MVP's Lengthy Title Reign
Once Wrestlemania 24 has ended we will still see MVP as one of the longest reigning title holders in the WWE (barring some challenger from MITB going after him). In all reality we might see Jericho win Money in the Bank, then cash in immediately, pin MVP and own two titles (Intercontinental & US title). Let's assume that doesn't happen, MVP remains your United States Champ.
I think MVP's one of the better heels in the business right now. Many people say Orton's stale, cold, often robotic. I don't think he's terrible. Others were high on Mr. Kennedy, myself included, but he's slipped a bit since winning MITB a year ago. Again, his stock could shoot back up with a MITB victory. Santino Marella is funny but nowhere near as skilled in the ring as Montell Vontavius Porter. MVP also personifies the cocky sports star, very much like Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson the cocky NFL players. So beyond Orton, Kennedy, Edge and Santino Marella, MVP really is the future of heels in WWE and a very smartly created character.
The wrestler MVP beat to start his long run as US Champ, is the guy WWE wrote out of its history books and no longer mentions by name. The length of MVP's title reign may mostly be due to Matt Hardy being out of action. It's a strong possibility he was set to be the US Champ, and would be right now, or would be challenging MVP for it at WM24. The MVP vs. Hardy feud was something WWE worked hard to build up over the weeks, until unfortunate injury circumstances hit. So in the interim, MVP has been given temporary feuds, against the likes of Mysterio, Batista and now Chris Jericho. It almost may have been in WWE's best interest to shift Matt's brother, Jeff over to Smackdown or even Jericho. Both would make worthy adversaries for MVP and also would make worthy US Champions. It would be great to see the Jericho vs MVP feud continue after Mania, and possibly a title for title match at a future PPV, where one man owns both belts. In fact you could argue that maybe the Brand superiority match at WM24 should be just that: Raw's IC champ vs. Smackdowns US Champ.
