Raw Recap 11.10.08

Raw recap from United Kingdom:

Raw opened with highlight of last week's Steel Cage match between Chris Jericho and Batista for the World Heavyweight title. Earlier in the night, Shane McMahon announced the champ will defend against John Cena at Survivor Series. In the main event match, Batista and Jericho went all out, with Y2J eventually using part of the steel cable apparatus up near top of the cage to beat on Batista's head. Jericho was able to repeatedly hit Batista, drawing blood and causing the Animal to fall into the cage as Jericho climbed out to victory.

A riled up crowd welcomed Batista as he arrived down the ramp to the ring. Batista immediately asked to invoke his rematch clause and win back his championship. Just then, Stephanie McMahon appeared on the Titantron live from WWE Headquarters in CT. Steph said unfortunately Batista can't have a rematch for the title until after Survivor Series, out of respect for Shane's orders. Stephanie then said with the resignation of Mike Adamle it is time for a new era on Raw, one of forgetting the past and moving forward. Steph announced that Rey Mysterio will face Kane in a No DQ match, and Shawn Michaels will face Jericho in a Last Man Standing match, to end these feuds on Raw.

After Stephanie ended her comments, Randy Orton came out from backstage and headed to the ring with Batista still there. Orton told Batista he'll have to wait in line for a title shot, because first its Cena's shot, then Orton's shot. Orton told Batista he's just better than him, since the days of Evolution and now. Batista told Orton based on history he's better than him in every, way, shape and form. Batista said since tonight is about settling old scores and moving on, so he challenged Orton to a match for tonight. Orton accepted but said once he wins the title back he'll be champ longer than just 8 days.

WWE Slam of the Week highlighted last week's Over-the-top-rope Battle Royal for the #1 contender spot for IC title. It came down to Dibiase vs. Shad, with Dibiase dropkicking him off the apron. Santino currently has 13 weeks for his reign. As he continued talking and dissing Regal and England, William Regal came to the ring to interrupt and start the match.

Regal started the match with a vengeance, whipping Santino corner to corner and elbowing him down. Regal quickly tossed Santino down, then came off the ropes to knee Santino in the head. With Santino knocked out, Regal scored the winning pinfall in extremely fast fashion.

Michael Cole interviewed Regal in the ring after his win. The crowd chanted Regal! Regal! as Regal savored the moment. Santino informed Beth that Shane set up a match for her to defend the Women's title against Mickie James tonight. An angry Glamazon took Santino's cell phone and threw it against the wall, then glared at Santino before storming off.

Rhodes quickly slapped Orton in the face. An enraged Orton tried to go at Rhodes but Manu held him back until Orton finally left the scene.

Batista vs. Cody Rhodes

Before the match even started, Team Priceless (Manu & Rhodes) came down to the ring. Rhodes took a mic and told Orton he can't beat him or Batista. Rhodes told Orton he's going to beat Batista and asked the ref to ring the bell. Batista smirked as Rhodes got into the match, and Orton left the ring to watch.

During the match, both men had outbursts of offense. At one point, Rhodes tripped Batista into the lower turnbuckle. Manu delivered a cheap shot as the ref warned Rhodes. Batista came back to deliver a big boot off the ropes and then a clothesline. Rhodes tried to gain offense again off the ropes, but Batista caught him for a Spinebuster. Batista then knocked Manu off the side apron and used the Batista Bomb to slam Rhodes to the mat.

Beth grabbed Mickie's arms behind her back and attempted to do her finisher, but Mickie used the ropes to kick herself back at Beth and counter for a pin. Again Beth kicked out. Mickie continued with her attack, dropkicking Beth on the mat and ramming her in the ring corner.

Mickie went to climb outside to the corner, but Santino pushed her causing her to lose balance.
