Raw in HD Comes Through
The first WWE Raw in Hi Def definitely did not disappoint. The caliber of a few matches on this show were some of the best of the young year so far. The opener between Kennedy and Michaels was a classic bit of showmanship by both men in which it was hard to tell who would win. Kendrick vs. Umaga was a matchup I wasn't expecting, and seriously thought Kendrick might pull off the upset. Most of us expected Triple H to qualify for the Rumble, and seeing him in action against 3 different wrestlers was also pretty entertaining.
We continue to get the Hornswoggle and Finlay story as well. The question is what is the "deal" that Finlay and Vince keep mentioning. Is it possible that Finlay is Hornswoggle's real father? It's something that to consider. It's also possible that Finlay made a deal with Vince so he would stop putting Horney into "Tough Love" matchups. Maybe Finlay owes Vince for something, or perhaps Finlay has a favor he can cash in at some point for taking care of Hornswoggle. It's hard to say at this point.
It seems with the divas that maybe they are heading towards a Mickie James vs. Ashley type feud which will then translate into Maria vs Ashley at Wrestlemania. Also, Carlito and Santino seem to be on the path where they will brawl over Maria. Just speculation but that looks like it could be one angle we see coming up.
The ending of the show was pretty unique too. Not necessarily Hardy pulling off the Twist of Fate on an angry Orton, but Jeff going out into the crowd to shake hands with fans. Hardy yelled out each person's name and made it known he respects the fans more than Orton. WWE put some great looking touches on their first Raw show in HD including a flashy new digital set. Let's hope the quality trend continues to go up from here on out.
