Smackdown Recap 01.22.10

Smackdown recap from :

Todd Grisham welcomed fans in to the show just 9 days ahead of the 2010 Royal Rumble. On tonight's show, by order of Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero, John Morrison will be in a 2-on-1 handicap match against Drew McIntyre and Chris Jericho. The Animal Batista arrived out to a large amount of boos and thumbs down as he came out to start off the show. A spotlight went down on Batista as he walked down the ramp.

Finlay vs. Batista

Early on, Batista did a flex pose and Finlay responded with a punch to the face. Batista battled back, but Finlay kept going and took him down with a move from off the corner. He hit a Celtic Cross roll slam early for a near fall, followed by a sit splash. The two wrestlers ended up outside the ring where Batista began to gouge Finlay in the eyes. The ref came out and told Batista to break the hold. Batista didn't so the ref immediately yelled for them to ring the bell.

Batista tossed Finlay across the commentator's table, then around the outside, into the steel steps and crowd barrier. Batista continued his attack as he picked up Finlay and rammed his back into the ringpost several times. Another toss into the steel steps for Finlay, and then Batista put him back in the ring. He grabbed a mic from the outside then did a Spinebuster on Finlay in the ring. Batista got on the mic and told people "imagine that times 29, because that will happen at the Rumble". He began naming other Rumble competitors and kicked Finlay for each one. He told Undertaker he's going to win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania. He vowed to end Taker's win streak as well.

Winner: Finlay wins due to disqualification of Batista.

Later tonight, Rey Mysterio calls out World Heavyweight champ, The Undertaker.

Smackdown returned with footage of Rey Mysterio winning a previous Royal Rumble. He lasted 1 hour 2 minutes and 15 seconds to set a record, when he eliminated Randy Orton.

CM Punk and Luke Gallows arrived out next to save a member of the WWE Universe by inducting them into the Straightedge Society. Punk & Gallows are #1 Contenders for the Unified Tag titles. They showed highlights from last week of a Fatal Fourway tag match, where Gallows hit the Twelfth Step on JTG to win the match.

Punk & Gallows remained at the top of the ramp. Punk got on the mic to say the reason they are #1 contenders now and will bring honor back to the Unified tag titles is because they are Straightedge. Punk said that's also what will propel him to win the 2010 Royal Rumble, the first ever Straightedge winner. Punk called the audience a bunch of losers and began walking down the ramp looking right at audience members. He said he can see them rotting before his eyes, with parents smoking and drinking in front of their children to transform the next generation. Punk said he knows that he can save each and every last one of them. Punk asked who will be the brave fortunate one tonight who wants to be saved, as he walked around the ring.

A crazed woman came running from out of the audience and nearly tackled Punk down, screaming she needs him. Gallows restrained her and yelled for security to come do their job. A security guy came over and escorted the woman kicking and screaming up the ramp, and another lady in a suit came out to take her. Punk got on the mic and told them to stop, because that woman needs him. He sent Luke to get her to the ring.

Punk said he can see a lifetime of pain and suffering in the woman's eyes. She said her name was Serina. Punk asked Serina if she's an addict, and she answered that she is and really wants to change. He compared her to the rest of audience saying they all wait in line or at work watching the clock until they get their next pill or drink. Punk said he cares about her unlike the WWE Universe who are all enablers with no self-respect. They sat Serina in a chair in the ring, had her raise her hand up to pledge to Straightedge. She accepted it into her life, then Gallows brought out the clippers and soon after Punk shaved her long hair off. Afterwords, they all raised their arms together for Straightedge.

Drew McIntyre and Chris Jericho arrived out for their upcoming handicap match. Next to arrive was their opponent, John Morrison, who got in the ring to stare down McIntyre from a few feet away as Jericho smirked. Before the match began, GM Teddy Long arrived out to the ramp. Teddy said not to ring the bell just yet. He said Vickie didn't consult with him before making this handicap match, so he's making it a tag team matchup now, with R-Truth as John Morrison's partner. Truth came out to do a high-octane intro performance of "What's Up?" involving the crowd in the chorus.

John Morrison & R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho

They announced that next week Morrison takes on Drew McIntyre in a NO DQ title match. After the heels dominated Morrison for a bit, he managed to grab Jericho for a backbreaker and Russian legsweep. Both men were down, and Morrison rolled towards Truth. Jericho crawled to McIntyre who ran in and stepped on Morrison's back to knock Truth off the apron. After a commercial, McIntyre was still in control with an arm hold on Morrison on the mat. Morrison began to battle back and did an armbar toss on McIntyre, but Drew came back with a spinning backbreaker move. Jericho came back in again for more punishment on JMo.

During one bit, Jericho distracted the ref as McIntyre ran on the apron to kick Morrison's face. Morrison managed to fight with Jericho on the top ropes, shoving Jericho down and then hitting a flying cross body. Morrison had a near fall, then tried to stretch for a tag. Jericho grabbed his leg to stop it. Morrison countered a Walls of Jericho and tried to crawl for a tag, but once again McIntyre tagged in to stop the attempt. He continued to wear down Morrison.

Morrison finally was able to counter an attempted move by McIntyre, turning it into a DDT from the air. And Morrison finally made the hot tag to R-Truth, who came in on fire versus Jericho. Truth hit a variety of moves, including a handspring after avoiding Jericho in the corner. He had the pin but McIntyre broke it up, so Morrison rushed in to knock Drew outside. Jericho grabbed Morrison and threw him out. Truth grabbed Jericho for a near roll up pin. Jericho kicked out then kicked Truth in the head. Just as he went for a pinfall, Morrison rolled Drew back in the ring and the ref was distracted. Morrison hit a kick on Jericho near the corner, allowing Truth to come back and hit his scissors kick to the head for the pin.

Winners: John Morrison & R-Truth win via pinfall over Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho.

They rolled out footage of Wrestlemania 22, where Rey Mysterio won the World Heavyweight Title for the first time in his career. Rey won by defeating Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat match.

Layla and Michelle McCool were in the ring next for a divas segment. The ring was set up with pink balloons and a table full of food and red punch in a bowl. Michelle McCool said they had a match scheduled for the Womens title but it was cancelled. Michelle said she has good news though: Piggy James is leaving Smackdown for good. Michelle said they're throwing her a going away party, and showed all the food on the table off, including a few cakes that were designed with pink pigs on them. Finally, Maria came out to interrupt their skit.

Maria called the two heel divas annoying and said things will end right now. Maria said they only seem good at torturing Mickie, but that ends tonight. Maria says they should be leaving Smackdown not Mickie. Mickie said she doesn't care if they walk out hand in hand, or they're carried out. Michelle called Maria underfed, and told her she should be out getting Donald Trump a coffee. Maria got in their faces, which brought Mickie James out next with a mic.

Mickie said she's dealt with girls like Layla and Michelle all her life. Mickie said deep down inside they know they're nothing but try to put others down. Mickie said she pities them, then said she is what a real woman looks like. Mickie said the women in the audience are what real women are, skinny, fat, curvy, gorgeous and sexy. Mickie said she's how God intended her to be, and proud of it so their teasing won't chase her away. Mickie said the only people who will ever tell her if she needs to go are the WWE Universe. Michelle said with Mickie in the ring the fans get to see WWE and Animal Planet. Mickie said she will be at the Royal Rumble. Mickie said it's about time she embarrassed them now and taught them manners.

Layla started squawking at Mickie so she got punched first. All four divas got into it, with Maria battling Layla, and Mickie battling Michelle in separate corners. Beth Phoenix ran to the ring looking confused over what to do. She grabbed Maria and tossed her into the ringpost, then ran over to attack Mickie. Michelle and Layla joined in o nthe attack making it 3 on 1. Beth held Mickie so Michelle could further humiliate her, saying it was "feeding time for Piggy James". She picked up a pig off one of the cakes as Layla and Beth held Mickie. Michelle smashed the cake in Mickie's face, then said she needs to wash it down. Michelle picked up the bowl of punch and dumped it on Mickie's head. Layla and Michelle admired their work as they posed for the crowd with Mickie looking devastated in tears.

Cryme Tyme vs. Mike Knox & Charlie Haas

Not even a minute into the tag match, the Big Red Monster, Kane came down to the ring. JTG rushed towards him and got thrown out over the ropes. He threw out Haas next. Knox went after Kane, and Shad came over to help. Kane grabbed both by the throat and shoved them over the top rope as well. Kane raised his arms up and dropped them down to release his explosive pyro from the ring corners. Striker said Kane has to be considered a favorite in the 2010 Royal Rumble.

Winners: No contest as match was interrupted by Kane's interference.

Highlights were show from last Friday's steel cage match between Rey Mysterio and Batista. Batista punished Mysterio around the steel structure throughout, but in the end Mysterio was able to scale the wall and started his descent. Batista went for the cage door exit, with Mysterio kicking it into Batista's head. Mysterio won the match to become #1 Contender for Undertaker's title at the Royal Rumble.

Striker and Grisham said next up Rey Mysterio will call out The Undertaker.

When Smackdown returned they discussed the 2010 Royal Rumble which will feature Randy Orton taking on Sheamus for the WWE Title, Rey Mysterio challenging Undertaker for the World Heavyweight title, and the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match. The winner gets to move on to Wrestlemania 26 for a title shot.

Matt Hardy & The Great Khali vs. The Hart Dynasty

Striker asked how anyone can expect to throw Khali over the top rope. Hardy and Khali danced in the ring right before their opponents were introduced.

Early on The Hart Dynasty ran a doubleteam on Matt Hardy in and outside the ring. DH Smith hit a standing suplex on Hardy then locked in a submission hold chin lock with Hardy's arm raised. During the match, Kidd instructed Natalya to sneak around the ring over to Great Khali. Khali jumped down off the apron as Natalya began to make advances towards him. Natalya began to lead Khali up the ramp by the hand. Meanwhile in the ring, Matt shoved DH Smith against the ropes to knock Kidd off the apron, then rolled up DH Smith for a quick pinfall win. Hardy, Khali and Singh celebrated on the ramp.

Winners: Matt Hardy & Great Khali win via pinfall over The Hart Dynasty.

Rey Mysterio was shown backstage headed out for the ring to call out Undertaker next.

Rey Mysterio made his entrance down to the ring to call out The Undertaker. He slapped hands with fans along the way, stopping to talk to some with Mysterio masks on. He addressed the people asking why he would be crazy or stupid enough to call out Undertaker. Mysterio said four years ago he won the World title and it was a dream come true. He said the only thing standing between him and reliving that dream is a nightmare: The Undertaker. Mysterio said he wants to look Taker in the eyes to tell him he's not afraid.

Rey called out Undertaker and paused. The Undertaker's bells sounded and the arena went dark as flames erupted near the ramp. Undertaker made his way down the ramp to get in the ring with Mysterio. Mysterio brought up how last time they fought, Mysterio had him on the ropes for the title and there was no fear. Mysterio said this time there will be no Batista or Shawn Michaels. He said he's conquered his nightmares because of his dreams, and will concquer his nightmare of the Undertaker to become World champ once again. Rey promised to defeat Undertaker at the Royal Rumble.

Undertaker said Rey has bold words for a little man, and he seems to have concquered everything in his life, but nobody triumphs over the grave. Undertaker said he admires Rey's gall, but he's digging his own grave in the process. Undertaker said at the Royal Rumble, Rey will suffer the same fate that everyone else has suffered trying to make a name at Taker's expense. Undertaker promised at the Rumble that Rey will "Rest in Peace". He stared right down at Rey and the lights dimmed for Taker's music again as the Deadman exited.

As Undertaker was walking up the ramp, Rey called to him again. Finally, Undertaker stopped and turned around. Rey said he is not like the rest. Just then, The Animal Batista ran into the ring and attacked Mysterio from behind. He hoisted Mysterio up and hit the Batista Bomb. Undertaker started to head back towards the ring staring at Batista. Batista exited the ring and hopped over the crowd barrier to get away. Smackdown ended with Taker's music playing as he walked up the ramp, with Rey down in the ring holding his head. Taker turned to look back before raising one fist in the air as his flames exploded.

Former ECW Champion Matt Hardy and current Raw superstar Evan Bourne both make their way back to the Land of Extreme.

From the Izod Center,Josh Matthews welcomed fans to the show right after the pyro went off, stating that tonight more superstars will attempt to qualify for ECW Homecoming. Savannah was in the ring to introduce the ECW Champion, Christian. Christian came down to take a seat with the commentary team and told Byron Saxton how great it was to tell his family he's met Bryan Gumbel. Matt Hardy came out for the opening match.

Matt Hardy vs. Finlay
ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match

Josh Matthews reminded fans that eight men will qualify for ECW Homecoming Finale in 2 weeks. Four have already qualified: Kane, Vance Archer, Yoshi Tatsu and Ezekiel Jackson.

Finlay took advantage of Matt Hardy tweaking a leg or knee injury, and continued to target it. The ref nearly stopped the match due to the injury in the early going. Finlay slammed Hardy hard against the ropes, legs first to exploit the injury then used submission holds on the mat. Matt got to his feet and started punching away at Finlay, but eventually the Irishmen kicked him in the hurt leg to knock him back down.

In the late stages of the match, Matt went for a moonsault off the corner, but Finlay moved out of the way. Finlay had a near fall after Matt hurt his left knee yet again. He stood Hardy up for a move, but Matt did his Twist of Fate finisher out of nowhere to win it.

Christian said he's ready for whomever might make the final match to face him at Royal Rumble. Five spots are know decided.

Winner: Matt Hardy wins via pinfall over Finlay to advance to the ECW Homecoming Finale.

Later tonight, two former ECW stars, Evan Bourne and Mike Knox compete for the sixth ECW Homecoming spot.

Zack Ryder was walking backstage with his arm around Rosa Mendes laughing. Ryder spotted Tommmy Dreamer hanging out, and asked him why he's still at ECW. Ryder suggested that Dreamer should just hang it up already. Dreamer told Ryder he's sick of losing to guys like Ryder each and every week. Dreamer grabbed Ryder by the collar and told him if he wants him out of ECW so bad, he can try to beat him tonight. Dreamer said if Ryder beats him, he'll leave ECW forever. Ryder said it's on.

Ezekiel Jackson made his way down to the ring. They showed highlights from his match 2 weeks ago in the ECW Homecoming against Vladimir Kozlov. William Regal was ringside and tripped Kozlov, allowing Jackson to win by pinfall. After the match, Jackson and Regal attacked Kozlov outside the ring.

Jackson spoke in the ring about how Vladimir Kozlov betrayed Jackson and Regal by being a weak link in their powerful chain. Jackson said their goal was to dominate ECW, but Vlad became a liability. As Ezekiel quoted the book of Ezekiel and continued to speak, Vlad's music hit and he came to the ring. The two behemoths began to battle. Vladimir sustained some strikes then knocked Jackson over the top rope. Kozlov dared Jackson to get back in there with him. Jackson chuckled from the ramp telling Kozlov "you're gonna get it!"

Tommy Dreamer was in a lockerroom backstage getting ready. Christian came in to ask what was up. Christian asked Dreamer if he's sure that he really wants to fight in the match tonight against Ryder. Dreamer said he's got something to prove again, just like Christian did in returning to win the ECW title. Christian said no matter what happens tonight, Dreamer will be the heart of ECW. Dreamer said he still wants a rematch against Christian for the ECW title. Dreamer brushed back some tears as Christian left.

Evan Bourne vs. Mike Knox
ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match

The commentators noted that Knox studies Kinesiology which involves taking apart the human body and putting it back together.

Early on, Knox and Bourne spilled to the outside, Both guys were slow to get up as the ref counted them out. Knox threw Bourne into the crowd barricade hard, then got back in the ring. Bourne managed to just beat the count and get back in the ring, but Knox was in control and began to pick him apart.

Bourne was able to counter Knox on a standing suplex and began using his quick kicks. Bourne went against the ropes but Knox did his lateral press to take him down for a near fall. Bourne grabbed the bottom rope to break it. From there, Bourne got momentum as he avoided a splash by Knox, then kneed him in the face. Bourne went to the corner ropes for a high risk move with Knox getting up to trip him down. Bourne jumped but Knox caught him on the shoulder. Bourne used his weight to get over the top rope onto the apron. Bourne used a high kick to Knox' head to knock him to the mat, then climbed onto the corner ropes for the Shooting Starpress to win it.

Winner: Evan Bourne wins via pinfall over Mike Knox to advance to the ECW Homecoming Finale.

There's now just two spots left for ECW Homecoming. Byron Saxton said on next week's ECW three more former ECW champions return to compete for those spots: Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk.

ECW GM TIffany wished Tommy Dreamer good luck in his match tonight. Dreamer began making his way down the hall en route to the main vent match.

ECW returned with a look back at last night's Raw. The focus was the rematch between John Cena and Sheamus for the WWE Title. Sheamus told Cena the final image on Raw for 2009 will be Sheamus standing tall oabove Cena holding the title. Both men attacked one another during the program to try to gain an edge. In the main event, Cena seemed to be in control and had Sheamus up for the Attitude Adjustment, but Sheamus grabbed the top rope. Cena yanked Sheamus away, but as he did so, Sheamus grabbed the ref and pushed him down with a free arm. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment, but it was too late as the ref called for a DQ. Cena ran up the ramp and grabbed Sheamus to bring back to the ring. However, back in the ring, Sheamus dodged Cena's attack and kicked him in the face twice. Raw ended with Sheamus putting a foot on Cena's throat, before heading up the ramp to show off his WWE title.

Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton discussed Cena's "hustle, loyalty, respect" mantra, with Saxton saying Sheamus ended 2009 on quite a high note. Matthews reminded fans of the biggest news of the century: Bret "the Hitman" Hart will guest host the first Raw of 2010.

Backstage, Yoshi Tatshu was trying to teach Goldust how to say "you're welcome" in Japanese. Goldust kept getting it wrong, so Yoshi tried to teach him how to say something easier. The new ECW tag team Croft and Baretta came walking up and cockily asked how to say "future WWE tag team champions" in Japanese. They said they hoped Tommy Dreamer loses tonight and then Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu leave also. Goldust told them to back off then said something in Japanese. Yoshi laughed and said "good one" leaving Croft and Baretta wondering what they said. One of them said he knew Japanese and Goldust just said he's scared of them.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder was accompanied to the ring by girlfriend Rosa Mendes. Early on, both men used arm tosses to throw each other down to the mat. Dreamer tried to keep Ryder down in an armbar hold, but Ryder got up and tried to take Dreamer corner to corner. Instead, Dreamer got a bulldog out of the corner for a near fall. Dreamer hit a powerslam out of the other corner as Ryder tried to jump over him. He hit a flapjack style reverse slam, and Ryder rolled to the outside. Dreamer jumped out onto Ryder and Rosa came over to protect her man. She yelled at Dreamer and Ryder was able to get a punch in, before shoving Dreamer to the ringpost. ECW took a break as Ryder rolled Dreamer back into the ring.

Back from commercial, Ryder was in control using an arm hold to keep Dreamer down. Saxton and Matthews kept questioning if it was wise for Dreamer to offer to leave ECW forever if he lost. Ryder countered Dreamer's comeback attempt for a near fall, then started hammering away on his head. He continued the onslaught by tossing Dreamer shoulder first into the corner ringpost. Ryder went for a running kick move at Dreamer in the corner, allowing Dreamer to get back up and hit a neckbreaker. From there he did a Flapjack to slam Ryder face first, then a Powerbomb style move for a near fall.

Towards the closing moments of the match, Dreamer had Ryder hung upside down in the corner and did his running dropkick, followed by the finisher DDT. He scored the pinfall but the ref noted that Ryder had a foot under the bottom rope. Dreamer was shocked that he hadn't won it. The ref told him to continue the match. Dreamer yanked Ryder away from the ropes then tried for another fall. Ryder reversed for a pin of his own, but Dreamer kicked out. In the process, Dreamer landed on top of the ref who started to hold the back of his neck/head. Dreamer sat Ryder up on the corner, then climbed up with him. He went for a suplex, but Ryder turned it around from the air to do a lateral press on top of Dreamer for the winning pinfall. Dreamer sat up looking dejected over the loss which sends him out of ECW forever.

Winner: Zack Ryder wins via pinfall. Tommy Dreamer agrees to leave ECW forever.

Following the loss which would retire Dreamer from ECW/WWE, the ECW original got on the mic for a farewell speech. He recalled sitting in this very arena a long time ago to watch Piper's Pit by Roddy Piper. Dreamer thanked all of the members of the original ECW, saying it was his dream since age 9 to be a wrestler. He said if you have a passion for what you want to do, you can accomplish your dreams anywhere. Dreamer fought back tears saying he told himself not to cry.

Dreamer told the WWE Universe they have been like his family. He talked about his real family, and his daughters, as the camera showed a shot of his wife Beulah in the front row holding their daughters. Dreamer was in tears, and said life is about getting back up whenever you get knocked down. He thanked the fans for their support, before taking his shirt off to put down on the mat. Dreamer took his daughters from the front row in his arms and carried them up the ramp. They all waved to the camera and crowd, before Dreamer did his infamous entrance yelling pose on stage. Dreamer disappeared backstage with his daughters to close out the final ECW of 2009.

Smackdown Preview 11.20.09

On tonight's episode of Smackdown, tensions will be running high as we head into this Sunday's Survivor Series 2009 Pay-Per-View! Tonight will see a reunion of one of the most powerful tag team forces in the history of the WWE as the Brothers of Destruction unite to face Chris Jericho and Big Show. In recent weeks, Kane was defeated by Jericho which put Jericho into the Triple Threat match for Taker's World Heavyweight title at Survivor Series. Undertaker was displeased, as he mentioned he likes fighting against his brother just as much as he enjoys fighting along side his brother. Tonight he'll get to do just that as the two monstrous WWE stars will take it to JeriShow. Which of the three superstars in this Sunday's Survivor Serise will be on the winning side of the equation? Will JeriShow be able to find a way to win?

Speaking of tensions running high, things continue to heat up in the feud between Batista and Rey Mystero. While the two stars haven't layed hands on one another since Batista's attack at Bragging Rights, it's clear their in-ring confrontation at Survivor Series will be quite an intense battle. Batista diabolically destroyed Matt Hardy in his main event match against him last week, losing by disqualification. The Animal has also claimed he will let nothing and nobody stand in his way to becoming World Heavyweight champion again. Mysterio has announced during his interview that he will show Batista a side of him that hasn't been seen before. What's in store for these two superstars on tonight's episode of Smackdown?

The rest of the Smackdown roster will be preparing themselves for Survivor Series as well, since there's 3 other matches, each of which are traditional Survivor Series elimination matches. The WWE Divas SS teams will have Smackdown's Mickie James and Michelle McCool as captains on opposing sides, along with other divas including Beth Phoenix and Layla. Also, John Morrison will lead his team into battle against former partner The Miz, from Raw. Drew McIntyre, R-Truth, CM Punk and Finlay will be among those trying to help their teams gain victory at the big PPV. How will all of these Survivor Series competitors prepare themselves for the big battle this Sunday?

Winner: Santino Marellla wins via pinfall over Chavo Guerrero.

The Ask the Divas segment was shown. This week's questions: "How do I break up with my girlfriend and go out with her best friend?" and "How do you get over nerves when in front of a crowd?" Gail Kim, Alicia Fox, Bella Twins, Eve, Natalya, Maria and Rosa Mendes were amongst the divas who answered.

Later tonight, Finlay takes on Chris Jericho in a Smackdown showdown.

Primo vs. Jack Swagger

Raw had its second straight match of the night with Swagger's power versus Primo's speed moves. Primo ducked a move early and then shoved Swagger's back. Swagger came back at him, but ended up getting pushed to the corner then tripped down with a drop toe hold. Swagger regained his composure and withstood Primo's attack including a headscissors. Swagger grabbed Primo as he jumped at him in the corner then rammed him back first into it. The ref had to back him away as he kept pounding and kicking Primo.

Swagger hit two of his splash moves off the corner then settled into a submission hold on Primo on the mat. Swagger did some pushups to mock his fallen opponent, but Primo eventually staged a comeback, including a axe chop and lateral press off the corner. He was still unable to secure a pinfall. Primo ducked a clothesline as he ran off the ropes, but Swagger grabbed him the next time around and converted it into the Gutwrench Powerbomb. Swagger continues his undefeated streak since promising it.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over Primo.

Cole and Lawler discussed this past Monday's Raw hosted by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. They launched into highlights including the opening intro, hanging out with DX in the ring and the Raw's Got Talent contest which saw Sharon slap down Jillian and Great Khali chop down Chavo. Hornswoggle came running to the ring dressed as Jack Osbourne to Frogsplash Chavo.

Chris Jericho was shown backstage getting ready for the main event against Finlay.

Tyler Reks vs. Paul Burchill

Byron Saxton and Josh Matthews were in the house to commentate on the ECW's match. Matthews described Reks as an adrenaline junkie who likes surfing or jumping out of airplanes. During the early part of the match, Burchill put Reks on the middle rope and started clubbing him from behind. The ref pulled him back, but Katie Lea walked over to slap Reks in the face. Burchill maintained control as he had a near fall after a lateral press.

Reks fought to his feet but was backed to a corner, then whipped across the ring. As Burchille charged, Reks avoided it then dropkicked him down. An inverted suplex followed, but Reks couldn't get the pin. The ref backed Reks off because Burchill was down. As Reks went towards him, Burchill kicked him and hooked him for the Dangerbuster to win it.

Winner: Paul Burchill wins via pinfall over Tyler Reks.

Superstars returned with a highlight promo video about ECW's Yoshi Tatsu who has quickly risen in the ranks of the ECW, gaining popularity with fans.

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham were on hand for the next match, but first they introduced highlights of the Rey Mysterio and Batista feud which began at Bragging Rights. Rey called Batista out to the ring to talk about their differences. Batista wasn't having any of it, and ended up leaving the ring saying he was only looking out for himself now.

Finlay vs. Chris Jericho

On last Friday night's Smackdown, Finlay was scheduled to fight Drew McIntyre, but he never made it into the ring. McIntyre booted Finlay off the apron, threw him into the steps and attacked him before a match could even happen.

Early on, Jericho stepped to the outside then came back in to lock up with Finlay. He took Finlay to the corner with Finlay shoving him away. Jericho eventually took control as he brought Finlay down and put a submission hold on. Finlay escaped it by wrenching Jericho's wrist back, then leveling him. After a near fall, Finlay began punching away on Jericho who eventually fell flat to the mat. Jericho weathered a kick from Finlay on a backdrop attempt, but then tried for Walls of Jericho. Finlay escaped but got sent to the outside. Jericho ran onto the corner and leapt over the top rope to try to crash onto Finlay. The Irishman moved out of the way and Jericho crashed to the mat as Superstars went to commercial.

As Superstars returned, Jericho had control with Finlay in a headlock on the mat. During break, Jericho whipped Finlay into the steel steps on the outside. Finlay got up and used punches and knees to get away, then tried for a pin. Jericho kicked out then did a kick to Finlay's head for a pin attempt of his own. Jericho began to taunt Finlay as he taunted him on the mat, slapping his head then kicking him. Finlay was enraged and got up to start fighting but got dropkicked down. Jericho maintained control with a variety of moves including a catapult of Finlay into the bottom rope.

Finlay gained the strength to hit a clothesline and take Jericho down. He missed on an elbow drop, then was hit by a back splash from Jericho. Finlay escaped as Jericho ran at him in the corner. He had a near fall, then began to take down Jericho with clotheslines. Finlay hit the Celtic Cross, with Jericho kicking out at 2 1/2. Finlay came back at him, but Jericho grabbed his leg to bring him down then put Walls of Jericho on. Finlay managed to crawl over and grab the bottom rope. Jericho went over to recover near the ropes. Finlay got up and as Jericho came back he hoisted him on his shoulders. Jericho managed to grab the ropes to prevent a move. Finlay dropped Jericho, and as he went back towards him, Jericho got up and hit the Codebreaker.

Winner: Chris Jericho wins via pinfall over Finlay.

Smackdown Recap 10.30.09

Smackdown Recap from Rochester, NY:

The show opened with a video highlight recapping the incident between former friends Rey Mysterio and Batista at Bragging Rights. As Smackdown's TV show opened, GM Teddy Long headed down to the ring. Commentators Todd Grisham and Matt Striker said that tonight, Rey Mysterio will confront Batista for an explanation about Bragging Rights. Long discussed how Smackdown won Bragging Rights, then brought up Batista and Mysterio saying they'll have a talk about their incident tonight. Long also mentioned that Big Show will face Undertaker for the title at Survivor Series. Just then, Chris Jericho came out to interrupt. He brought out the Unified tag titles as well as the trophy Smackdown won from the PPV. Teddy Long told Jericho the trophy is property of the Smackdown brand, so he took it away. Jericho insisted it was his work that earned the trophy. He also chastised Long for booking Show to face Undertaker for the title without consulting Jericho about it. Since Jericho kept saying it was his work that won the trophy at Bragging Rights, Kane made his way out to dispute that fact.

Kane said as co-captain of Team Smackdown, all the claims Jericho makes apply to him as well. Kane said he is also deserving of a title shot at Undertaker. Jericho told Kane that he's the true hero of Smackdown and told Kane to get out of his face. Kane grabbed Jericho around his neck for a chokeslam, but Teddy ordered him to release the hold. Kane did so. Long said since Raw is having a Triple Threat match for its title, so will Smackdown. He said the third competitor for the World Title match will be decided tonight as Kane and Jericho will wrestle over it.

John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler

Early on, Ziggler used a takedown on Morrison, but soon Morrison hit a flapjack move on Ziggler. Ziggler gained control as he punched away on Morrison. He slammed and kicked away on JMo right before the match saw a commercial break.

After break, Ziggler dropped Morrison down on the back of his head. Ziggler kept Morrison down with slow moves, with Morrison trying to muster up a comeback. Ziggler ended it by scoop slamming Morrison. Morrison countered a Ziggler move and went for a catapult move, with Dolph landing on the rope. Morrison was able to hit a flying chuck kick for a two count. Ziggler went to the outside, with Morrison giving chase. Ziggler knocked him down by tripping him on the apron. Ziggler picked up Morrison to slam him face first into the announce table, then got back into the ring, while Morrison was unable to beat the count.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison by countout.

Another highlight video was shown of the incident between Batista and Mysterio. Tonight the two will engage in a confrontation over the incident.

Jenny Brooks vs. Beth Phoenix

Brooks was announced as from Elmira, New York, making her a local favorite, despite being an amateur. Beth Phoenix made quick work of Jenny, who it was said was the only one to defeat Phoenix back at Notre Dame High School in Buffalo. The Glamazon was able to hit a back breaker after tossing Jenny to the outside. Beth finished her off with the Glam Slam to win by pinfall.

Winner: Beth Phoenix wins via pinfall over Jenny Brooks.

Later tonight, Cryme Tyme will host a Halloween costume contest featuring the WWE divas.

Matt Hardy vs. Eric Escobar

The band Divide the Day who does the new Smackdown theme song was shown sitting in the crowd.

Vickie Guerrero was introduced to the crowd and came out wearing a princess costume for Halloween. She introduced Eric Escobar. Early on Escobar hit a clothesline but missed an elbow on Hardy. Matt did a bulldog out of the corner then went for a Moonsault. Escobar stopped him. Matt sent Escobar down to the mat, then hit the move. Matt seemed to tweak his knee on the move, and failed at the pin attempt. Escobar started targeting the knee, using submission holds to work on Hardy. Escobar eventually slammed Hardy down, making Matt's leg hit into the ropes for more damage. Matt scored a Twist of Fate out of nowhere to pick up the under 4 minute win over the newcomer.

Winner: Matt Hardy defeated Eric Escobar.

They showed another piece of footage of Batista turning against Rey at Bragging Rights. Mysterio was shown walking backstage on his way out for the next segment.

More video was shown of the Batista attack on Mysterio from this past Sunday. Mysterio came out to the ring to address the situation. He said the whole beatdown made him really angry inside after it went down, but he realized that Batista was like family to him and that meant more. Mysterio said he wasn't going to leave the ring until Batista came out so they could settle things like men. Batista emerged from backstage looking indifferent.

Batista chastised Rey for pretending to be concerned about his injury, and then asked who he thought he was to call him out. Batista said as the bigger man he'd give Rey one opportunity to leave his ring. Mysterio was about to leave but then turned back. Rey said he realizes brothers fight all the time, so he's willing to forgive and forget. Batista said Rey is probably wondering what he'll do now that he doesn't have Batista as his protector. Rey said he would never have been part of the Fatal Fourway if he knew it would come to this. Batista gave Rey a final chance to leave. Rey didn't and said Batista can do what he feels he needs to but he's staying put. Rey brought up Eddie Guerrero with Batista saying "Eddie's dead". Batista said he's not thinking about anything but himself, then left the ring. Smackdown went to break.

Batista was shown walking backstage after the emotional confrontation between he and Rey moments ago. Matt Hardy came walking up and tried to talk some sense into Batista. He advised him not to make the same mistakes he did with Jeff. Batista ignored it and left the scene. Matt took out his cell phone to make a call. Just then, Batista returned and took Matt down to the concrete floor.

Finlay vs. Drew McIntyre

McIntyre came to the ring and got on the mic. He said he never really wanted to be a part of Team Smackdown, because he would rather make a name for himself on his own. He said the party is over tonight for Finlay. As Finlay got onto the apron, McIntyre hit him with a big running boot shot. Drew tossed Finlay into the steel steps, then jumped on him to start punching away. McIntyre kicked Finlay in the gut, and then ended his beating. The match never officially started due to McIntyre's attack.

Winner: Match ruled a no contest as it never officially started.

Cryme Tyme hosted a 2009 WWE Divas Halloween Costume contest in the ring. Mickie James was dressed up as Elektra. Natalya was dressed as a matador. Layla was dressed as Michael Jackson, and Michelle McCool was a devil. Each of the divas got an intro, then did a dance for the crowd. Mickie ended up winning it to the disappointment of the heels. They all began attacking her, with Michelle getting in the last shots of the beatdown.

Scott Armstrong vs. CM Punk

CM Punk took on the referee who originally helped him screw the Undertaker at Breaking Point. In this match, Punk trash talked Armstrong in the corner, then shoved him. The crowd started chanting for Undertaker. Armstrong tried to get some offense going as he threw some punches at Punk. Punk absorbed the attack and recovered to kick Armstrong in the gut. After a kick to the ref's back, Punk picked him up for the GTS to win the match in about 2 minutes.

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over Scott Armstrong.

Chris Jericho and Kane were shown walking backstage on a split screen, on the way to the ring for the main event match. Winner is put into the Triple Threat match at Survivor Series with Big Show and Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title.

Chris Jericho vs. Kane

Early on Kane hit a powerslam on Jericho for the quick 2 count. The two competitors went back and forth with Jericho trying for Walls of Jericho. Kane powered out of it with his leg strength. Jericho was able to run and knock the Big Red Machine off the apron and into a crowd barrier right before Smackdown took a break.

As the show returned, Jericho was kicking Kane. Jericho grabbed Kane by the legs to catapult him into the bottom rope, then got a two count on him. Jericho went for his bulldog move, but Kane suplexed him to counter. Kane hit several clotheslines. Jericho finally dodged one and hit the enziguiri kick on Kane. Jericho springboarded off the ropes but went right into Kane grabbing his throat. Jericho escaped it but was booted down by Kane for two. Jericho hit a Codebreaker, but was still reeling from injury and was slow to make a cover for 2. Jericho then landed the bulldog, and a Lionsault, but Kane grabbed him for the Chokeslam. Jericho was close enough to the edge of the ring to roll to the outside, avoiding a pinfall.

Kane grabbed Jericho and brought him back in the ring. Kane went for a pin with Jericho kicking out. He kicked Kane then shoved him into the turnbuckle. Jericho put Walls of Jericho on, with kane able to get out of it. Jericho started complaining to the ref and Kane hit an uppercut on him. Kane went for a clothesline off the ropes, but Jericho tripped him up to crotch him on the top rope. Jericho tried to suplex the big man, but had no luck. Kane went off the corner for a move, but was met by Jericho's Codebreaker in the air. Jericho won by pinfall to enter the World Heavyweight Title Triple Threat match at Survivor Series.

Winner: Chris Jericho wins via pinfall over Kane.

The New Team Smackdown

As of Friday night, five members of Team Smackdown were apparently replaced due to a losing effort on the 10/23/09 episode of Smackdown. The show started off with captains Chris Jericho and Kane arriving out to inform the rest of their team that should they lose in a 4 on 4 match, they all would be replaced for Bragging Rights. In a lengthy match, JTG, Eric Escobar, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler were defeated by the team of R-Truth, Matt Hardy, Finlay and The Hart Dynasty. Earlier in their speech, Jericho and Kane noted the absence of Shad Gaspar of Cryme Tyme who was reportedly sick and unable to compete in a 5 on 5 match. That left the other four members to fend for themselves in a 4 on 5 tag match.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the decision was made on 10/20/09 by Vince McMahon to change the team. He reportedly "saw the two original teams together in the ring on RAW last Monday and felt that the SmackDown team looked too weak." The other report was that Shad Gaspar was supposed to lose the match to a Matt Hardy Twist of Fate, but may have become sick over this and went back to his hotel room, causing his absence.

Team Smackdown is now as follows:

Chris Jericho (co-captain)
Kane (co-captain)
R-Truth
Matt Hardy
Finlay
Tyson Kidd (Hart Dynasty)
DH Smith (Hart Dynasty)

It's a surprise move, although you could also say that Team Smackdown had several newer talents that might need a bit more ring time before starring in a match against the likes of DX, Big Show and others. Eric Escobar has really only had one match on Smackdown to date, with Drew McIntyre basically fighting R-Truth multiple times. Ziggler's no stranger to PPV events, but he hasn't been over with the crowds from the reports given. Personally, I was anticipating the new talents getting in there for this one, and the decision was made very close to the actual PPV. While cards are subject to change, they had this lineup for several weeks as they kept hyping the event. Also, it's important to note that Chris Jericho and Kane didn't win their match on Smackdown either (vs. Batista/Mysterio), so their team may have a point of contention. Stay tuned as things could always change yet again...

Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters

The opening match lasted just under 5 minutes. Masters dominated throughout the contest. Santina started to make a comeback and tried to use his own version of The Masterlock. Chris Masters broke out of the hold and put his Masterlock on Santino, causing the ref to soon call for the bell.

The two wrestlers continued to trade offense and momentum, until Christian eventually hit the Killswitch to win it.

Ryder and Christian had the typical staredown after the match, with Ryder remaining seated at the commentators table.

Winner: Christian wins via pinfall over Paul Burchill.

Backstage, Josh Matthews spoke with former champion Randy Orton about losing the WWE Title to John Cena at Breaking Point. Orton claimed his decision to tap out to Cena was a "business decision" and that he would regain the title at Hell in a Cell.

Finlay vs. Dolph Ziggler

Early in the match, Ziggler escaped out of the ring to flee from Finlay's attack. Ziggler climbed over the guard rail into the crowd, with Finlay trying to follow. The referee stopped Finlay before a commercial break. After that break, the two superstars traded kickes and punches, before eventually knocking heads in the corner. At one point in the match, Finlay and the ref began arguing over his shillaleigh which was kicked into the ring. Ziggler was able to seize the opportunity, grabbing the distracted Finlay and hitting his finisher on him.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler wins via pinfall over Finlay.

After the break, Swagger was in control in the ring. He picked up Primo with Primo rolling off his back and trying a quick pin. Swagger escaped, pulled Primo to the corner and slingshotted him. Swagger went for his big splash in the corner with Primo getting out of the way. Primo gained control as he was able to get a crossbody from the corner, then a Russian Legsweep. After the win, Swagger got on the mic to let Kofi Kingston know he's the only superstar born to be US Champion. He told Kingston to forget everyone except him.

Winner: Jack Swagger wins via pinfall over Primo.

Hurricane Helms vs. Paul Burchill

In this ECW feud, both superstars meant business in the ring. Paul Burchill was able to gain control in the match using a neckbreaker followed by a neck submission hold to wear down Helms. Hurricane got back to his feet, and Burchill tried to ram him head first to the turnbuckle. Helms fought back to stop him, using an offensive attack including a reverse DDT, followed by a two count. Hurricane tried to clothesline Burchill, but he ducked, then hit a Pele kick. Hurricane ducked Burchill's clothesline attempt, then hit a crossbody off the corner for a two count.

Burchill rolled to the outside of the ring to recover. Helms went to collect him and put him on the apron for a suplex move. Helms got back in the ring ready to do his Shining Wizard, but as he went for the suplex, Katie Lea held Burchill's leg from outside. Helms began to complain to the ref about it, and that allowed Burchill to hit a quick move on Helms, followed by the rollup pin.

Winner: Paul Burchill wins via pinfall over Hurricane Helms.

Finlay vs. Mike Knox vs. Dolph Ziggler
Triple Threat Match

This match would determine a #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title at Breaking Point PPV. All three men intensely battled in and out of the ring. During one segment, Finlay and Knox fought outside the ring. Ziggler tried the baseball slide dropkick with Finlay using the apron cover to catch him, then punched him. Knox came over and leveled Finlay, then rolled Ziggler into the ring. Finlay rushed in and tried a quick pin on Ziggler, with Knox breaking it up. Ziggler then dropkicked Knox outside so he could fight Finlay one on one inside the ring. The two wrestlers traded punches, with Finlay and Ziggler eventually fighting on the top rope. Knox was back in and put Finlay in an Electric Chair to take him down. Ziggler went for a leg drop off the top rope, but Finlay avoided it.

As the action continued later on, all three men were fighting in the ring. Ziggler hit a move on Knox as Finlay hit a rolling thunder on Ziggler. Finlay went after Knox with Zigler punching Finlay. Ziggler sent Finlay to the corner, but missed on his splash attempt. Finlay then went for a submission hold with Knox coming over to boot him in the face. Knox followed with a suplex on Ziggler, but Finlay went to the middle rope and then tackled Knox down for a 2 count pinfall. Knox rolled over and grabbed Finlay's shillaleigh, then swung at Finlay. Finlay ducked the move and kicked Knox then hit his Celtic Cross finisher for a pin. Ziggler rushed over and pulled Finlay off to toss him into the corner ring post, then took the winning pinfall on Mike Knox. Smackdown Recap 07.31.09

Smackdown Recap from Baltimore, MD:

As Smackdown opened, highlight footage from Night of Champions replayed Jeff winning the World Heavyweight Title from CM Punk. Jeff Hardy was introduced to the crowd as the new champion, and came to the ring to speak. Jeff talked about this being a great moment for him, and thanked all those who supported him. He added that CM Punk was trying to force his lifestyle down everyone's throats, but they said no to him. Jeff said he was high on being the Champion for the fans. He also added that Punk would be using his rematch clause on whoever is the champion after tonight. Jeff then hyped his match with John Morrison for the title later on, and Cryme Tyme came to the ring for the first match of Smackdown.

Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty

The winner of this match gets to faceChris Jericho & Big Show at SummerSlam 2009 for the Unified Tag Team Titles. Late in the match, JTG had control and hit a backbreaker on Kidd in the ring, but Smith rushed in to break up the pin attempt. Shad came in to take Smith to the outside, and jumped from the apron to clothesline Smith down. Back in the ring, JTG hit the Shoutout finisher to collect the win. Cryme Tyme started to celebrate, but it was interrupted when Jericho and Show made their way to the ramp.

Jericho told Cryme Tyme to enjoy their moment of victory because it would be all downhill from there. Cryme Tyme reminded them about what happened when Shaq was there on Raw. They also called Jericho "Christina" and said they'd be leaving Summerslam as the new champs. Jericho and Show told Cryme Tyme to enjoy their party with the criminals because at Summerslam the party will be over.

Winners: Cryme Tyme wins via pinfall over The Hart Dynasty

Melina & Eve vs. Michelle McCool & Layla

In this fast paced divas match, Eve managed to escape an early sleeper hold by Michelle McCool. They both made tags to their partners, and Melina came in to take control against Layla. Melina was about to use a reverse DDT on Layla, until Michelle rushed into the ring to boot her in the face. Eve rushed in to take Michelle outside to the floor. Out on the floor, Michelle kicked Eve in the face to knock her down. McCool got back to tag Layla and tried to put the Faithbreaker on Melina. Melina reversed it and hit her finisher for the win.

Winners: Melina & Eve win via pinfall over Michelle McCool & Layla.

Josh Matthews interviewed CM Punk backstage about losing his title to Jeff Hardy. Punk said he thought it was an upset, and that the better man didn't win the match. Punk said he wished more people were straight edge and told Jeff to enjoy his moment. Punk said he'd take on the winner of Jeff versus Morrison for the title.

Dolph Ziggler was shown backstage with Maria getting ready for his upcoming match.

Rey Mysterio & Finlay b. Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox

After Mysterio went for a 619 in this match on Knox, Knox avoided it, but Rey kicked him and tagged in Finlay. Finlay came in with serious momentum as he took Knox down several times. Finlay was able to kick Knox when Knox charged at him in the corner. But moments later, Knox was able to boot kick Finlay down. Finlay had an apparent leg injury which Knox and Ziggler both began to target as they played "keep away" with Finlay.

Ziggler and Knox continually tagged in and out. The duo worked to prevent Finlay from a tag for a good bit of time, until Finlay escaped Ziggler to finally tag Rey in. Rey was able to use his fast pace offense to gain control against Ziggler, eventually hitting 619. Knox came in to break up Rey's pin after his splash move on Ziggler. Finlay rushed in to clothesline Knox out of the ring. Ziggler started to attack Finlay from behind, so Rey tried to roll up Ziggler for a pin. With Ziggler still on his feet, Finlay hit an elbow on him to take him down into Rey's rollup pin.

Winners: Rey Mysterio & Finlay win via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox.

Josh Matthews interviewed a confident John Morrison backstage who vowed to win the World Heavyweight Title in his match tonight.

The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh were shown walking backstage on their way out for the next match.

The Great Khali vs. Charlie Haas

Early on, Charlie Haas gave his best attempt to strike away at his larger opponent. That's all there was for his offense though, as Khali started to pulverize Haas. Khali was ready to deliver his finisher, but all of a sudden Kane snuck into the ring. Khali turned around and Kane escaped out of the ring. Kane grabbed Ranjin Singh as his hostage and started to go up the aisle. Khali came out to chase Kane, causing Kane to drop Singh at the bottom of the ramp. Khali checked on Singh while Kane was up at the top of the ramp staring at Khali.

Winner: The match ended in a no contest/draw when Kane interfered.

Backstage, both John Morrison and Jeff Hardy were shown getting ready for their main event match.

Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison
World Heavyweight Championship

Morrison and Hardy's battle for the World Heavyweight title lasted over 20 minutes in a free TV classic! The match included some great offensive strikes including a standing moonsault by Morrison onto Jeff for a pinfall attempt. As things wound down, Morrison shoved Jeff into the corner, and Jeff tried for Whisper in the Wind but missed it. Morrison managed to gain the advantage and tossed Jeff to the corner, to connect on a flying heel kick. After a failed pinfall, Morrison scored some more moves and went for Moonlight Drive. Jeff reversed it into a suplex and then connected on a Swanton Bomb off the corner. Morrison somehow kicked out of it. The two continued their battle, with Morrison eventually run at Jeff in the corner to try for Starship Pain. Jeff put his legs up to block it, then hit a Twist of Fate on Morrison. After a second Swanton Bomb, Jeff was finally able to score the winning pinfall.

After the match, CM Punk's music came on and Punk came to the ring to applaud Jeff's win. Punk raised up Jeff's hand, pretending to congratulate him. Punk got on the mic to start a promo, but was faking it and then punched Jeff in the face. From there, Punk continued to beat away on Jeff outside the ring, and threw him into the crowd barrier. CM Punk kept beating on Hardy near the announce table. Punk tore his shirt off and started walking away, but then came back to toss Jeff over the announcers table. Punk got on the mic to tell everyone to watch next week when he reclaims the World Heavyweight Title.

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall over John Morrison to retain the World Heavyweight Title.

Tony Atlas & Hornswoggle Leaving WWE?

It seems with the moves of Mark Henry to Raw and Goldust to ECW that both Tony Atlas and Hornswoggle may be about done with their WWE careers, for now. While both are pure speculation, Tony Atlas may be the more sure release as his contract is expiring in just a few weeks time.

According to twnpnews.com:

Tony Atlas' future with WWE is very much in doubt following the transfer of his associate, Mark Henry, to the Raw brand this past Monday.

Company officials plan on pushing the "World's Strongest Man" as a top babyface, which as a result, has left Atlas to fend for himself as he is not being brought alongside him.

The WWE Hall of Famer's contract is coming due in a few weeks and it remains uncertain whether it will be renewed.

Of course one idea is for Atlas to become the manager for Ezekiel Jackson, another big man like Mark Henry who has yet to wrestle for ECW. Atlas could even align himself with Vladimir Kozlov in his chase for the title. Back in the WWF days, managers took on new wrestlers all the time, so let's hope WWE creative can put Atlas with someone. It would be a shame for Henry to be let go after resurrecting his once dormant career and saving himself from previous issues. Atlas competed in his first wrestling match in some time just a few weeks ago against Evan Bourne, but was on the losing end.

Hornswoggle is another story though. He now has no father figure, with Finlay on Smackdown and Goldust on ECW. Many fans have grown tired of the prankster leprechaun gimmick and found the fact he wins matches to be insulting to other talent. In previous episodes of Raw, Hornswoggle was paired up with Goldust and Festus in some sort of display of "freaks", but now that has been torn apart since the one guy who spoke, Goldust, has been traded to a new show.

ECW Recap 06.23.09

ECW Recap from Milwaukee, WI:

Josh Matthews and Matt Striker welcomed fans to the show just 5 days ahead of The Bash. At The Bash the ECW Title will be on the line in a Championship Scramble match between Tommy Dreamer, Christian, Jack Swagger, Finlay and Mark Henry. Tonight Christian will team up with Dreamer to face Henry and Swagger in a tag match.

Evan Bourne vs. Tyson Kidd

Higlights were shown from the beating Bourne took last week from Mark Henry after two Worlds Greatest Slams. Kidd came to the ring accompanied by Natalya and DH Smith.

Early on in the match, DH Smith got up on the apron to try to distract Bourne. The ref caught it and ordered both Natalya and Smith to leave from ringside. From there, Bourne tossed Kidd outside then jumped off at him. Bourne tried for the quick pin in the ring, but to no avail. Kidd managed to ground Bourne and locked in a chinlock submission for a while before kicking him. Kidd wisely targeted Bournes hurt ribs with knees and then a suplex onto the ropes. Kidd missed on a charge in the corner and Bourne jumped on him off the corner.

Bourne continued his attack with high intensity and fast-paced moves including a headscissors to throw Kidd. Bourne landed a big knee to Kidd's jaw to knock him to the mat before hitting the Shooting Starpress to win it. Bourne kept holding his taped ribs after the victory.

Winner: Evan Bourne wins via pinfall over Tyson Kidd.

Striker and Matthews revealed Finlay's attack last week on Christian with the shilaleigh and later in the night when he clocked Tommy Dreamer as well. Jack Swagger came down to beat up Christian, when Christian tried to save Dreamer. Afterwards, Finlay clocked Swagger with the shilaleigh.

Finlay was shown walking backstage on his way out to explain his actions.

Finlay came down to the ring and picked up a mic. Finlay said a few weeks ago he tried to break up a fight in the locker room between Dreamer and Christian, and in the process he injured his eye. Finlay said nobody reached out to him during his injury, because all he got was a text from them saying sorry. Finlay said sorry doesn't pay his bills, so he retaliated last week for what happened. As Finlay continued to talk, he was interrupted by Zack Ryder who came out with a mic and said Finlay forgot he's got a match tonight against the man, Mr. Woo Woo Woo.

Finlay vs. Zack Ryder

The match was joined in progress with Finlay in control, knocking Ryder down with a shoulder block off the ropes. Ryder eventually took control and hammered on Finlay in the corner a bit, before Finlay took him down with an arm hold. At one point, Finlay collided with Ryder's head and Finlay started holding his eye. Ryder began attacking more, even stepping on Finlay's face.

Ryder remained in control with a headlock down on the mat and several variations of submission holds, followed by knees and boots to Finlay's face. Ryder punched Finlay right in the eye before using another headlock. Finlay made the comeback with several takedowns of Ryder off the ropes, followed by the Celtic Cross. Ryder kicked out of the pinfall. Ryder again hit Finlay in the eye, so the ref went to check on Finlay. Ryder started taking the turnbuckle cover off, so the ref went over to stop him. From there, Finlay grabbed Ryder and rolled him up, holding the tights to win the pinfall victory.

Winner: Finlay wins via pinfall over Zack Ryder.

The Raw Rebound covered last night's Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title. It was an intense battle in and around the ring between Triple H and Orton. Things eventually progressed to the top of the ramp, where a ladder came into play. Triple H's knee had been seriously hurt but he still managed to Pedigree Orton on the ramp. Both HHH and Orton were down as the ref counted to 10, meaning Orton would retain. Donald Trump also made his start as owner of Raw. Trump refunded everyone in attendance's ticket money, then discussed his plans for the show. Vince McMahon came to the ring to confront Trump, then figured out Trump had played him by buying Raw. Vince started offering Trump money to buy back Raw and eventually payed double the price to regain ownership. One of Vince's first acts as new owner was to tell Orton he'll be in a "3 Stages of Hell" match against Triple H at The Bash. First fall is regular, second fall is falls count anywhere, third fall is stretcher match. To end Raw, Triple H attacked Orton on his way into the parking garage and told him he's taking Orton to Hell this Sunday.

Striker and Matthews ran down the card for The Bash including The Miz vs. John Cena, Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk, Rey Mysterio vs Jericho and Triple H vs. Orton in the 3 Stages of Hell match. Striker got in the ring with a chalkboard to explain this Sunday's ECW Championship Scramble. At the end of the 20 minutes in the match whoever's scored the last pinfall will be named winner. The current champ doesn't need to be pinned to lose the title necessarily.

Gregory Helms was backstage interviewing Mark Henry and Tony Atlas about the main event match tonight. All of a sudden a commotion was heard and the camera showed that one of the backstage storage boxes had fallen onto a worker. The man was screaming in pain as WWE officials rushed over to try to lift the box. Henry and Atlas were shown with no Helms there. Suddenly, someone lifted the heavy box off the man to save him and it was the Hurricane. Hurricane quickly rushed off the scene. Henry and Atlas felt some wind blow by them, then Gregory Helms was back interviewing them again. Henry asked what was going on as the segment ended.

Tommy Dreamer & Christian vs. Mark Henry & Jack Swagger

Christian started with Swagger and eventually had him in a headlock. Since Christian had the advantage, he tagged in Dreamer to continue it. Dreamer kept momentum in his team's favor with an armbar takedown but Swagger reversed it and in came Henry. At one point, Dreamer knocked Henry out of the ring, then avoided Swagger near the ropes, causing Swagger to spill out. Dreamer jumped off the apron onto Henry, then Christian jumped onto Swagger, leaving both heels down as ECW went to break.

ECW returned with Christian in control, as he jumped off the corner at Swagger. Christian hurt himself on the jump and crawled over to tag in Dreamer. Dreamer had serious momentum, knocking Henry off the apron and Swagger down to the mat. Dreamer was able to hit a neckbreaker but failed to pin Swagger for 3. Dreamer hung Swagger in the corner then hit his running dropkick. The ref became occupied with Christian, which allowed Henry to enter the ring and attack Dreamer from behind.

Henry continued to dominate Dreamer with punches and other moves before Swagger came in yet again. Swagger continued his team's dominant position until Dreamer mustered up the strength to powerbomb him to the mat. Dreamer managed to crawl over and jump to tag in Christian, just as Swagger tagged Henry. Christian launched a major offensive attack to eventually take Henry down with a dropkick off the corner. Swagger came in to attack, but Christian knocked him out of the ring. After a brief scuffle, Henry regained control on Christian near the corner. Henry glared at Swagger who got back on the apron, then tried to sit splash Christian. Christian avoided it, and Swagger tagged back in. Christian was finally able to get the Killswitch on Swagger but it was near the ropes. Tony Atlas grabbed one of Swagger's legs and moved it under the ropes to stop the ref's pinfall count.

Christian went over and punched Atlas through the ropes. Dreamer ran over and tackled Atlas down to beat on him. Meanwhile, Henry caught Christian as he tried to jump at him off the apron, then slammed Christian's back into the ringpost. Henry tossed Christian back into the ring for Swagger to hit the Gutwrench Powerbomb to win the match.

After the victory, Swagger gloated about the victory and became his cocky self celebrating in the ring. Henry came in and beat down Tommy Dreamer in the ring, then stared at Swagger before hitting the World's Strongest Slam on him.

Winners: Jack Swagger and Mark Henry win via pinfall over Tommy Dreamer and Christian.

ECW Recap 06.09.09

ECW Recap from Biloxi, MS:

ECW opened with highlights from Extreme Rules of the Triple Threat Hardcore Match between Christian, Jack Swagger and Tommy Dreamer. It was Dreamer's "all or nothing" shot at the ECW title, because if he lost he vowed to retire. Dreamer managed to win it despite the tough odds regaining the ECW title in two decades time.

ECW GM Tiffany was in the ring as ECW opened, with a table set up. Tiffany introduced Tommy Dreamer as new ECW Champion, and announced he earned himself a new contract as well. Dreamer came to the ring in street clothes carrying the ECW belt on his shoulder. Dreamer told the fans this was made possible by them. Dreamer thanked the fans from the bottom of his heart for their support and making this the biggest highlight of his career. Dreamer prepared to sign a brand new contract, but just then Christian came out from backstage carrying a box of tissues. Christian threw the tissues to Dreamer as a congratulations gift. Christian noted that Swagger interfered in their matches so many times that Extreme Rules was made into a Triple Threat, and Christian wasn't even pinned to lose the title. Christian said Dreamer owes him a rematch and Christian will regain the title.

As Dreamer got ready to sign his new contract again, Jack Swagger's music came on and Swagger appeared from backstage. Swagger began to say that the fans were here to see him not Dreamer or Christian. Tiffany prepared to discuss the contract extension of Dreamer, but Swagger cut her off saying he's not sure the contract is legit. Swagger told Christian they can take this to the Board of Executives and have Dreamer stripped of his title, or Dreamer can do the right thing and forfeit the belt. Dreamer said no way, and Christian said maybe Swagger has a point. Christian said he's going to do the right thing now, then turned and clocked Swagger, eventually knocking him out of the ring. Dreamer quickly signed his contract extension and then got on the corner turnbuckle to pose with the belt. Christian went over and got Dreamer on his shoulders fast then slammed him through the table.

Josh Matthews announced that those two, Dreamer and Christian will team up to face the Hart Dynasty tonight.

When ECW returned from commercial, Tiffany was talking to a WWE staff member backstage. A bunch of equipment had been knocked over and the man said some guy in green came rushing by but he didn't get a good luck at him. Tiffany spotted someone and told the man she'd be right back. Christian came walking through, and Tiffany confronted him about why he slammed Dreamer through a table. Christian said it was payback for what Dreamer did to him last week. Tiffany said because of that, Dreamer can't compete as Christian's tag partner. Tiffany told Christian it will still be a tag match but his partner will now be Jack Swagger.

Evan Bourne vs. Tony Atlas

Mark Henry accompanied Atlas to the ring, laughing about the fact Atlas was wearing a funny looking red white and blue wrestling suit. Striker said Atlas is wrestling due to the fact he cost Henry a match last week against Evan Bourne.

In tonight's match, the veteran Atlas managed to gain control and use power moves to slam Bourne around. As they were near the corner, Bourne got up fast and DDT'd Atlas to the mat, then went to the corner for the Shooting Starpress to win the match. Bourne's celebration was shortlived as Mark Henry entered the ring and clubbed him down from behind. Henry used the World's Strongest Slam to slam Bourne to the mat hard before leaving the ring.

Winner: Evan Bourne wins via pinfall over Tony Atlas.

Luke Hawx & Chris Lewie vs. Vladimir Kozlov
2 on 1 Handicap Match

Kozlov came to the ring smiling and raising his arms waving to the fans as he came to the ring, a strange change of character for the usually frowning all business superstar.

The Moscow Mauler made quick work of his opponents again. Kozlov started to headbutt one of his opponents hard in the chest before throwing him over his back. The man managed to tag his amateur partner who tried to jump off the ropes at Kozlov. Kozlov batted the man down from the air then used his one hand slam move to finish him. After winning, Kozlov started posing on the corners of the ring.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Chris Lewie & Luke Hawx.

Christian and Swagger were shown preparing backstage in the locker room. Swagger told Christian he knows he doesn't want to be his partner but that he's a winner, so he expects Christian to hold up his side of the partnership for tonight's match.

Last night's Raw incidents were revisited with Batista coming out to celebrate winning the WWE Title at Extreme Rules. Randy Orton came down the ramp to stare down the Animal, and Legacy snuck into the ring behind Batista. Batista was fighting everyone off for some time, but then was overpowered by all 3 men. Eventually they started to target his left arm, with Orton putting it into a chair and stomping on it. Orton eventually snapped Batista's arm back, and Batista had to be taken away by ambulance. GM Vickie Guerrero said that the rematch would go on and if Batista didn't show up for the main event, Orton would win by forfeit.

Later on Raw, Orton waited in the ring with Legacy as the ref started to count to 10 before calling it a forfeit. On the big screen the back of the ambulance was shown so the ref stopped counting. Suddenly, Triple H appeared on the screen with Sledgehammer in hand. The Game made his way from backstage all the way to the ring, taking out Rhodes and Dibiase with the hammer, then getting in the ring to beat up Orton. After fighting in the ring, outside it and into the crowd, things ended back in the ring with a Pedigree by Triple H of Orton onto a steel chair.

Josh Matthews and Matt Striker discussed the special 3 hour Raw next Monday which will include a Fatal Fourway for the WWE Title involving Randy Orton, Triple H, Big Show and John Cena. Also, Tommy Dreamer will defend the ECW title in a rematch against Christian.

Christian & Jack Swagger vs. The Hart Dynasty

Before the match, Natalya said Tyson Kidd and DH Smith will be facing two former ECW champions, but these guys will be future champions. Swagger tried to start the match off, but as the bell rang Christian slapped his back and went in instead. DH Smith came in and took control with his strength against Christian, ramming him down off the ropes with a shoulder block.

Kidd tagged in next and continued to work on Christian. Christian soon gained momentum and dropkicked Kidd from off the corner. Christian and Swagger got into a verbal discussion and Swagger shoved Christian right to Kidd. Kidd and Smith gained control as ECW went to commercial.

The Hart Dynasty stayed in control as they beat on Christian with Swagger watching from the other side. Christian tried to use a flying headbutt off the ropes but Kidd moved away and hit a snap suplex on Christian. Kidd went to the ropes and tried a Moonsault with Christian avoiding it. Christian staggered over towards Swagger as Kidd tagged in Smith. Swagger put his hand out to tag Christian and as he swiped at Christian's hand, Christian pulled his away then slapped Swagger in the face, knocking him off the apron. Christian gained momentum as he attempted to pin Smith several times from there. Christian missed on a headbutt off the corner again and Kidd tagged in.

Christian tried for the Killswitch several times but with no success. At one point Christian managed to flip over Tyson Kidd but he fell towards Swagger. Swagger grabbed Christian and yanked him down across the ropes. Christian was stunned and Kidd tagged in Smith. Smith grabbed Christian in a Bear Hug and Kidd ran off the ropes to clothesline him with the Hart Attack. Smith took the winning pin.

After the match, Swagger, Kidd and Smith all began to attack Christian. Suddenly, Tommy Dreamer came charging down the ramp with a Kendo Stick in hand. Dreamer got in the ring and began smashing the stick on Swagger's back until eventually he cleared the ring. ECW ended with Dreamer raising his arms with the kendo stick as Christian recovered in the corner.

Winners: Tyson Kidd & David Hart Smith win via pinfall over Christian and Jack Swagger.

Christian came down to the ring to start off the show. The ECW Champ talked about how a reality TV star gets a little bit of fame but then it runs out. Christian said the star fades away but still walks around like a dork thinking they're famous. Christian said Swagger is that dork, and he will do something about it right now. Christian called out Swagger saying his 15 minutes of fame are about up. Swagger's music hit and Swagger came out dressed in wrestling attire.

From the ramp Swagger spoke on a mic as he headed towards the ring. Swagger told Christian that Tiffany already granted him another title shot for Extreme Rules. Christian joked asking what the stipulation is, and just then interim ECW GM Tiffany came down to the ring. Tiffany told Swagger what he did at WWE Superstars interfering in Dreamer vs. Christian's title match was not unnoticed. Tiffany told Swagger it'll be a Triple Threat match and introduced the third participant, Tommy Dreamer. Swagger started yelling how it wasn't fair since Dreamer's contract expires the day before the PPV. Tiffany said he signed a one day contract extension. Dreamer got in the ring and started taunting Swagger, who eventually rushed at him, with Dreamer flipping him over the ropes. Christian slapped Dreamer's hand like they were cool and then Dreamer grabbed Christian to toss him out of the ring.

Joey Munos & Russ Taylor vs. Vladimir Kozlov
2 on 1 Handicap Match

Kozlov took on two men on tonight's ECW to display his in-ring talents. Russ Taylor took first crack at Kozlov and was promptly knocked down into the corner several times, so he tagged in Munos. Munos tried for a bear hug but received an elbow in the face and then got manhandled in the corner. Kozlov hoisted him on his shoulders and tossed Munoz on the corner, then kicked him to the outside. Kozlov tossed the amateur Munoz back in the ring before headbutting him in the chest and then delivering a belly to bell suplex. Taylor tagged back in and tried for some offense, with a flying bodypress, but Kozlov batted him down out of the air, then hit his hard slam finisher for the win.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Joey Munos & Russ Taylor.

Backstage, Christian was confronting Tommy Dreamer for what happened out in the ring. Dreamer said both Swagger and Christian payed him no mind when he was announced as the third competitor. Dreamer said he would have beat Christian for the title if Swagger hadn't shown up. Christian attacked Dreamer in the locker room, and the two started fighting on the floor until Finlay rushed in to break things up.

When ECW returned Matt Striker and Josh Matthews reminded fans to not try the moves WWE Superstars do at home. Mark Henry and Tony Atlas came to the ring for the next match.

Evan Bourne vs. Mark Henry

A tale of the tape revealed the differences in these two competitors, with Bourne at 183lbs and 5'9 while Henry is 410lbs and 6'4. Overall, Henry outsized Bourne in every category including his 14 inch fists and size 16 shoes. Early on, Henry shoved Bourne across the ring, then elbowed him on the back of the head as Bourne tried to take out his legs. Henry tossed Bourne up on the ring corner in a seated position and Bourne kicked him in the face then leapt over Henry to the mat. Bourne came off the ropes fast but was leveled by Henry.

Henry continued stomping on Bourne near the ropes, and Tony Atlas got a cheap shot in while the ref talked to Henry. When Bourne was knocked to the outside, Atlas got another cheap shot. Back in the ring, Henry slammed Bourne down on his knee then held him there to stretch him out. Henry did this several times and continued punishing Bourne around the ring. Bourne stayed resilient and avoided a charging Henry in the corner. Henry avoided the Shooting Starpress in the corner, by rolling to the outside. Bourne tried to do a Moonsault and flip onto Henry on the outside with Henry catching him from the air. Henry tried to ram Bourne to the ringpost with Bourne sliding off and shoving Henry to the post. The ref began the countout and as it got towards 10, Bourne ran using Henry as a step to get in the ring and beat the count. Henry was livid at the loss and threw the steel steps on the outside.

Winner: Evan Bourne wins due to countout of Mark Henry.

Backstage, Tiffany yelled at Christian and Tommy Dreamer for their brawl earlier saying they injured Finlay. Tiffany said Finlay won't be able to compete in tonight's tag match so it's now a 3 on 2 handicap match. Christian and Dreamer gave each other a stare before leaving the office.

Tommy Dreamer & Christian vs. Jack Swagger & The Hart Dynasty
3 on 2 Handicap match

Natalya introduced her team prior to the match saying how Tyson Kidd is the only protege of Bret Hart, and David Hart Smith is the only son of the British Bulldog. Natalya introduced herself as the only daughter of Jim the Anvil Neidhart.

During the match, Tommy Dreamer became the target as the heels effectively kept him away from tagging Christian in. Christian finally got in and started to go wild knocking down Tyson Kidd and almost getting him in the Killswitch. Kidd shoved Christian to the corner then charged at him but missed. Christian did his leg kick through the ropes to knock Kidd down. At one point in the match, Christian had the pinfall on Kidd, but Smith came in to break it up. Tommy Dreamer got involved and took Smith to the outside. Kidd managed to deliver a high kick to Christian and then tagged in Swagger. Swagger sent Christian shoulder first into the ropes, then hit the Gutwrench Powerbomb to win it. After the victory, Swagger started attacking Christian. Tommy Dreamer came in and attacked Swagger from behind then began pummeling away on him. The Harts grabbed Dreamer and Smith held him up Bear Hug style so Kidd could come running from the ropes and clothesline him down. With Christian and Dreamer both layed out, the Hart Dynasty held up their arms in unison with Swagger surveying the damage to his 2 future Extreme Rules opponents.

Winners: Jack Swagger & The Hart Dynasty win via pinfall over Christian & Tommy Dreamer.

Two officials came down the ramp and into the ring to try to get Swagger to leave. Swagger said Tiffany could come out and tell Swagger to leave herself. Tiffany came walking down the ramp and got into the ring, telling Swagger to leave several times. Swagger told Tiffany to make things right since Christian has the ECW title and hasn't ever really beaten him, but has cheated each time he's won. Tiffany told Swagger they could talk things over in her office. Swagger said Tiffany is just a temp. Tiffany told Swagger she'd see to it he never became ECW champ again, so Swagger finally left the ring willingly.

The two stopped and gave each other a look, then Swagger shoved Christian off the ramp to the pavement. Christian was on the floor holding his leg as Swagger walked backstage and ECW went to commercial.

Christian vs. Paul Burchill

Burchill's sister Katie Lea accompanied him to the ring for the match. Burchill went after Christian's leg early, sensing the injury from Christian being pushed earlier. Christian did his best to fight him off and prevent the attack, grounding Burchill to the mat. Christian took an early advantage, tossing Burchill around the ring, and working him over. Burchill finally gained control when Christian hopped up on the ropes, and Burchill kicked him in the leg. On the outside of the ring, Burchill was able to whip Christian right into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Burchill continued working on the injured leg as Katie Lea cheered him on from the outside.

Burchill locked in a leg submission with Christian reversing it briefly. As both men got back up, Burchill started in on Christian in the corner, then went to charge at him. Christian avoided, then hit a Tornado DDT off the corner, but failed at the pin attempt. Christian hit several more big moves including a Sunset Flip off the corner for a pin, but couldn't get the 3. Christian's first Killswitch attempt was countered by Burchill, who suplexed the champ. Burchill had Christian in the corner again and ran at him, but Christian moved away then used his flip move from the ropes to kick Burchill in the face. Christian followed with a flying uppercut and then the Killswitch to finish off Burchill.

Winner: Christian wins via pinfall over Paul Burchill.

After the match, Josh Matthews interviewed Christian in the ring, asking his thoughts on what Swagger did earlier. Christian said Swagger had his rematch at Judgment Day and lost, but he also interrupted a title fight between Christian and Tommy Dreamer. Christian issued a challenge to Tommy Dreamer with the ECW title on the line, noting that Dreamer's contract expires in 3 weeks or so.

Matt Striker discussed the Hart Attack that took place last week. with David Hart Smith's arrival to attack Finlay during his match against Tyson Kidd. Smith will make his ECW debut tonight against Finlay.

When ECW returned, Jack Swagger was in Tiffany's office in an argument with her about allowing Christian to continue to be champ. Tiffany suggested that Swagger take the night off before his mouth got him in anymore trouble.

Adam Green vs. Zach Ryder

Ryder came out wearing a purple headband, goggle-like shades and a wrestling tights that were one leg pants, one leg shorts. Early on he slapped his opponent, before taking control of things. Ryder hit an elbow drop, as well as several other punishing combos including a chinlock. While he had the advantage Ryder let out a "Woo Woo Woo" taunt towards the crowd. Ryder's finisher involved him doing a move which looked like the reverse of MVP's Playmaker.

Winner: Zach Ryder wins via pinfall over Adam Green.

Striker and Matthews introduced footage of Finlay being attacked last week by David Hart Smith, and then the formation of a new stable with Tyson Kidd, Smith and Natalya in the ring.

Back in the locker room, Kidd and Natalya walked up to Smith encouraging him for what he did to Finlay last week. Natalya told him his dad would be so proud of him, and Smith said he should be, since he's better than his dad ever was. Smith left to go out to the ring.

WWE Rewind covered Vladimir Kozlov's dominant win over another amateur opponent on ECW last week.

Kozlov came out to the ramp dressed in Russian army gear. Kozlov once again talked about the Russian army being the greatest fighting force in the world, making him the greatest fighting force in ECW. Kozlov said there will be no retreat or surrender, then yelled out some more words in Russian.

Gregory Helms was standing by outside ECW GM Tiffany's office and said the GM officially signed Tommy Dreamer to face Christian for the ECW Title on this Thursday's WWE Superstars. Helms interviewed Dreamer, and Dreamer said it shows just the caliber of man Christian is to request this match. Dreamer said his time's running out so he plans to make the most of the opportunity and win the title Thursday.

Finlay was shown walking in a back hallway, shilaleigh in hand, as he was getting ready to head out for his main event match versus David Hart Smith.

Finlay vs. David Hart Smith

With Natalya and Tyson Kidd at ringside, Smith took control early on with vicious power moves. Finlay made a comeback with a short arm clothesline and then a submission hold down on the mat. Finlay kept using submissions to keep Smith grounded, with Smith standing up to try to escape it. On the outside of the ring, Smith tried to recover with Finlay coming out after him. Smith grabbed Finlay and did a running powerslam in the fashion of the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith.

When ECW returned from a commercial, Smith had Finlay in a chinlock in the ring. Once Finlay was out of the hold, Smith continued stomping on Finlay's head. Finlay rolled to the outside to recover and got back on the apron where he rammed into Smith to get back in the ring. Smith knocked Finlay down again and applied a Bear Hug to squeeze him. Smith punched Finlay in the head several times before applying an abdominal stretch submission. Finlay eventually escaped but his attack was shortlived as Smith gave him a boot to knock him to the mat, then shoved him into the turnbuckle. Once again, Smith applied another submission hold to wear down Finlay.

Finlay gained momentum finally as he was able to shove Smith into one of the ring corners, then continuously clotheslined him down. Finlay landed a sit splash off the ropes, but couldn't capture the pinfall. Finlay had Smith up for a Celtic Cross, but Smith slid off due to Finlay's hurt back. Finlay kept attacking and clotheslined Smith over the top rope. Finlay went to the outside to retrieve his opponent, but after shoving him back into the ring, Natalya came over and slapped Finlay hard. Tyson Kidd tried to rush over for an attack, but Finlay grabbed him and tossed him into the crowd barrier hard. As Finlay went back in the ring, Kidd was quickly back up and tried to enter the ring. The referee became distracted, allowing Natalya to toss her boot into the ring for Smith to clock Finlay with. Smith completed his side suplex style finisher to beat Finlay. The new stable of Natalya, Smith and Kidd celebrated on the ramp with Finlay down in the ring.

Winner: David Hart Smith wins via pinfall over Finlay.
