams. Miz tried to whip Jesse to the ropes where Morrison was waiting but Jesse slid under his legs then pulled him down off the apron. Back in the ring Miz managed to gain control of Jesse and tagged in Morrison. Morrison used a neckbreaker and kept Jesse down to the mat. Miz came back in but Jesse managed to escape to tag in Festus.

Festus started to clean house and used Morrison to slam into Miz, knocking him off the apron. With Morrison alone in the ring, Festus dominated him, slamming him to the mat and tagging in Jesse. Jesse climbed onto the corner ropes, just as Miz came in to interfere. Festus ran over to clothesline Miz out of the ring, and Morrison managed to knock Jesse off the corner to the mat for a pin.

Winner: John Morrison and The Miz win via pinfall over Jesse and Festus.

Anastacia interviewed Elijah Burke about Batista. Burke said he is the most athletically gifted star in all of WWE and is the best of ECW. Burke guaranteed he will defeat Batista.

Elijah Burke vs. Batista

Burke got away with a slap early causing Batista to go crazy slamming him from corner to corner. Batista went to run at Burke in one corner and Elijah did a sliding dropkick into Batista's knee. Burke stomped away on Batista in the corner then ran at the corner and did an elbow drop. Burke continued to dominate with Batista down, and tried for several pins. Batista was down and Burke tried to jump off the ropes at him. Batista got up fast and speared Burke down from mid air. Batista followed up with a quick Batista Bomb and pin.

Winner: Batista wins via pinfall over Elijah Burke.

Michelle McCool was backstage talking to a WWE staff member. Just then Jamie Noble came up and tried to hit on her saying they had plenty in common. Michelle said he makes her nauseas. Jamie Noble called Chuck Palumbo a loser and Michelle told Jamie he got lucky in the match last week. Michelle agreed if he beats Chuck again he gets a date with her.

Jamie Noble vs. Chuck Palumbo

Michelle rode down to the ring on the back of Chuck's motorcycle as Jamie Noble leered at her from inside the ring. Early on, Chuck tossed Noble to the corner and started to pound away. Chuck with a hard clothesline on Noble followed by a suplex attempt. Noble slid off the back and started to kick and chop Palumbo down to the mat. Chuck stood up and caught Noble as he ran at him from the ropes. Chuck tossed Noble back then used righthand punches to drop him to the mat. Chuck whipped Noble to the corner and ran at him. Noble was able to put his leg up and kick Chuck. Noble managed to escape from Chuck after a slam, when Chuck went for the elbow drop. Michelle McCool got up on the apron and removed her vest to distract Noble. Chuck ran at him and Noble ducked. Chuck stopped himself from running into Michelle and Noble rolled him up for the pin. A happy Noble retreated up the ramp with Michelle and Chuck stunned in the ring.

Winner: Jamie Noble wins via pinfall over Chuck Palumbo.

Highlights shown from last week's tag team match involving Rey Mysterio and Kane vs. MVP and BIg Daddy V.

MVP's VIP Lounge

MVP began to pitch the World Class Championship Wrestling DVD that's coming out. MVP said the best rivalry was the Von Erick family vs the Fabulous Freebirds. MVP had a highlight reel shown of the classic triumphant and tragic moments from the DVD. MVP introduced his guest Freebird Michael Hayes. Hayes talked about the DVD and how it spreads the message "Say No to Drugs" because 5 of the 6 Von Ericks have died.

MVP told Hayes he was looking good for his age. Hayes asked MVP how old he is and MVP said "alot younger". Hayes got angry at MVP and told him he better come up with some respect fast or get his butt kicked by a 49 year old. MVP told Hayes his own life's timeline is running out, and insulted his weight and hairline. MVP mentioned Hayes' relationship with the Hardys. Hayes asked MVP to stay on topic about the DVD. MVP said it's his show and he wants to know how Hayes felt about how MVP got rid of Matt Hardy as his partner. Hayes said MVP will have a big problem when Matt Hardy returns. Hayes then said Rey Mysterio pinned him last week and now they will meet at Armageddon. Hayes said he predicts Rey will beat MVP too. MVP then told Hayes he can't compete in his league any more. Hayes told MVP he has no respect for the stars of yesterday and told him he has to worry about today because he's about to get his ass kicked. Hayes took off his coat and MVP attacked.

Hayes managed to get up near the ropes and fought back for a bit but MVP slammed him up over his back. MVP then delivered a kick to the face off the ropes and then used his finisher on Hayes. Just then, Rey Mysterio ran down to the ring and got on the apron, MVP went at him and Mysterio managed to springboard off the ropes. Mysterio tackled MVP into the couch and setting of VIP lounge and kept pounding on MVP. Eventually MVP rolled out of the ring and retreated up the ramp.

Anastacia interviewed Batista about the Triple Threat match for Armageddon. Batista said he doesn't have to be pinned to lose. Batista also said he's never pinned Edge in a match where the World Heavyweight title is on the line. Batista said everyone knows his history with Undertaker, but he's battle-tested and ready for a war.

Raw Rebound showed highlights of Jericho and Orton who will meet for the WWE title at Armageddon. On Raw they picked each other's opponents. Orton chose Umaga for Jericho and Jericho chose HBK for Orton. Orton interfered in Jericho's match and RKO'd him at the end. Later on, Mr. Kennedy came down to interrupt the HBK vs Orton match, and he and Michaels fought out into the crowd, causing a countout victory for Orton. Jericho came down to the ring to get revenge on Orton, kicking him out of the ring.

Hornswoggle shown in the back garage behind the wheel of Deuce & Domino's red car. D&D came up to the car and chased him out. Just then Finlay showed up and told them to back off. Hornswoggle ripped the antenna off the front of the car, and Finlay and he exited with D&D angry. Michael Cole said the two teams will face off in a match tonight.

WWE Smackdown "Smack of the Night" showed Finlay and Hornswoggle vs. Deuce and Domino. D&D went after Hornswoggle with their leather belts and Finlay managed to clock Deuce with the shalaleigh, allowing them to grab the win.

Finlay vs. Deuce

Deuce hammered away on Finlay in the corner, but Finlay turned things around and dropped Deuce to the mat. Hornswoggle cheered him on from the outside. Finlay threw Deuce to the corner then rammed him. Finlay kept Deuce down in a headlock briefly but Deuce stood up to push him to the ropes. Finlay ran back and elbowed him down. Finlay continued to dominate, and just then Domino chased Hornswoggle around and under the ring. Finlay was distracted and caught off guard as Deuce hit him from behind.

Deuce kept Finlay down with a modified headlock type move. Finlay eventually got to his feet, then blocked some punch attempts from Deuce. Finlay started to punch away but Deuce delivered a solid kick. While Deuce was in control, Hornswoggle returned from under the ring with a fire extinguisher. Hornswoggle sprayed Cherry and Domino from the apron. Deuce grabbed him and the fire extinguisher. As the ref went over to maintain order, Finlay grabbed his shalaleigh and clocked Deuce over the head. Finlay picked up a pinfall victory as the ref turned back.

After the match, Hornswoggle went into the ring to celebrate with Finlay. Just then, Great Khali's music hit and down came the Punjabi Giant. D&D attacked Finlay from behind and left him stunned to be beat up by Khali as Hornswoggle tried to help. Khali, pushed Hornswoggle aside and out of the ring, then slammed Finlay down so he could put his head into a vice grip.

Winner: Finlay wins via pinfall over Deuce.

Edge vs. Kane

Batista came down to join Cole & JBL at ringside for the match. Edge took the mic prior to the match and told the crowd to show some respect and class while he addresses Vickie Guerrero. Edge looked into the camera and told Vickie he wished her a speedy recovery and she's in his thoughts.

Smackdown returned with Edge in the ring and just then Kane's fireworks erupted as the Big Red Machine came down to the ring. Kane grabbed Edge early on and tossed him into the corner to beat up. Kane picked up Edge then slammed him down on the top rope. Kane continued to dominate, holding Edge to the mat with a knee on his shoulder. Kane kept working on the left pectoral muscle of Edge. Batista told Cole he was out there to do some scouting on Edge, as Kane punched away on Edge in the corner.

Kane pulled Edge's arms behind his back down on the mat to stretch him out. Edge finally escaped when Kane went for an elbow drop off the ropes. Edge tried to whip Kane to the ropes, and Kane picked him up. Edge slid off then pulled Kane down to the mat. Edge followed by dropkicking Kane out of the ring. Edge went to jump at Kane off the side apron, but Kane caught him in mid-air and slammed him against the apron. Kane went to get back into the ring after tossing in Edge, but Edge knocked him off and into the crowd barrier as Smackdown hit commercial.

Smackdown returned with Edge dropping knees into Kane in the ring. Edge continued to beat up Kane in the corner, kicking and ramming him. Edge got Kane down to the mat and squeezed his ribs area. Kane got to his feet and fought back using punches then whipped Edge to the ropes. As Kane put his head down, Edge kicked him. Despite this, Kane recovered and side slammed Edge to the mat. Kane got to the top ropes, but Edge got up as well and climbed with Kane. Kane eventually punched Edge off, then jumped at him. Edge moved away then waited for Kane to stand for a spear. As Edge ran at Kane, Kane gave him a boot to the face. Edge escaped a chokeslam attempt from Kane and managed to survive a bit more. Kane landed another clothesline off the top ropes, then went for the chokeslam again.

Edge managed to pull his way to the ropes and got over onto the apron, then pulled Kane down against the top rope. Edge went outside the ring and grabbed a steel chair. As soon as he entered, the ref called for a DQ. An angry Kane withstood the attack, then went outside and grabbed the steel steps. Kane tried to clock Edge with the steps but Edge managed to trip Kane down instead, then speared him when he got up. Edge placed Kane on the steel steps, then grabbed the chair. Just then, Batista left the commentators table and entered the ring to stop Edge. As the two faced off, all of a sudden Undertaker's bell rang and the arena went dark. Taker showed up in the ring and had Edge in the chokeslam just as Batista ran. Batista mistakingly speared Taker down and Edge escaped.

Winner: Kane wins due to disqualification of Edge.
