Survivor Series 08' - Cena vs. Jericho
We're just a few weeks away from the classic Survivor Series, a traditional WWE Pay-Per-View that arrives just as turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing do for Thanksgiving! One of the main event matches for the event will of course be Chris Jericho defending his World Heavyweight title against the returning superstar, John Cena. Cena's been out several months after suffering a neck injury in his match with Batista. As we've seen from the many promo videos since Cena's absence, he's always dedicated to returning to the ring stronger and better than ever.
Jericho's definitely been through a lot, having lost his title at Cyber Sunday to Batista, in what he claimed was a conspiracy by the fans and former GM Mike Adamle. Batista held the title for just 8 days before Jericho managed to defeat him inside a steel cage on Raw. Jericho's also been through a serious war with Shawn Michaels, which we saw culminate on Raw in a Last Man Standing Match. Jericho barely won this match, and had assistance from JBL, who interfered and smashed a steel chair over HBK to cause him to fall for the count of 10. Through it all Jericho has managed to continue to be a champion, not necessarily of the people, but of taking opportunities and making the most of them. He's very similar to how Edge worked as a heel on Smackdown. Jericho continues to irritate fans, find all sorts of ways to win, and yes, even shows exceptional talent in the wrestling ring.
Turning the attention to the match and forecasting what we might expect in the future of the World Heavyweight title, it looks like Cena is going to be on an emotional high. He'll be fighting Jericho for the title, but in his homecourt, Boston, Massachusetts. It's hard to go against Cena in this match, although Jericho has been surviving many situations recently. Cena should emerge triumphant here, as it looks to set up Batista vs. Cena II, this time with the prized title on the line. Possibly we see this match go down at Royal Rumble in January, as Batista and Orton have unfinished business first, to decide which of them is top contender. We may even see a Triple Threat (Batista, Orton, Cena) or Fatal Fourway (Jericho, Cena, Batista, Orton) for the title at the Royal Rumble.
