TNA Impact moving to Monday to battle Raw

In a move that's eerily similar to the former WCW, TNA's Impact show on SPIKE TV will be moving into the Monday night slot to try to compete with the WWE Raw wrestling product. The move officially happens on March 8th, in what appears to be Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan's attempt to go head-to-head with Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment.

It's also been revealed via The Sun's Phil Allely that in the soon-to-air episode of TNA, Hogan announced he'll be headlining the first Monday night Impact show. Hogan will team up with TNA wrestler Abyss to battle Ric Flair and TNA Champion AJ Styles. While Hogan and Flair make for two of the oldest wrestlers in the industry, the two recently battled as part of Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania Tour in Australia.

TNA went head-to-head with WWE back on January 4th with the return of Hulk Hogan, as well as the surprise arrivals to TNA of other stars including Flair and Jeff Hardy. The show drew 2.2 million viewers due to the hype over Hogan's appearance. The plan for TNA is to air a live episode every other week, for now.

The move is the kind of gutsy, brash and arrogant decision you'd expect from Hogan and Bischoff. Several years back Hogan revealed in interviews how he wanted to form his own company to try to take down Vince McMahon. Since that didn't materialize, Hogan has now joined forces with TNA and has brought other former WCW/WWE talent on board with him such as The Nasty Boys, Flair, Scott Hall, Ken Anderson and Jimmy "the Mouth of the South" Hart.

With TNA making a move to Monday nights, it may make fans wonder how long before they run out of steam trying to compete with a larger, global product like WWE, and how long before Vince McMahon is buying up TNA along with all of its talent.

Mr. Kennedy Sighting in NYC

mr kennedy ken anderson wwe

During a recent trip to New York City, Mr. Kennedy (Ken Anderson) happened to be hanging out in the heart of New York City late night on Monday October 26th (same night WWE Raw was in Buffalo, NY). Along with Kennedy was a camera crew and holding a microphone was former ECW & WWE talent Paul Heyman. Heyman currently does weekly or sporadic blogs through the UK Sun about wrestling topics, and often times criticizes the WWE or its stars. The Heyman Hustle is his official site where you'll probably find the video he's done with Kennedy in the next week or so. Kennedy had a crowd around him with people asking who it was.

It was very likely that Kennedy was in New York for Hulk Hogan's TNA press conference on Tuesday (see video here). Mr. Kennedy is scheduled to work on Hulk Hogan's "Hulkamania" tour, and some believe that Vince McMahon may try to get Kennedy back in attempt to sabotage Hogan's tour. WWE news site Wrestlezone had an earlier speculative report that WWE may try to re-sign Mr. Kennedy and Wrestling Observer reported that Kennedy was not signed to TNA, because his management team advised him not to. Since leaving WWE, Kennedy has wrestled for World Wrestling Council's 2009 Anniversary against Eddie Fatu (Umaga) and defeated Chuck Palumbo for the NWE Heavyweight Championship in the Nu-Wrestling Evolution promotion in this past year.

While it's unknown for sure why Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson was in New York, the superstar has been out of pro-wrestling work for months since his firing by WWE. The firing came back on May 29, 2009 over complaints from other wrestlers (including Randy Orton) and injuries caused by Kennedy due to some botched moves in the ring. He was fired within 1 week after his return to the ring on WWE Raw from injury. Kennedy also has started an acting career when he appeared in the straight-to-DVD flick "Behind Enemy Lines 2", a film heavily promoted by WWE.

Update 10/27: Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have officially signed with WWE's competitor, TNA wrestling. See more info here. Video here

Umaga is Released by WWE

Just recently a surprise move came when the WWE released returning superstar, Mr. Kennedy from its roster in the same week he returned to Raw. No real reason was given but gossip and rumors seemed to indicate Kennedy was in hot water with Randy Orton, and even worse with Vince McMahon.

Now the WWE has surprisingly released another if its talents, the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga (Eddie Fatu). The WWE put the following short release statement on its website just hours ago.

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Umaga as of today, June 8, 2009. WWE wishes Umaga the best in all future endeavors.

The WWE has always been bizarre but these lack of explanations not only hurt the product but the fans. Umaga was just recently in a Samoan Strap match with CM Punk at Extreme Rules, which Umaga lost. There was no serious injury and now no explanation for another superstar's release. It can always be speculated that Umaga was released for drug violations, as he was part of a massive suspension by WWE years back. He was listed in the articles by Sports Illustrated and Washington Post as one of several WWE stars to have purchased pharmaceuticals from an online pharmacy, violating the Wellness program policies.

Umaga has defintely made for one of the more entertaining and savage characters in recent WWE history, a throwback to the Wild Samoans, Kamala and the Headshrinkers. He was part of an interesting feud with CM Punk on Smackdown where he kept preventing Punk from capturing the World Heavyweight Title. Punk finally got the Bulldozer off his back so to speak, and now he really won't have to worry about Umaga standing in his way again. It's a shame to see this guy gone, and now we're most likely to see not only Mr. Kennedy but also Umaga wrestling in that six-sided ring on TNA.

More News on Mr. Kennedy's Release

More news has come out regarding the surprise firing of WWE Superstar Mr. Kennedy less than a week after he made his surprise return to WWE Raw. It seems there were some major problems going on between Orton and Kennedy backstage where Orton gave Kennedy a "dressing down" backstage. The incident may have stemmed from Orton being dropped hard by Kennedy on his surgically repaired shoulder during the 10-man All-Star tag match on Raw. Later after Raw, several other WWE Superstars besides Orton, went to talk to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon about how they felt about Kennedy as well.

From F4WOnline.com:

Vince was already in a bad mood due to the whole NBA debacle and lost his cool on the plane ride back home. Vince cut a "scathing promo" on Kennedy and talked about how he was reckless, a green worker and clueless when it comes to business instincts and a huge liability. Nobody in creative or talent relations was willing to say a word in Kennedy's defense.

The feeling was that he was too frustrating to deal with because whenever you came up with an idea for him, there was a good chance it would be scrapped because of injury or something else. Vince was so mad that he said Kennedy was on the "do not call list" which very few people make. Considering all the circumstances at the time, Vince may have ended up cooling down but as of Friday, Vince was in a "he'll never work here again" type mood.

In addition to the two stars who buried Kennedy to Vince, there were reports of two more major stars also buried him, saying they hated working with him and thought he was "horrible and clumsy." These four stars who buried Kennedy aren't named directly but are multi-time World Champions and it doesn't get any more influential than three of them with the fourth guy being on his way. All of them have worked regularly with Kennedy in the past.

24Wrestling Newsboard had the following commentary about the situation, with respect to Kennedy possibly going to WWE's competitor:

Management feels that they tried to count on Mr. Kennedy and push him, but before they knew it he got hurt each time. WWE management isn’t stressing the possibility of him becoming a big star in TNA, and feels that if they do sign him then he’s their problem.

Some sources flat out say that if it wasn’t for the Behind Enemy Lines movie he did, he would have been gone already because he had worn out his welcome.

(Source: 24Wrestling Newsboard)

Kennedy added a bit of comic relief to his recent firing with this video he posted on Facebook, showing he wasn't fired due to any sort of wrist injury.

Mr. Kennedy Released by WWE

Shocking news from World Wrestling Entertainment involving WWE Raw Superstar, Mr. Kennedy. According to WWE.com, Kennedy was released Friday, May 29, 2009. WWE released the following brief statement on its website:

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Raw Superstar Mr. Kennedy (Ken Kennedy) as of today, May, 29 2009. WWE wishes Ken the best in all future endeavors.

Kennedy had just recently made a surprise return to WWE Raw where he was the 5th mystery tag team partner in a 10 man All-Star tag match. Kennedy was on the "good guy" Lakers side along with John Cena, Batista, Jerry Lawler and MVP, and looked good in the ring. His team won as MVP scored the winning pinfall. Earlier in the night, Kennedy interrupted WWE Champ Randy Orton and threw his name into possible future title contenders.

Kennedy's a former United States Champion and winner of the 2007 Money in the Bank contest at Wrestlemania. Unfortunately he was injury-plagued since then, and never officially got the big push for a major title. It seemed Monday as if that push was right around the corner. Now it comes as quite a shock to see the release of Kennedy, a popular WWE star associated with the 'Mr Kennneeedddyyy... Kennedy' double name announcement who was famous for cutting promos with a mic that dropped down from up above.

As of now, there's no word on why Kennedy was released in less than a week after his surprise return, but speculation running rampant. He was suspended once under WWE's Wellness policy yet claimed he received an outdated prescription from a man he thought was a doctor. He's also been in hot water with WWE for discussing how he felt the Policy was too severe when it came to preventing steroid use. The injury bug may be the ultimate reason for Kennedy's release. He was out for nine months with a dislocated shoulder, and apparently suffered a wrist injury this past Monday on Raw. Expect WWE's main competitor, TNA, to snatch up this highly marketable and entertaining wrestling superstar.

2009 WWE Supplemental Draft Results

The WWE had coverage of its Supplemental Draft for 2009 over on WWE.com where several superstars have now officially switched rosters. In total, 24 different names were moved amongst the various rosters. Notably, several tag teams and pairings have been broken apart with this draft which will make things interesting on the different TV shows. Below is a list of all 24 supplemental draft moves featuring the various superstars and divas and which roster they were drafted to. This concludes the 2009 WWE draft moves.

1) Mr. Kennedy - drafted to RAW
2) Shad Gaspard - drafted to Smackdown
3) Alicia Fox - drafted to Smackdown
4) Primo Colon - drafted to RAW
5) Mike Knox - drafted to SmackDown
6) Ezekiel Jackson - drafted to ECW
7) Nikki Bella - drafted to Raw
8) Candice Michelle - drafted to Smackdown
9) Zack Ryder - drafted to ECW
10) Chavo Guerrero - drafted to Raw
11) Ricky Ortiz - drafted to Smackdown
12) Layla - drafted to Smackdown
13) Hornswoggle - drafted to Raw
14) DH Smith - drafted to ECW
15) John Morrison - drafted to Smackdown
16) Carlito - drafted to Raw
17) Natalya - drafted to ECW
18) Festus - drafted to Raw
19) JTG - drafted to Smackdown
20) Dolph Ziggler - drafted to Smackdown
21) The Brian Kendrick - drafted by Raw
22) Charlie Haas - drafted by Smackdown
23) Hurricane Helms - drafted by ECW
24) Brie Bella - drafted by Raw

Commentary: So things have become even more monstrous in the land of extreme. ECW gains yet another behemoth wrestler in Ezekiel Jackson who is of course The Brian Kendrick's bodyguard from Smackdown. Jackson is definitely a heavyweight caliber competitor and can compete for the ECW belt. Along with him, DH Smith makes the move to ECW as does Natalya, officially. Many are already suggesting a new Hart foundation will form with Tyson Kidd there as well. Also, the unified tag team champions have been moved to Raw, while Cryme Tyme moves to Smackdown. Alicia Fox is drafted to Smackdown, taking her away from DJ Gabriel, as are Mike Knox and Shad Gaspar of Cryme Tyme, breaking up a third tag team. Meanwhile Raw will regain superstar Mr. Kennedy.....Kennedy! It's going to be very interesting to see how the various stars Hornswoggle, Alicia Fox, Festus do now that they've been moved away from their allies (Finlay, DJ Gabriel, Jesse). During WWE Universe's live coverage of the supplemental draft Howard "The Fink" Finkel posed a very important question "Who's going to ring the bell for Festus if he needs it?" A good question indeed.

Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia - DVD Review

behind enemy lines colombia mr kennedy dvd

WWE Superstar Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson's first motion picture role comes in the straight-to-DVD action shoot em' up film Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia. If you watch Raw, ECW or Smackdown on television you most likely were bombarded with the previews for the film as well as behind the scenes vignettes with cast and crew interviews. The movie is the third sequel in a series of films following "2001's Behind Enemy Lines" and "2006's Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil". It's official release to DVD and Blu-ray was back on January 6, 2009. Recently, I added the film to the Netflix queue in order to see how Mr. Kennedy held up in his first on(DVD)-screen role.

With a tagline of "Framed. Abandoned. But never defeated", the movie plot involves a specially trained group of Navy Seals performing recon on a meeting involving insurgent guerilla terrorists in Colombia known as "FARC". This comes on the heels of a recent explosion which killed several civilians in Bogota and peaceful negotiations are being sought. While the SEALS are observing things, an attack happens at the meeting, and one of their own men is taken hostage. Soon after, the government begins labeling the SEALS as assassins, saying they invaded to kill off peace talks between the government and the FARC. The remaining 2 or 3 fugitive seals in Colombia begin working to clear their names from the apparent set up while trying to rescue the hostage. Amongst the SEALS, WWE's Mr. Kennedy stars as MCPO Carter Holt and lends some bits of comedy to the role with a few jokes scattered throughout the tenseness of the team sneaking through the jungles. Also starring in the film are Joe Manganiello, Keith David and Steven Bauer (Scarface). The Colombia movie is full of gunshots, running and yelling but nothing new in terms of the overdone search and rescue military/action genre.

As with most action movies this isn't on pace to win any big awards and the plot is a far cry from anything new or original. Navy SEALS watching this might be entertained or they might be insulted by some of the sloppy tactics. The movie's also a violent one but not quite as violent as Austin's "The Condemned". Of course some of the action and violence scenes in this one were way overdone. For example, they try to overemphasize troops getting shot up by slowing down the scene to show the hits. Also, seeing a watermelon get shot up on a table while there's an all out gun fight inside a building seems like a waste of footage. Of course that's a small detail, but the majority of the movie involves yelling, running and shooting in the jungle. At times it can get confusing as to who's who, so luckily Kennedy is pretty identifiable to wrestling fans. Overall, I'd say it's good this came straight to DVD because it definitely wouldn't warrant the $10 price of admission for movie tickets these days.

After seeing movies with other WWE stars Glenn "Kane" Jacobs, Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena, Mr. Kennedy clearly seems to have some great potential for roles outside of WWE. He's got the personality and in this role glimpses of his talent shine through at times. Not what you'd called Oscar-worthy, but definitely charismatic while the other WWE actors seem to be coming to grips with escaping their wrestler personas in their various movie roles. Stone Cold and Kane showed this more so than Cena, but after "12 Rounds", Cena's been getting dissed for lack of personality in the role. I don't know that Mr. Kennedy will be getting any bigtime roles that trump those Cena is getting. Kennedy could easily transition into made for TV movies or a recurring TV role beyond his Smackdown wrestler and do quite well with it. While the performance in Colombia wasn't groundbreaking it's Kennedy's arrival on the movie acting scene and he just may have a bright future ahead. Of course seeing him back in the wrestling ring with WWE isn't a bad deal for us fans either.

Rated R for violence and language, Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia
has a running time of 1 hour 34 minutes from WWE Studios, and is currently available at Amazon.com on DVD or Blu-Ray. The DVD also includes plenty of special features such as behind the scenes of the stunt work, a feature on the casting of Mr. Kennedy, original movie trailers, and a blooper/comedy reel.

Smackdown Recap 01.09.09

Smackdown Recap from East Rutherford, New Jersey:

Tonight's Smackdown featured "Triple Jeopardy" for The Game, Triple H. After last week's insulting jokes from HHH, Smackdown's GM Vickie Guerrero ordered that he must compete in three matches during the show; a Tables match, a Handicap match, and a Last Man Standing Match. Match 1 would be the Tables match with opponent John Morrison.

Triple H vs John Morrison
Tables Match

Triple H's first "Triple Jeopardy" match pitted him against John Morrison. The winner would be the first to slam their opponent through a table. Triple H managed to gain the upperhand and tossed Morrison over the top rope onto a table set up outside the ring. Morrison smashed through the table breaking it, giving Triple H the victory.

Afterwards, The Miz came out to distract Triple H. Chavo Guerrero snuck into the ring and then slammed Triple H through a table already set up. Referees had to help Triple H backstage.

Winner: Triple H wins the Tables Match over John Morrison.

Backstage, Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero let Triple H know he still has 2 more matches to compete in tonight.

The Undertaker vs Shelton Benjamin

After Shelton made his way to the ring, footage was shown backstage of Vickie Guerrero informing Triple H he still has 2 matches to go tonight. In the match, Shelton and Undertaker put on quite a show. Shelton managed to escape the Last Ride, but then got caught in the Tombstone Piledriver. Undertaker made the pin for the victory.

Winner: The Undertaker wins via pinfall over Shelton Benjamin.

The Bella Twins were shown walking backstage on their way to the ring for the next match.

The Bella Twins vs Michelle McCool & Victoria

In a quick Smackdown WWE divas match, Victoria missed on a moonsault attempt allowing one of the twins to roll her into a pinfall. Michelle McCool was enraged about losing and attacked Victoria. Michelle hit her finisher on Victoria then left up the ramp to a chorus of loud boos from the audience.

Winners: The Bella Twins win via pinfall over Victoria & Michelle McCool.

Triple H vs The Miz & Chavo Guerrero
Handicap Match

Triple H fought two men in his second contest for the "Triple Jeopardy" theme. It ended after Chavo walked off on his partner The Miz. Triple H was able to hit The Pedigree on The Miz and got the pinfall. Following HHH's victory, GM Vickie Guerrero appeared on the Titantron and informed HHH he would face the Big Show for his Last Man Standing match.

Winner: Triple H wins via pinfall over The Miz & Chavo Guerrero.

MVP's VIP Lounge with Mr. Kennedy

MVP had Kennedy come to the ring and the two began arguing back and forth. Kennedy made fun of MVP for continually losing each week. MVP told him at least he's wrestling each week. WWE staff came down to take away the furniture and props for the VIP Lounge. Mr. Kennedy joked that the VIP Lounge was being repossessed. Kennedy told MVP it could be worse, then left the ring with MVP still inside, The Boogeyman's music hit. Boogeyman came out from under the ring, then got into the ring to slam MVP. MVP quickly escaped the ring. The VIP Lounge ended with Boogeyman celebrating with a handful of worms.

The Brian Kendrick & Ezekiel Jackson vs. Carlito & Primo
WWE Tag Team Title Match

In this matchup the current champs were able to successfully defend and retain their titles. Carlito hit his finisher the Backstabber on Brian Kendrick to grab the pinfall victory.

Winners: Carlito & Primo win via pinfall over Brian Kendrick & Ezekiel Jackson to retain the WWE Tag Team titles.

Smackdown commentators Jim Ross and Tazz ran down the current list of 2009 Royal Rumble matches.

Triple H vs. Big Show
Last Man Standing Match

This marked the third and final "Triple Jeopardy" match for The Game as he faced the mammoth Big Show in a Last Man Standing match. Early on, Big Show seemed in complete control, but thanks to the fan support, HHH came back to life.

During the match, both men were down for counts of 9 and barely managed to get to their feet. Big Show was able to get up at one point after being hit with The Pedigree. Later, Show countered another Pedigree attempt from HHH, then was able to Chokeslam The Game outside on the commentators' table. The table didn't break, and Triple H got up by 9. Big Show followed up with a knockout punch which left HHH down for the 10 count.

Following the loss, the referees assisted Triple H backstage. Vickie Guerrero arrived to the ramp and just stared at HHH on his way up the ramp.

Winner: The Big Show wins the Last Man Standing Match when Triple H failed to respond to the referee's count.

Smackdown Recap 08.01.08

Smackdown Recap from Hershey, PA:

Smackdown's opener included highlights of the events between Edge and Vickie Guerrero, including Edge cheating with the wedding planner Alicia, and asking for Vickie's forgiveness at the end of last week's show. Vickie dropped the bombshell on her former lover that he'd be facing Undertaker, who she reinstated to WWE in her time of anger and grief.

Jim Ross informed Smackdown viewers that Edge will have a special guest later tonight on Cutting Edge. Jeff Hardy made his way to the ring to sit near the commentary table and observe the first match.

Jimmy Wang Yang vs. MVP

Before the match started, MVP took the mic and spoke directly to Jeff Hardy at ringside. MVP started telling Jeff he'll never be WWE champ because he keeps engaging in reckless behavior. MVP said he'll show Jeff how it's done now, and asked for the match to begin.

At one point Yang whipped MVP to the corner then ran over and hit him in the face with his legs. Yang went over the rope onto the side apron then jumped on the corner ropes. As Yang jumped at MVP, MVP slapped him down to the mat. With Yang down on the mat, MVP charged from the other side of the ring and delivered a serious boot to Yang's head. MVP took the pinfall victory right before Jeff Hardy came into the ring with a mic.

Jeff warned MVP to never mention his home, the fire or deceased dog again, or he'd prove how tough he is. MVP shrugged it off and turned to leave the ring, then tried to strike Hardy. Hardy blocked and hit the Twist of Fate, then delivered several kicks to MVP while he was down.

Winner: MVP wins via pinfall over Jimmy Wang Yang.

Chavo was shown pushing Vickie in her wheelchair backstage saying he hasn't heard anything yet. They came towards Vickie's office, then saw Alicia Fox, the wedding planner talking to a WWE staff member. Vickie shot her a sly grin before Chavo pushed Vickie's wheelchair into her office.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Mr. Kennedy

Kennedy faced a tough test in taking on the recent US Champ in a 1 on 1 bout. Benjamin had the advantage as he tried to use a backslide pin on Kennedy. Kennedy countered to get out and tried for his own backslide pin. Benjamin escaped the move and sent Kennedy to the ropes. Kennedy was able to come back and kick Benjamin while he had his head down, then quickly hit the Mic Check to pick up a big win.

After the match, Shelton exited the ring carrying his US title. Eve Torres was at ringside as Shelton left and asked for his insight into what just happened. Shelton said he doesn't make excuses, but probably shouldn't have been wrestling tonight due to acute Bronchitis. Shelton walked up the ramp slowly with the title as fans booed.

Winner: Mr. Kennedy wins via pinfall over Shelton Benjamin.

Backstage, Ryder and Hawkins were talking when Chavo rushed into the locker room. Chavo asked what Alica Fox was doing at Smackdown and where Edge was. Ryder and Hawkins said they had no idea and Chavo asked them to help out. Chavo left the locker room and Ryder & Hawkins went back to talking.

Highlights were shown of last week's match between Brian Kendrick and Shannon Moore. Kendrick was able to pick up the win thanks to his large bodyguard at ringside who distracted Moore just enough. Kendrick boasted on the mic that he's the reason everyone pays to see Smackdown now.

Stevie Richards vs. Brian Kendrick

Kendrick was accompanied to the ring by his bodyguard, Ezekiel. Prior to the match, Kendrick took the mic and said he originally got his foot in the door at WWE by finding any old partner, like Paul London. Kendrick said he doesn't really care about any of the fans, but if they have a problem with it then can talk to his bodyguard Ezekiel.

During the match, Kendrick took control and began to kick away at Richards down on the mat. Ezekiel glared at Richards while Kendrick ran at him for another move. Richards escaped and gained momentum, taking a near pinfall. Richards hit a Powerbomb and had another near pinfall. Kendrick rolled under the bottom rope to the side apron and tried to ram Richards in the gut. Richards ran and kicked Kendrick in the face, but as Kendrick fell off the apron his bodyguard caught him in the air. Ezekiel put Kendrick back into the ring as Richards came out. Kendrick was able to run at Richards and yank his head down against the top rope due to Ezekiel's distraction. Kendrick finished Richards off with his DDT style move off the corner ropes to win it.

After the match, Ezekiel grabbed Richards and hoisted him up in a backbreaker, then dropped him to the mat

Winner: Brian Kendrick wins via pinfall over Stevie Richards.

Edge was shown walking backstage at Smackdown, preparing for his Cutting Edge show in the ring later on.

Jeff Hardy vs. Great Khali

Khali toyed with Hardy for some time as he knocked him around the ring with headbutts and chops, then took him to the corner. Khali continued to hammer away at Hardy and chop his chest despite fans trying to get Hardy going. Jeff finally started to fight back and Khali had backed off. As Jeff went to the corner ropes, Khali slapped him causing Jeff to spill to the outside.

Jeff gained serious momentum after a commercial break, eventually hitting a Swanton Bomb on Great Khali. Jeff was ready for the pin, but spotted MVP at ringside. Hardy ran over and dropkicked MVP through the ropes, then dove over the ropes onto MVP. MVP got up and rammed Jeff to the apron to keep him there for Khali. Khali grabbed Hardy over the ropes and brought him into the ring then slapped him to the mat. Jeff tried to get to his feet and Khali gripped him around the head with his hands to squeeze Hardy's energy out. Jeff eventually fell to his knees and then to the mat. The ref called for the bell, awarding the match to Khali.

MVP stared at the fallen Hardy in the ring as Khali stayed in the ring with his handler Singh. After Khali left, MVP got into the ring and posed above Hardy on the mat to taunt him.

Winner: The Great Khali wins via submission over Jeff Hardy.

A promo video was shown of new superstar R-Truth, headed to Smackdown soon. Truth claimed he's a free man again, and "that's the truth".

Maria vs.Victoria

WWE Diva Maria made her Smackdown debut, fighting against Victoria. Victoria took control early on as she took Maria down to the mat and had her in several submission holds to wear her down. Victoria continued to dominate using a spinning sideslam, but couldn't capture the pinfall. Maria slid out under the bottom ropes to regroup then slid back in as Victoria came out. Maria was able to land a headscissors on Victoria, but got powerslammed as she came off the ropes.

At one point, Victoria charged at Maria in the corner. Maria jumped up with the corner ropes then kicked Victoria away. Maria jumped off the ropes for a clothesline to take Victoria down for a pin.

Winner: Maria wins via pinfall over Victoria.

In a backstage hall, Edge told Alicia Fox he got her a ticket for up close in the audience so she could see the big moment on Cutting Edge later on.

A promotional video was shown chronicling the impressive career of current WWE champion, Triple H. Jim Ross remarked about how great HHH is and what a great Summerslam it will be. Mick Foley and JR ran down the list of current Summerslam matches including Cena vs. Batista and Triple H vs. Great Khali. The match between Undertaker and Edge was also highlighted which will be a Hell in a Cell match.

Domino vs. Big Show

Early in the contest, Domino tried to grip Show around the midsection from behind. Show escaped easily, then tossed Domino out through the bottom ropes.

Domino went for several punches to Show's head but as he came off the ropes, Show knocked him down with a solid boot to the face. After several more moves, Show finished off the quick match by Chokeslamming Domino the mat for a pin.

After the match had ended, Show stood in the ring and was about to leave. All of a sudden, Umaga came down to the ring looking upset. The Samoan Bulldozer entered the ring and he and Show stared one another down, pacing around.

Winner: Big Show wins via pinfall over Domino.

The camera cut to a backstage office with Chavo talking to Vickie Guerrero. Chavo informed Vickie he's asked around to find out who the mystery guest but has no leads. Chavo told Vickie they'd have to wait and find out like everyone else, next.

The Cutting Edge w/Mystery Guest

Edge came to the ring to mixed crowd reaction. A ladder, chair and table were set up in the ring for Edge's show. Edge sat in the steel chair then discussed how all week he's been searching for inner peace about his rough marriage and Summerslam match with Undertaker. Edge said tonight to find inner peace he surrounded himself in the ring with Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Edge said it's these items that helped him originally banish Taker from WWE. Edge said he also found the one person to help him survive Hell in a Cell and defeat Undertaker.

Edge introduced his mystery guest, the person who knows Undertaker better than anyone else. Edge rolled out under the ropes then shouted his guest was Mick Foley. Edge begged for Mick to get into the ring as his guest. Foley obliged and left his commentary position to get into the ring. Edge said he knows Foley still has something lingering in him, and rolled footage of the "Attitude Era" of WWE which included Mankind vs. Undertaker in Hell in a Cell. In the classic match, Taker threw Foley off the cage onto the announce table. Foley got off a stretcher to come back and fight, but was thrown through the top of the cage, then Tombstoned by Undertaker.

Edge complimented Foley on walking away from the match on his own. Edge said he's seen Foley try to walk properly since the match, but knows he can't do it. Edge tried to incite Foley, saying he can tell Foley still hurts from that match. Edge told Foley if he helps him, he can exercise the demon of the Undertaker. Foley said he's always said Edge has been the greatest superstar in WWE. Foley said the fans believe Edge sucks because he's always taking the easy way out to win. Foley said he won't help him, but knows the one person who can help him, himself. Foley told Edge to find that great superstar inside of himself not the one who professed undying love to Vickie.

Edge became enraged by Foley's speech, then clocked him. Edge went to the outside after Foley, but Foley fought back. Foley went under the ring and retrieved a chair then rushed at Edge. Edge kicked the chair into Foley's face, then speared Foley into the metal stairs. In the ring, Edge moved the ladder into the corner and set the table up center ring. Foley got back into the ring under the bottom rope, and tried to put the Mandible Claw in Edge's mouth. Edge gave a low blow then put Foley on the table. Grabbing a chair, Edge jumped off the ladder and slammed the chair down across Foley, breaking the table. As Smackdown ended, Edge stood over the fallen Foley, smiling.

Smackdown Recap 07.11.08

Smackdown recap from Baton Rouge, LA:

Smackdown opened with highlights of the meltdown that occurred last week between Edge and Vickie Guerrero. Edge became furious with Vickie who said she hadn't given him permission to go to Raw where he lost the title to CM Punk. Edge exploded later on after he and Vickie argued yet again, and Vickie locked Edge out of her office. In the ring, Edge spoke about how the person who should be by his side isn't. Edge was just about to expose secrets about Vickie until she came out to the top of the ramp. Edge ended the show by going up to Vickie and telling her their wedding is officially off.

Edge came down to the ring to start off Smackdown, addressing how he thought over his actions from last week. Edge said he stands by his statement and the wedding will still be off. Edge added in that Vickie isn't good enough for him and that now he will prove all his critics wrong by winning the WWE title at the Great American Bash, alone.

Ryder & Hawkins wheeled Vickie Guerrero out to the ramp to interrupt Edge. Vickie Guerrero told Edge she is the real General Manager of Smackdown so she arranged a match for him tonight. Vickie announced a No Disqualification match for Edge against Big Show to help him prepare for Great American Bash. Vickie smirked as she finisher her announcement. Edge began to yell back that he's not afraid of Big Show and by the end of tonight, Show will be a loser just like Vickie. Vickie ordered WWE staff to cut Edge's microphone so he couldn't yell anymore as Smackdown went to commercial.

When Smackdown returned a promotional video package was shown of WWE Diva Maria Kanellis announcing that she is "Coming Soon" to Smackdown.

Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

The United States Champ fought in a non-title bout against the "Gold Standard", both members of the ECW roster. At one point in the match, Matt went up on the corner and Shelton ran and jumped up at him. Matt was able to shove Shelton away and down to the mat. Matt attempted a Twist of Fate but Shelton shoved Matt to the ropes then hit a massive powerslam. Matt barely escaped a pinfall.

Matt had another attempt at Twist of Fate, but Shelton was able to grab the ropes to prevent it. Matt began to pound away on Shelton down by the ropes but the ref pulled Matt back to stop him. Out of nowhere, Shelton mustered the energy up to run towards Matt and grab him to slam him down with a finisher. Shelton collected the pinfall victory and put himself into the hunt for the US title.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin wins via pinfall over Matt Hardy.

Backstage, Ryder and Hawkins told Vickie they wouldn't get involved in her feud with Edge. Ryder & Hawkins asked for a revenge matchup against Jesse and Festus to prove they could beat them, then told Vickie she deserves someone better than Edge. The tag team told Vickie they'll be there for her if she needs them, and Vickie began to cry.

Mr. Kennedy vs. Domino

MVP joined Jim Ross and Mick Foley to commentate on the match. Prior to the match, Kennedy spoke about how he's back to change Friday nights, and is more valuable than MVP.

Kennedy built up momentum against Domino after being worn down some. Kennedy went for a splash off the ropes, but Domino was able to catch him with both knees. Thinking he had Kennedy stunned, Domino went for him. Kennedy ducked the attempted move and grabbed Domino, hitting the Mic Check to win it.

Kennedy gloated about his win looking out at MVP who got up from the table. As Kennedy was distracted by MVP, Umaga got into the ring and delivered a serious kick to level Kennedy, followed by the Samoan Spike. MVP sat on the commentators' table and smiled at what just went down.

Winner: Mr. Kennedy wins via pinfall over Domino.

Backstage Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely were with Edge. Chavo said he couldn't blame Edge for what he did and can't believe Vickie put Edge in the match with Big Show. Chavo said he'll go straighten things out for Edge and will talk to Vickie. Chavo said that he and Edge are like brothers and will always be family. Edge thanked Chavo as he left to go talk to Vickie.

Smackdown returned with Chavo trying to talk to Vickie in her office. Chavo said they will always be Guerreros and are true family. Chavo began trying to butter up Vickie, but Vickie wasn't having his routine. Vickie told Chavo to cut the crap and to prepare for a match later tonight against Triple H.

Finlay & Hornswoggle vs. The Miz & John Morrison

The WWE Tag champs faced the father-son team in a non-title bout. During the match, Miz & Morrison took advantage of Hornswoggle being in the ring. At one point, Miz and Morrison each stood on Hornswoggle and tried to keep him away from the tag. Eventually, Hornswoggle was able to deliver a spinning kick to the back of Morrison's head. Horney jumped over for the tag to Finlay who came in to start clotheslining down Morrison.

Finlay was able to hit the Celtic Cross on Morrison to slam him down for a pinfall. While trying to pin Morrison, Finlay was hit by Miz as he came into the ring. Finlay rolled over towards his corner with Hornswogle who snuck him a shilaleigh. As Miz tagged in, the ref was still trying to get Morrison out of the ring. Finlay ran over and clocked Miz over the head with the shilaleigh. A tag was made to Hornswoggle who got on the corner turnbuckle and hit the Tadpole Splash for the win.

Winners: Finlay & Hornswoggle win via pinfall over Miz and Morrison.

Smackdown returned to take a look at the behind the scenes of Jeff Hardy's WWE Magazine cover shoot. The theme involved Jeff doing a "Tom Cruise Mission Impossible" pictorial where he was suspended from a rope similar to a scene from the Mission Impossible film. The WWE belt was featured in the pictures as a symbol that Jeff is on a mission to achieve the title.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Triple H

Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero let her fury be known by scheduling Chavo to face the current WWE champion. In the match, Bam Neely tried to intimidate The Game prior to the match by standing face to face with him. Triple H didn't budge and didn't show any sign of fear during the match.

In the match, Chavo attempted to mount offense but had little success against Triple H. At one point, Triple H hit a huge Spinebuster as Chavo came off the ropes at him. Triple H got revved up for his finisher, but Bam Neely got onto the side apron to interfere. HHH ran over and punched Neely, knocking him off the apron. Chavo was back to his feet and went for a quick suplex attempt. Triple H blocked it, then reversed into the Pedigree. After driving Chavo to the mat, Triple H took the pin to win it.

Winner: Triple H wins via pinfall over Chavo Guerrero.

Smackdown returned with Jim Ross and Mick Foley discussing the upcoming Divas Championship which will be decided at the Great American Bash. Michelle McCool will battle Natalya for the right to be called first ever WWE Divas Champion.

Cherry & Michelle McCool vs. Maryse & Natalya

During the divas tag team matchup, Cherry started to gain momentum against Natalya for a bit. Cherry ran off the ropes and tried to hit a flying bodypress, but Natalya caught her in the air. Natalya tossed Cherry down against the ropes, hurting Cherry's knee. Natalya started to exploit the hurt knee and was eventually able to throw a quick Sharpshooter onto Cherry. Cherry quickly tapped out and started holding her knee after the bell. Natalya slid out of the ring and Michelle went over to check on Cherry.

Natalya snuck back into the ring and attacked Michelle from behind, bringing her to the outside. Natalya hit a huge snap suplex to leave Michelle laying outside the ring. Natalya said she'd be the champ, then let out a laugh as she stood next to the WWE Divas Championship belt at ringside.

Winners: Natalya and Maryse win via submission over Cherry and Michelle McCool.

Highlights were shown of last week's victory by Jesse and Festus over Ryder and Hawkins. After the bell rang, Festus went into his post-match stupor. An angry Edge charged down to the ring and attacked Festus while Ryder and Hawkins held Jesse back. Edge used a chair to smash down across Festus before leaving the ring.

Jesse & Festus vs. Ryder & Hawkins

Festus went wild in the ring during the match as he attacked Ryder. Festus was able to drop Ryder to the mat, but Ryder moved away on Festus' splash attempt. Ryder quickly went over and rolled under the bottom rope then had a time-out conference with his tag partner. The ref held Festus back from going after the tag team which eventually jumped out of the ring. The referee counted a full 10, counting out Ryder & Hawkins to give Jesse & Festus the victory.

Ryder & Hawkins seemed to have outsmarted Festus because the bell rang after they were counted out. The duo got into the ring and attacked Jesse, eventually tossing him out of the ring so they could go after Festus. Ryder & Hawkins tackled Festus down and began to beat him up with Jesse outside the ring. Jesse was able to crawl over and ring the bell himself to re-ignite Festus' rage. Festus turned into a monster yet again and fought back against Ryder/Hawkins. Jesse slid into the ring to help Festus beat up their opponents who soon retreated out of the ring.

Winners: Jesse & Festus win due to countout of Ryder & Hawkins.

Stevie Richards vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Kozlov arrived to the ring with pulsating theme music for the first time in his WWE career. The undefeated superstar got into the ring and was all business yet again against veteran Stevie Richards.

In the match, Kozlov withstood Stevie Richards' attack and dropkick to fight back. Kozlov sent Richards to the ring corner where he used a foot in his throat to choke him. Kozlov continued to impress with a Fireman's Carry takeover and then squeezed a Bodyscissors hold around Richards' midsection. Kozlov continued to withstand Richards' punches and kicks, although a spinning kick to the back of Kozlov' head knocked him down. Richards went to jump at Kozlov in the corner, but Kozlov moved away then grabbed Richards. Kozlov delivered a battering ram type headbutt to the back of Richards' head then pinned him down on the mat.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Stevie Richards.

Backstage, Chavo, Edge, Bam Neely, Ryder & Hawkins all began to argue about who had whose back. Edge finally told them all to shutup. Edge said he has a No DQ match coming up against Big Show. Everyone began shouting again, but Vickie Guerrero rolled into the locker room and interrupted. Vickie said if anyone interferes to help Edge they are fired and if Edge purposely leaves the match he's fired. Vickie told Edge to head out to the ring and take his beating like a man.

Jim Ross and Mick Foley ran down the lineup for the Great American Bash PPV prior to the main event. Matches include Edge vs. Triple H for the WWE Title, and Batista taking on CM Punk for the World Heavyweight title.

Edge vs. Big Show
No DQ Match

Vickie Guerrero came to ringside to watch Edge fight in the main event. Big Show was able to bring Edge to the outside and manhandle him in front of the commentators' table. Edge was tossed into the security wall near the audience, then Big Show removed the top of the table. Show delivered a huge chest chop to Edge against the wall, then picked him up to try to slam him down on the table. Edge slid off Big Show then delivered a huge Spear to bring Show down. Both men were layed out as Smackdown headed to commercial.

When Smackdown returned, Edge became distracted trying to yell at Vickie Guerrero ringside. Show threw Edge into the steel steps, then used a huge chest chop to send Edge into the audience. Edge came back to jump off the wall and bring Show back down to the floor with a Bulldog. Edge tossed Show back in the ring and went at him, but Show shoved him to the corner. Edge was able to deliver a boot to Show then jumped on his back for a sleeper hold. Show seemed to be wearing down from the hold as he went down to one knee on the mat. Show fought back though, stood up and did a side slam on Edge to the mat.

With Vickie looking on, Show was able to grab Edge with the chokeslam hold. Show went for the Chokeslam, but Edge countered to hit a DDT. Edge couldn't get the pin so he went to the outside to grab two steel chairs. Show delivered a punch into the chair as Edge came at him. Show went for a Chokeslam yet again, but this time Edge hit him with a Low Blow. Edge grabbed a steel chair and smashed it across Show's back. Edge was about to go for a Con-Chairto, but Show grabbed him around the neck and slammed Edge to the mat. Show put a chair under Edge's head and prepared for a Con-Chairto of his own.

From ringside, Vickie Guerrero screamed for Show to stop, then yelled for them to "Stop the Fight". The bell rang as Vickie slid into the ring and put herself over Edge, hugging him. Edge slowly came to, groggily, not quite realizing what was going on. Vickie continued to coddle Edge as he sat up. Vickie mouthed to Edge that she loved him and continued to speak to him as Edge looked her in the eyes. Edge mouthed back "I Love You" to Vickie and the two embraced passionately before Smackdown ended.

Winner: No winner as Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero ordered the match to be stopped.

Raw Preview 06.16.08

Last week's episode of Raw saw John Cena and Triple H both looking to gain the upperhand, as they head into their title match at Night of Champions. Each wrestler interfered in the other's match, with Cena costing Triple H a win against Jeff Hardy. As the Game and Cena faced off outside the ring, it was Jeff Hardy who leaped over the top rope and crashed down onto both men. How will Hardy be included in the equation with Cena & HHH? Will there be a main event involving all 3 wrestlers on tonight's show?

Last week also saw Chris Jericho viciously attack Shawn Michaels, after pretending he was star struck by HBK. Michaels painted the picture of the Showstopper as his idol, mentor and friend. But only moments later, Jericho was beating Michaels around the ring and smashing him into the flat screen TV for the Highlight Reel. Will Michaels be able to respond to Jericho on tonight's Raw? What will each man have to say about last week?

As for the WWE Divas, Melina continues to be a thorn in the side of the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix. Melina attacked Beth last week following a match against Mickie James. As for Raw superstars, Paul Burchill continues to blindside Mr. Kennedy, extending their feud as well. What will go down amongst these superstars and divas on tonight's show?

Last week also saw the first night of WWE's "Million Dollar Mania", hosted by WWE chairman, Vince McMahon. Vince awarded lucky home viewers of the Raw show cash prizes. Some fans received as much as $250,000, while one fan received a paltry $2 prize. What will the prizes be in tonight's giveaway, and will you be amongst the winners? Remember to register at WWE.com, watch Raw for the password and keep your phone line open!

Tune in to WWE Raw Monday on USA at 9PM EST to find out if you're the next lucky winner!

WWE Suspends William Regal 60 Days

WWE Wrestler Darren Matthews, better known as William Regal, has been suspended by the WWE for 60 days, following his second violation of the WWE drug policy. The news comes just one day after Regal participated in a "Loser is Fired" match. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon arranged the match citing that fans were strongly complaining to WWE about Regal's recent actions on the Raw show. Vince also said Raw ratings drop whenever Regal appears on the show.

Here's more info from Courant.com:

Stamford-based WWE spokeswoman Jennifer McIntosh declined to say what drugs were involved. Matthews wrestles under the name William Regal.

McIntosh says there have been more than 30 suspensions under the WWE substance abuse and drug testing policy begun in 2006, which requires tests for steroids and other drugs.

A wrestler faces a 30-day suspension without pay for a first violation, a 60-day suspension for a second violation and firing for a third violation. Performers are tested at least four times per year.

Last August, WWE suspended 10 wrestlers for violations of its drug testing policy involve drug purchases, mostly human growth hormones.

On last night's episode of WWE Raw, the current General Manager of Raw and King, William Regal, was strangely fired, after Vince McMahon put him into a match versus Mr. Kennedy. The loser of the match was to be sent packing. Regal tried to cheat with brass knuckles but Mr. Kennedy was able to duck the punch and hit his finisher to win the match. At the time Regal's firing seemed to make little sense with the way his storyline had been going, but now it's much clearer. One more mess up and Regal is officially done with WWE.

WWE Brands & Mr. Kennedy!

Eric Gargiulio of PhillyBurbs.com proposes the idea that WWE brand extension may be over with. On all of the shows, ECW, Raw and Smackdown, wrestlers from the other brands have been showing up, and matches amongst all brands have been a part of each show.

Gargiulio remarks:

SmackDown is moving to a new network in September. This could have something to do with it, but it still doesn’t make much sense. Are the WWE running out of superstars? Are the writers out of ideas? Why would CM Punk be on RAW and not his own show the next night? A lot of it just doesn’t make sense.

So maybe in fact there will be no more drafts or lines drawn between brands?

My best guess is that the wrestlers will continue to appear on all 3 shows in order to promote all of the shows together as well as upcoming PPV's, which feature all brands on them. For example, Raw this past Monday helped promote Tuesday's 100th ECW episode, in order to attract more attention. In the past it did seem that certain PPV's were exclusively Smackdown matches or Raw matches, but that has ended.

Now it seems every bit of TV time is precious to hype up all of the WWE wrestlers heading into these events, some of which are just 2-3 weeks apart. Sometimes wrestlers are worked into the other shows as they may be a better fit. I don't see the individual shows ending yet, but if ratings on Smackdown/ECW drop, those 2 could still merge together. As for CM Punk he is the current "Mr. Money in the Bank", and it seems he is teasing as to which title he will aim for, but hasn't hinted so much at the ECW title.

Gargiulio's article also notes that WWE is looking to open another brand in Mexico. Read more on Is the WWE brand extension over? at Phillyburbs.com.

The National Ledger has an interesting interview with Raw superstar Ken Anderson aka "Mr. Kennedy". Kennedy discusses how he came up with his name and character, which was partly credited to WWE/ECW's Paul Heyman.

In the interview Kennedy says:

"I learned pretty early on that the best characters are those that are just extensions of your personality. You take your own personality and you turn the volume all the way up. So I spent time really finding out who I was as a person and as a wrestler and what I could and could not do, and just really fine-tuning all that stuff," said Anderson from his home near Minneapolis, where he moved to because it was easier to get connecting flights to all the far-flung locations the WWE sets up shop, all over the world."

Kennedy also discusses just what it's like to work in WWE rings with guys like the Undertaker. Read more with Mr. Kennedy here at National Ledger.

Raw Recap 05.05.08

Raw recap from Toronto, Ontario

Raw opened with highlights of William Regal as the new King of the Ring. Regal announced that as King and GM he is the most powerful entity in all of WWE. Mr. Kennedy interrupted last week's official coronation ceremony for Regal, prompting a brawl between the two in the ring. Later on during the main event match for the WWE title, Regal extracted revenge on WWE fans since he was disrespected. Regal screamed at a WWE production staff to pull the plug on the match, leaving fans with a pitch black ending for Raw.

The show opened with WWE chairman Vince McMahon standing at the top of the ramp, mic in hand. Vince spoke of how Regal did something nobody has done before by pulling the plug on the main event match. Vince said fans flooded WWE with email, letters and calls, demanding he appear on Raw to address this. Vince then added that Regal's actions were innovative and visionary, reminding him of himself. Vince said he fully endorses Regal as King and GM. Lillian Garcia was in ring and introduced the King and GM.

Regal arrived down to the ring while fans screamed and booed him. Regal said the fans will respect him, then asked if he has it. Fans booed and yelled no. Regal said he is prepared to turn the lights out at his discretion. Fans chanted Regal sucks, so Regal ordered the arena lights shut off. A dark arena was shown with chants of "Regal sucks" still going. Regal instructed for the lights to be turned back on. As Regal continued to speak, suddenly Mr. Kennedy's music hit and Kennedy came down to confront him.

The two stared each other down in the ring. Kennedy told Regal if he wants respect then he needs to go one on one with him tonight. Regal told Kennedy he's his superior and Kennedy asked him to prove it. Regal said tonight Kennedy will be featured in the main event against the entire ECW roster. Regal said this will promote ECW's 100th episode tomorrow night. Just then, HHH's music came on and The Game came down to the ring.

Triple H congratulated Regal on his new found position of power and gave him the advice to not make mistakes, like turning the lights out on his match. HHH said Regal does not want to go to war with him. Regal said HHH has a steel cage match in 2 weeks at Judgement Day, but tonight's main event will now be the entire ECW roster against Triple H & Kennedy.

Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James
Women's title Lumberjack Match

All of the current WWE divas surrounded the ring for The Glamazon's attempt to recapture the Women's championship. Early on Beth shoved Mickie to the mat to start it off. Beth continued to show her power, using a hard shoulder block to knock Mickie down, then tossing her out of the ring for heel divas to attack. The other divas came over to break it up and rescue Mickie from the attack. Victoria tossed Mickie back into the ring.

Mickie fought back and eventually countered a Beth move to get a neckbreaker. Jillian interfered prompting Mickie to exit the ring. Another diva brawl broke out, and Mickie rolled back in the ring. Beth attempted a pin as Raw hit commercial break. Raw returned with Beth holding Mickie's arms back on the mat to wear her down. Mickie eventually stood up, then dropped down to kick Beth in the face. Mickie was able to kick her way out of Beth's attempted slam move. Mickie was able to get to the corner ropes after kicking Layla away, then jumped off to land on Beth in the ring. Mickie continued to kick away, eventually kicking Beth out to the face divas.

The face divas attacked Beth then Maria tossed her back in. Beth took exception and pulled Maria into the ring. Meanwhile, Melina had snuck into the ring behind Mickie and went to hit her with a boot. Mickie moved out of the way and Melina hit Beth. Mickie knocked Melina out of the ring then rolled up Beth for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mickie James wins via pinfall over Beth Phoenix to retain the WWE Women's Championship.

Backstage, William Regal was in an office and Chris Jericho entered. Regal asked Jericho if he's sure that Shawn Michaels is faking an injury. Chris Jericho said he was 100% sure. Regal said tonight Michaels and Jericho get to face the WWE tag champs, Morrison and Miz. Regal said if Michaels isn't hurt then Jericho has nothing to worry about.

Backstage, Trevor Murdoch was singing a country song to a WWE female staff. He turned around and Trish Stratus was there looking on in disbelief. Before Trish could say anything, Ron Simmons appeared. After a moment of looking at Trish, then Trevor, Ron Simmons exclaimed "DAMN!"

Jim Ross extended congratulations to Ron Simmons for being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Todd Grisham interviewed Randy Orton back in the locker room. Grisham asked for Orton's thoughts on last week's WWE title match which Regal cut short. Orton said he doesn't necessarily agree with the decision but Regal is King and GM so he respects it. Orton said later tonight he will show CM Punk what's in store if he ever cashes in MITB on him, then in 2 weeks at Backlash the "age of Orton" resumes.

John Cutler vs. Paul Burchill & Katie Lea
2 on 1 Handicap match

Prior to the brother and sister taking on Cutler, William Regal appeared on the ramp and ordered Jim Ross' mic turned off. Regal said another man who's been disrespected like he has will provide commentary. Mike Adamle, ECW commentator came out from backstage and then joined Jerry Lawler to call the match.

The match started with Katie shoving Cutler. Burchill knocked him down the started to attack. Burchill continued choking Culter on the ropes, and Katie delivered a solid kick to his head from the apron. Katie crawled on the mat and seemed to delight in Burchill's headlock on Cutler. Cutler eventually hit Burchill away then grabbed Katie to trip her. Burchill recovered and knocked Cutler back down. Burchill held Cutler up in on his knees while Katie jumped off the ropes and landed with her feet stomping onto his back. Burchill finished Cutler off with a foot on his back to drive him face first into the mat. Katie Lea took the pin.

Winner: Paul Burchill and Katie Lea win via pinfall over John Cutler.

Mike Adamle exited after the matchup, with Lawler telling him he won't complain about his commentary because the line's too long.

Shawn Michaels shown lacing his boots up backstage when Chris Jericho entered. Jericho said he'd start the match but expects Michaels to have his back. Shawn told Y2J he can doubt him all he wants, but he really has a legit injury. Shawn said he will still do his best out there. Jericho nodded still seeming to doubt HBK before leaving.

Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho vs. The Miz & John Morrison

Michaels limped down the ramp to the ring, with Jericho looking out at him from the ring in disbelief. Jericho started off against Miz and took the upperhand. After a dropkick sent Miz to the mat, Morrison tagged in. Jericho continued to stay in control and tried to run at Morrison in the corner. Morrison moved away causing Y2J to hit the corner. At one point, Jericho tried for the Walls of Jericho. Miz was near him on the apron. Jericho ducked a clothesline by Miz and then jumped off the ropes to kick him off the apron. As Jericho got up, Morrison did a similar move to kick Jericho down.

Miz and Morrison began to play keep away with Jericho, so he couldn't tag Michaels. After both men tagged in and out, Jericho managed to get Walls of Jericho on Miz. Morrison delivered a kick to the back of Y2J's head to break it up. Morrison ran over and hit HBK in the face with a forearm. As Morrison stood up Y2J for a finisher, Michaels was back on his feet and delivered Sweet Chin Music. Jericho followed with a Lionsault off the ropes to take the pin. Michaels started to limp up the ramp as Y2J has his arm raised in victory.

Winners: Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels win via pinfall over John Morrison & The Miz.

CM Punk vs. Randy Orton

Mr. Money in the Bank took on the Legend Killer in a match set up by William Regal to promote ECW's 100th episode tomorrow night. The match started with Orton shoving Punk down. Back on his feet Punk stared down Orton. Orton was able to knock Punk down again with a shoulder block off the ropes, but Punk delivered a kick to his face. Punk knocked Orton out of the ring, then tried to jump at him from the apron. Orton got up and yanked Punk's foot out causing him to fall on his back outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Orton took control, stomping all over Punk on the mat. Orton went to jump on Punk's head with his knee. Punk moved away to escape. Punk went for a high risk move which Orton avoided, then tried for a pinfall. Punk finally gained momentum, delivering several kicks and a bulldog on Orton. Regal came out to the top of the ramp and told the audience that due to their lack of respect he was ordering the lights shut off. Regal called the match "officially over" to show his authority.

Winner: No winner as GM William Regal ordered the match officially over.

An angry Randy Orton was shown screaming at Todd Grisham backstage. Orton shouted that this is 2 weeks in a row Regal has ended his match. Orton said he's going to Regal's office now to find out what is going on.

Carlito's Cabana w/Roddy Piper

Carlito had footage shown of last week when Santino came up to Roddy Piper backstage. Santino made several remarks including an insult of Cyndi Lauper, then received a slap in the face from Piper. Carlito said it's time to clear the air now, and introduced Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Carlito welcomed Piper to the Cabana. Carlito confronted Piper for taking things too far by slapping Santino. Piper said that's how he's been his whole life. Carlito interrupted Piper and said Santino's his partner and a future tag team champ, and Carlito would have slapped him back. Piper insulted Carlito's hairstyle, and the two got ready to fight. Just then, Santino's music came on and Marella arrived down to the ring.

Santino told Carlito not to lay a hand on Piper, because he's all his. Santino reminded Piper it took him 8 years to win the Intercontinental title, but only took Santino 1 night. Piper told Santino he needs to get himself a designated driver. Carlito and Santino started to get ready to go at Piper, but just then Cody Rhodes came out to the ramp. Carlito told Cody to stay out of it, and Rhodes said he knows 2 guys dying to meet Piper. Cryme Tyme emerged from backstage and ran to the ring with Rhodes, chasing Marella & Carlito out.

With Santino & Carlito up the ramp, Big Shad took the mic and said tonight it's not about that "Money Money" but that "Rowdy Rowdy". Cryme Tyme and Rhodes led the crowd in the chant, while they all danced with Roddy in the ring.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler discussed the two known Judgement Day matches, with HHH and Orton for the WWE title in a steel cage, and JBL taking on John Cena. JBL was shown backstage standing at his white limo. JBL said for the first time in history fans will now get to see what it's like to ride in his limo complete with full bar and high speed internet. JBL got into the back seat and delivered a message to John Cena about Judgement Day, as the limo made its way out to the ramp. JBL continued talking on the mic as he got the ring and said he wished it was Cena in the ring, but instead he'll beat up a Canadian. JBL told DH his daddy, Davey Boy, Bret Hart and God can't help him now.

DH Smith vs. JBL

JBL immediately kicked DH in the gut and began to assault him. JBL used a ferocious attack to send Cena a message. JBL beat up DH on the mat, delivered two huge clotheslines and several elbow drops before using the Clothesline from Hell.

After the bell, JBL stood up DH and put him in the corner, then started to punch and kick away at him. JBL continued to pummel Smith in the corner with punches. Four referees got involved to help restrain JBL from a further attack.

Winner: JBL wins via pinfall over DH Smith.

Backstage, William Regal was in the locker room to talk to the ECW roster. Armando Estrada was present as Regal told the ECW wrestlers to put their differences aside for tonight and teach Kennedy & HHH a lesson in the ring. Regal told them he fully expects a victory and won't turn the power off on the match.

Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross looked at the Smackdown Rebound which covered Undertaker's title match against Khali last Friday. GM Vickie Guerrero came to the ramp with Edge and told Undertaker that his choke hold is illegal and he's been hurting too many wrestlers. Vickie said in order to protect other wrestlers, Taker's hold is banned and his title is stripped. Taker refused to bring the title to her, so she sent Khali down and get the title. Undertaker proceeded to kick Khali down, then applied the Triangle Choke. As he was distracted, Ryder & Hawkins snuck into the ring and grabbed Taker's title, then ran it up to Vickie and Edge.

Mr. Kennedy & Triple H vs. The ECW Roster
14 on 2 Handicap match

A match arranged by ECW GM Armando Estrada and Raw GM William Regal to promote ECW's 100th Episode tomorrow night. Nunzio, The Miz, John Morrison, Bam Neely, Chavo, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Striker, Kofi Kingston, Mike Knox, Tommy Dreamer, Stevie Richards, Elijah Burke and ECW champion Kane all arrived to the ring. Kane came down last and stood in the ring facing Chavo and Neely, then his pyro erupted from the ring corners as Raw hit commercial.

Kennedy started off with Burke, eventually able to clothesline Burke down. Triple H soon tagged in as did Matt Striker, who wound up on the receiving end of Triple H punches. Kennedy tagged back in and eventually Mike Knox got in to get the better of him. Chavo entered next to continue the assault, followed by Kofi Kingston. Tommy Dreamer came in to suplex Kennedy then elbow drop on him, but couldn't take a 3 count. The ECW roster did a good job of keeping Kennedy away from HHH. Shelton made a blind tag on Kofi's back, then ended up being hit in the face as Kennedy ducked Kofi's flying move.

Shelton tossed Kofi out of the ring then went at Kennedy. Kennedy managed to counter and slam Shelton back, but in came Nunzio with the tag. Kennedy finally escaped from Nunzio and crawled towards HHH. Chavo Guerrero tagged Nunzio then ran over to try to punch HHH. Eventually HHH got in the ring and a bunch of ECW wrestlers went at him. Kane got into it and delivered a high chokeslam on Kennedy. Chavo climbed the ropes to Frogsplash. Kane grabbed Chavo around his neck, and Bam Neely came over the knock Kane out of the ring.

Chavo jumped off the corner ropes as the legal man to Frogsplash Kennedy and take the pinfall. After the bell, Triple H went wild and started to beat up charging ECW members. The Miz and Tommy Dreamer tried to hold HHH while Mike Knox brought a chair into the ring. Triple H fought out of the hold and grabbed the chair then started bashing several ECW stars over the head. All of a sudden with HHH in the middle of the ring, the lights went out on the arena. When the lights came back, Randy Orton was in the ring and delivered a quick RKO to drop HHH. Orton stood menacingly over HHH as Raw ended.

Winner: The ECW Roster wins via pinfall over Triple H & Mr. Kennedy.

Triple H became a 12 time champion at Backlash as he defeated Randy Orton to win the WWE title. Now that The Game has the prized belt around his waist, what will he have to say to the rest of the Raw roster? Will Randy Orton be calling for his rematch on Raw? Or will John Cena and JBL have something to say about it?

At Backlash, Raw superstar Shawn Michaels also pulled off a huge win, delivering Sweet Chin Music to Batista. Big Show also scored the win on Great Khali, and Beth Phoenix won the 12 diva tag match for her team. What will these superstars have planned as they appear on this episode of Raw?

Tonight's Raw will also mark the crowning of another king. William Regal, who won last week's King of the Ring tournament on Raw. Regal will have his official coronation ceremony. What will Regal have planned for his reign as WWE's King?

We will also see the return of superstar Mr. Kennedy on tonight's Raw. Kennedy has been missing since the Money in the Bank Ladder match at Wrestlemania 24. Now that Kennedy has healed from the MITB match what will he have in store for Raw?

5 Money in the Bank Possibilities

The Money in the Bank Ladder Match gives us the potential for a first in Wrestlemania/MITB history. Someone wins the MITB briefcase then cashes it in right at Wrestlemania 24 to take away a title. Here's 5 possibilities to consider for the winner of Money in the Bank and cashing in at Mania.

1) CM Punk wins, Edge stops Taker's streak, Punk cashes in against Edge to win World Heavyweight - Many fans and wrestling analysts feel Punk needs to move off ECW and onto Raw or Smackdown. We saw him get screwed over by Edge to lose the ECW title, so why not have Punk cash in and screw Edge over. On the flipside, we could see Punk cash in against Undertaker, making Punk a new heel on Smackdown.

2) Jericho or MVP win to cash in immediately for the other's title - Since they're competitors in MITB match, they'd have the advantage to immediately cash in and bash the other guy with the briefcase. Either man could be worn down, allowing the other to take their title. So either Y2J or MVP would wear both the IC and US titles as of Mania, maybe keeping their feud going. MVP makes more sense here as it would give him even more to brag about as a wrestler in his young and infamous career.

3) CM Punk cashes in for the ECW title shot - Either against Chavo before or after he faces the Battle Royal winner. We may also see Tommy Dreamer defeat Chavo, then Punk go on to cash in to face Dreamer at Mania or ECW later. Dreamer and Punk really are symbolic of ECW and having them fight over the title at Mania would be a great thing too. If it became a Triple threat match, fans may be bored of having two at WM24.

4) Mr. Kennedy wins to make it back to back then cashes in for WWE or World Heavyweight title at Mania. This may happen but I still feel Kennedy's stock is down and an ECW will be the winner of MITB. It could be revealed that Mr. Kennedy is Vince McMahon's real son in another twist but that story may be over as of the Belfast Brawl and Mania.

5) Shelton Benjamin wins MITB then cashes in against ECW title holder - Possibly Tommy Dreamer or Elijah Burke win the 24 Man Battle Royal. They go on to defeat Chavo and have win the ECW title. Shelton comes rushing down with briefcase in hand, then knocks out the ECW champ, takes the pin & ECW title, proving he is the "Gold Standard".

You'll notice the above speculations exclude two wrestlers: Carlito & Morrison who I just can't see winning this match at Wrestlemania, but as we all know with WWE, anything is possible.

Money in the Bank 2008

After Wrestlemania 24, Floyd Mayweather will have big money in his bank, adding up to the sum of $20 million. Meanwhile, seven superstars will compete with different money up for grabs: the Money in the Bank briefcase. Superstars from Raw, ECW & Smackdown will go head to head in the MITB ladder match. The object is to be the first wrestler to climb a ladder in the center of the ring and retrieve the briefcase hanging above. Inside the briefcase is a very special contract which gives the winner a "Anytime, Anyplace, Any title" shot. The winner can cash it in whenever and have a shot to become a new title holder.

In the match we have Raw superstars, Carlito, Chris Jericho and Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy! For Smackdown it will be just MVP. ECW offers CM Punk, John Morrison and Shelton Benjamin. The way it looks, there's 3 men who have the best chance of winning the match: Punk, Benjamin or Mr. Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy may take the prize as the back to back winner. As many remember he won the MITB at WM23, but was robbed of his briefcase last year due to an injury and an optimistic Edge. Edge went on to take the contract and cash it in to become World Heavyweight champ, after beating and already beaten Undertaker. Clearly a Mr. Kennedy repeat win is not out of the question here. Kennedy even told Randy Orton on Raw that he would cash in the briefcase at WM24 for the WWE title shot.

Punk or Benjamin from ECW may really have the best chance of taking it to set up a scenario. One of the men could win the suitcase with the other winning that 24 Man Battle Royal for a ECW title shot. It's very possible that we see the ECW title change hands twice if Punk and Benjamin wind up winning those two matches. For example, Punk wins the Battle Royal and defeats Chavo for the ECW title. Benjamin wins MITB and immediately cashes it in to defeat Punk, becoming ECW champ.

It's hard to see WWE Superstars Jericho or MVP taking this match. Both men are title holders already. While it's not too far fetched it just makes less sense for either to win and pursue another title. John Morrison, also a title holder, would have to be the dark horse, as he's moved out of the ECW title picture and is no longer on Raw or Smackdown.

Raw Opens the Door for WWE Title Change

Last night's Raw definitely gave us all room to wonder about the WWE title picture. What we know as a fact is that it will be a John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Randy Orton match at the start. Most fans are comfortable predicting a John Cena or Triple H title win. Triple H seems to make sense after all he's been through. John Cena is the flagship star and highly popular with many fans of the WWE. However, Mr. Kennedy and JBL have now thrown a monkey wrench into the title picture, or given us some more room to speculate.

Kennedy approached Randy Orton backstage and tossed out the possibility that if he wins Money in the Bank, he will be cashing it in at WM24. So it's entirely possible we see Triple H or Cena winning the belt, only for Kennedy to come to the ring out of nowhere, smash a briefcase across their back, and collect the title. It's happened before by Edge several times, so don't rule it out at the big event.

We also got the news many had been speculating for some time; that Hornswoggle isn't truly Vince McMahon's son. This means that Vince and the fans have been put through the skits week in and week out at the hands of some prankster. Was it Finlay? JBL? One of the other McMahons? Triple H? Someone's behind it all, and possibly that is unveiled to us come Wrestlemania 24. It may even play into the title picture. Imagine if indeed Triple H or Mr. Kennedy are Vince's son, how that will make the event even more dramatic or full of surprise.

Many fans had predicted a Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair WM24 match up, which we now know is going down at the big event. What we can speculate on now is, will HBK be the man to defeat Flair? It would be a "passing of the torch" move, but HBK hasn't won nearly as many title as Flair. It still makes more sense for Flair to win and gracefully retire, rather than go out in defeat.

Returning star DH Smith looked to be in the WWE doghouse last night. It was almost as if WWE was sending a quiet yet violent message that those suspended for Wellness policy violations are going to be publicly humiliated. Smith received a complete beatdown and a very quick loss in a match to Umaga. Message sent.

We also got a glimpse of WWE Diva Maria Kanellis, decked out in her Playboy logo black skirt, plus a behind the scenes look at her Playboy photo shoot. Maria even says she designed part of her "wardrobe" for the photos, leaving fans to wonder if the article of clothing is a hat, scarf or belt.

WWE Diva Maria's Playboy issue will hit newstands on March 7, 2008, and Wrestlemania will hit March 30th, 2008 on Pay Per View, live from the Citrus Bowl.

Raw Recap 02.18.08

Raw recap from Anaheim, CA:

Raw opened with the arrival of last night's Elimination Chamber winner, Triple H. HHH posed on the corner of the ring with the Wrestlemania 24 banner hanging in the distance. HHH spoked of his disappointment at last year's Wrestlemania where he was injured and could only watch the matches. HHH said now that he is going to WM24, "the Game is back!" and back in the main event. Randy Orton came out to interrupt and entered the ring with a mic.

Orton spoke about how he and HHH have now come full circle. Orton talked about beating everyone, first HHH, then Jericho, then Hardy, then Cena. Cena came out to interrupt and make his claim to the fact he should be given a title shot after Orton's intentional DQ last night. Orton asked HHH if he was going to allow Cena to get involved and HHH said he doesn't care who is champ at WM24. Raw GM William Regal came out to stop the 3 men from arguing and said they would settle it fairly. Tonight there will be a non-title rematch with Cena facing Orton. If Cena wins, he is put into the main event at Wrestlemania, making it a Triple Threat for the WWE title. Regal then made HHH the special guest referee for tonight's main event.

Footage shown of Floyd Mayweather punching a taunting Big Show in the face during the No Way Out Pay Per View. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler also mentioned the steel cage match for later between Vince McMahon and Hornswoggle.

Snitsky vs. Jeff Hardy
Money in the Bank Qualifying match

Jeff Hardy came out to a brand new theme song. The winner of this match would get to participate in the traditional Money in the Bank ladder match at WM24. In the earlier part of the match, Jeff gained momentum and went to the corner ropes. Snitsky got up quick, shoved Hardy then gave him a boot to the face to knock Jeff outside the ring as Raw took a break.

Snitsky held Jeff in a bear hug as Raw returned, but Jeff escaped it. Snitsky continued to dominate after knocking Jeff down when he came off the ropes. Jeff began to regain momentum after Snitsky missed a leg drop, but soon again Snitsky used a big boot to Jeff's face to knock him down. Jeff was able to escape off Snitsky's shoulder before a slam, then scored the Twist of Fate and a Swanton Bomb. After the win, Jeff went over behind the announce table to slap hands with members of rock group Endeavor.

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall over Snitsky and qualifies for Wrestlemania 24's Money in the Bank Ladder match.

Jerry Lawler informed fans they can vote by texting Yes or No to 44993 to vote on whether or not Maria should pose for Playboy magazine. Standard cell phone text message charges will apply.

Rey Mysterio shown backstage hanging out with boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Highlights shown from last night's No Way Out, where Big Show returned and boxer Floyd Mayweather "shocked the world". Also shown was footage from the Elimination Chamber matches with Triple H and Undertaker victorious.

Reporter Mike Adamle introduced Shawn Michaels with a special WWE Hall of Fame announcement. Michaels came to the ring to present the first inductee into the 2008 Hall of Fame class, Ric Flair. A highlight package was shown of Flair with soundbytes and match footage. The Hall of Fame 2008 ceremony will be the day before Wrestlemania 24, March 29th. HBK had the crowd join him in a "Wooooo!" to celebrate the announcement.

Jim Ross announced that this Saturday night on WWE.com there will be a special presentation of the Slammy Awards best moments.

Super Crazy vs. Paul Burchhill

Burchhill came to the ring with his sister Katie Lee. Prior to the match a backstage interview was shown with Burchhill acknowledging that alot of male fans have been looking at his sister.

Burchhill did an impresive kick to the face move when Super Crazy jumped off the corner ropes. Katie Lee watched from outside the ring and seemed to enjoy it when her brother beat up Super Crazy. To finish off Super Crazy, Burchhill pulled both his arms behind his back then drove his foot into Crazy's back, stomping him face first into the mat. Burchhill is now 2-0 since his WWE Debut on Raw.

Winner: Paul Burchhill wins via pinfall over Super Crazy.

Backstage Big Show was seen conversing with Shane McMahon.

Triple H shown sitting in a locker room talking on a cell phone saying "it doesn't really matter". Randy Orton came into the locker room to tell Triple H he doesn't want a repeat of Wrestlemania from 2 years ago, where Cena made him tap out. Triple H told Orton he taught him how to play mind games so it isn't worth trying on him. Triple H said he will call it how he sees it.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler discussed the World Heavyweight title match, with Rey Mysterio losing to Edge. Footage shown again of Floyd Mayweather's punches to Big Show's face from last night's Pay Per View.

Big Show came down to the ring and asked for Floyd Mayweather to come down to the ring so he could make a formal apology. Floyd came out with his entourage to the song "I Get Money" by 50 Cent. Mayweather talked about being a fan of WWE for many years. Mayweather told Big Show he's the best fighter in the world and since he got called out, he had to retaliate last night. Big Show made a man to man, face to face apology to Mayweather and extended his hand. Mayweather looked around then shook hands with Show.

Mayweather exited the ring and started up the ramp with his group. Big Show stopped them and began telling Floyd the only way he got him was when he was down on his knees. Show said he could take him out in 2 minutes if he wanted. Show called out Mayweather again saying since he's 39-0 and wants publicity he needs to come take on the Big Show. Mayweather turned and charged down to the ring with his posse. Mayweather took off his hoodie then told Show on the mic "I accept!" Mayweather made a fake punch move at Big Show causing him to flinch.

Promo shown for Wrestlemania XXIV which is just 41 days away. Highlights shown from past Money in the Bank ladder matches.

Val Venis vs. Mr. Kennedy
Money in the Bank Qualifiying Match

Mr. Kennedy came down to new theme music to face an unlikely winner, Val Venis. Kennedy took control of Venis from the start after tossing him shoulder first to the corner ringpost and then working on the injured arm. Venis only had a brief burst of momentum before Mr. Kennedy grabbed him around the neck and then fell back with him causing Venis to hit the mat face first. After the win, Kennedy pointed to the Wrestlemania banner hanging from the ceiling of the arena.

Winner: Mr. Kennedy wins via pinfall over Val Venis to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match at WM24.

Jim Ross reminded fans of tonight's main event between Cena and Orton with HHH as special guest ref. Just then, the steel cage hanging above the ring began to lower down for the upcoming Hornswoggle vs. Vince match.

WWE Rewind showed last week's No DQ match between Vince and Hornswoggle. Vince took off his belt to beat Hornswoggle, but Finlay came down to intervene. After Finlay clocked Vince with a shilaleigh, Hornswoggle scored the Tadpole Frogsplash off the corner ropes onto Vince to pickup the win.

Hornswoggle vs. Vince McMahon
Steel Cage Match

Finlay accompanied his leprechaun pal to the ring for the match. Finlay got into the ring and began asking Vince what he was trying to prove. Vince and a WWE ref forced Finlay out of the cage so the match could start. As Finlay continued to yell at Vince near the cage door, Vince slapped Finlay in the face. Just then, JBL came from out of nowhere and slammed the cage door on Finlay. JBL got into the ring and beat up Finlay, before cuffing him to the side ropes for more punishment. Finlay could only watch as Vince McMahon removed his belt and whipped Hornswoggle from behind.

Vince hit Horney with the belt several times while Finlay screamed at him to stop. Vince then exited the ring and JBL grabbed Hornswoggle. With Finlay watching, JBL choked Hornswoggle then tossed him into the side of the cage. JBL continued the beatdown of Hornswoggle, then went over and kicked the restrained Finlay in the head. JBL did a backwards slam tossing Hornswoggle into the cage wall. Vince asked for medical help to come down and attend to his son while Finlay continued to scream that both Vince and JBL will pay for this.

Winner: No winner announced, but Vince McMahon exited the cage door first.

JR and Jerry Lawler reviewed the previous footage.

94% of the fans voted that Yes Maria should pose for Playboy. Santino and Maria arrived to the ring so Santino could speak on the microphone. Santino said he would give the fans what they want, Maria posing for Playboy. Santino showed everyone a clipboard with the Playboy contract. Marella then said Maria will compete against the Glamazon Beth Phoenix. Marella told Maria not to worry, he'd be in her corner.

Maria vs. Beth Phoenix

Before the match could start, Santino got on the mic and said he just noticed fine print in the Playboy contract. Marella said Maria can only pose for Playboy if she defeats Beth here.

Beth took control early on as she beat Maria around the ring. Beth kicked Maria in the midsection several times then slapped her around near the ropes before doing a sideslam. Santino watched from ringside continuing to talk. Beth did an impressive slam move on Maria then went for a pin, but Maria kicked out. Maria tried to fight back valiantly. Just then, Candice Michelle made a surprise appearance walking down the ramp. Beth Phoenix became distracted enough for Maria to roll her up for a pinfall. Maria wins the match and will get to pose for Playboy.

Winner: Maria wins via pinfall over Beth Phoenix.

Triple H shown backstage donning his special guest referee attire.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Non Title Match

Orton took control early using forearm shots and punches to Cena's head. Cena began battling back but was dropkicked down. Cena went onto the apron and Orton charged at him causing Cena to fly off into the announce table. Cena hit head first on the table and was down as Raw hit commercial break.

Raw returned with Orton beating on Cena in the corner of the ring. Orton whipped Cena to the other corner then got Cena's boot to his face. Cena gained momentum and did an elbow drop on Orton off the ropes. Orton escaped to the outside at one point and Cena went out after him. Cena grabbed Orton then slammed him face first to the announcer's table. Back in the ring, Orton managed to regain control and went for a pin on Cena. HHH counted just two as Cena kicked out.

Orton began stomping on Cena's body parts just like he did during last night's PPV match. Orton used a headlock to try to wear Cena down, but Cena stood up then slammed Orton back. Cena finally gained the upperhand and hit the 5 Knuckle Shuffle, but Orton was able to grab the ropes when Cena tried for a F-U. Cena knocked Orton out of the ring, then the two fought outside. Cena was whipped to the steel steps. JR noted that Triple H was letting the two men have at it. Orton tossed Cena back in the ring then slithered under the ropes ready for the RKO.

Orton went for the RKO as Cena stood up. Cena shoved Orton to the ropes then came back at him to trip him to the mat. Cena slapped on the STFU and held it in, but Orton was able to crawl over and grab the bottom rope. Triple H forced Cena to break the hold. Cena got up and into HHH's face and the two started to argue. Orton got up and came at Cena, but Cena turned, picked him up, then hit the F-U. Triple H counted 1-2-3 and declared Cena the winner. As Cena was about to celebrate, HHH grabbed him and hit the Pedigree. Triple H asked for the WWE title and took a look at it, then waited for Orton to stand. HHH hit the Pedigree on Orton to finish off Raw.

Winner: John Cena wins via pinfall over Randy Orton and will go on to Wrestlemania 24 to be in the WWE title main event match.

No Way Out of 2 Chambers

It was surprising to hear the news from Teddy Long that WWE will now use 2 elimination chamber matches at No Way Out. Smackdown needs to find a #1 contender for the World Heavyweight title at Wrestlemania 24, so they will use the same type of match as Raw. It's unprecedented and you'd have to wonder if the novelty will cause fans watching the PPV to stay interested in both matches. The thinking may be if the chamber's already there, why not use it? A ladder match just wouldn't work with Khali and Mark Henry.

The early favorites for the Smackdown chamber are Undertaker and Batista. It's tough to see MVP, Khali, Finlay or Mark Henry winning it. It still will be very interesting to see how some of the guys get eliminated though. Henry and Khali have had pushes as immovable forces who are tough to beat, while MVP is a title holder and continues to carry the US belt. The speculation around WWE blogs and websites continues to be that we will see Undertaker facing Edge at Wrestlemania. This puts Edge's title on the line against Taker's undefeated streak. And as we all know, Undertaker does not lose at Wrestlemania. In the meantime, Edge will defend the World Heavyweight title again versus Rey Mysterio at No Way Out.

We have a fifth match set for No Way Out, with Ric Flair going up against Mr. Kennedy in another "Career Threatening match". Kennedy wants to end Flair's career, which continues despite Flair getting beat up by MVP. This gives Flair a little bit of time to rest with the knee injury before having to make a triumphant arrival to the ring to face Kennedy. Again there's speculation that Flair will go out at Wrestlemania which is the biggest stage there is. The problem many have is "who is going to be known as the guy that ends Flair's career?" While that would be a tough title to have, my belief is Flair may just retire on his own, saying he's now shown he can beat all of the best the WWE has to offer.
