WWE Superstars Recap 09.24.09

On the 9/24/09 episode of WWE Superstars shown on WGN America, Raw, ECW & Smackdown each provided matches amongst members from their rosters. Tonight's action included Primo taking on Chris Masters, ECW's William Regal battling Goldust, and from Smackdown Matt Hardy fought Kane, while the lovely WWE divas Melina and Maria faced Michelle McCool & Layla in tag team action. WWE Superstars 9/24/09 Results

Primo vs. Chris Masters

A match between Raw superstars opened up the show. Maters was in control of things after an early clothesline and then a running powerslam, but could only get two counts. Masters continued his work as he put Primo in the corner and speared him, then went for a leg drop. Primo moved out of the way. He tried to send Masters to the corner, but Masters reversed to whip Primo hard. Masters prepared for the Masterlock with Primo able to kick him and avoid the submission hold. Primo gained some momentum behind clotheslines and a flying shoulder tackle which took Masters down. Primo was on a roll and flew at Masters for a flying crossbody. Masters caught him and went for the Masterlock, but Primo rolled out of it, turning it into a rollup pinfall for the win.

Winner: Primo wins via pinfall over Chris Masters.

William Regal vs. Goldust

On ECW this past Tuesday, Regal promised Goldust he was going to make an example of him. On Superstars, the two battled with Regal taking out his frustrations on the odd superstar. Regal gained control after tossing Goldust to the outside and kicking him. After a break, Regal worked on Goldust's arm in the ring. Goldust battled out and threw Regal into the corner, then charged. Regal avoided his opponent, causing Goldust to hit the corner. Regal charged at Goldust, with the bizarre one getting a powerslam on Regal. Regal then punched Goldust in the midsection and sent him into the ropes. As Goldust was hanging across the ropes, Ezekiel Jackson got a rough punch in with the referee witnessing it, immediately calling the match.

After the match, Kozlov and Jackson got into the ring to shoulder tackle Goldust down. Regal put his "Regal Stretch" submission on as his henchmen watched. ECW Champ Christian, Tommy Dreamer and Yoshi Tatsu came rushing to the ring to clear the heels out and save Goldust.

Winner: Goldust wins due to disqualification of William Regal when Ezekiel Jackson interfered.

Maria & Melina vs. Michelle McCool & Layla

Despite their issues from Smackdown last week, Maria and Melina partnered up for a divas tag match. Early on, Melina hit a flying headscissors to take Michelle down. Both she and McCool tagged in their partners, with Maria getting the upperhand on Layla. McCool provided some distraction when she tried to hit Maria, allowing Layla to kick her. Michelle tagged back in and began to work on Maria with submission moves and a choke on the ropes. Soon, Layla was back in to keep Maria in the corner and apply a chink lock. Maria struggled to get away and went for the tag, but Layla yanked her down by her hair, then went over to knock Melina off the apro. As the ref was checking on Melina, Michelle came in to deliver a huge boot to maria, KOing the diva. Layla took the winning pinfall, and after the match Maria and Melina argued over things.

Winners: Michelle McCool & Layla win via pinfall over Maria & Melina.

Matt Hardy vs. Kane

In the main event, Smackdown superstar Matt Hardy faced the Big Red Machine, Kane. In the early part of the match, it wa matt Hardy who avoided an elbow drop, then kicked Kane as he went for a back drop on Matt from the ropes. Matt tried to kick Kane with no effect, so Kane charged at Matt near the ropes. Hardy pulled the rope down causing Kane to go flying to the outside. Superstars took a break with Kane down outside the ring.

As Superstars returned, Matt went for a double axe off the middle turnbuckle ropes. Kane grabbed him by the throat but Matt escaped it. Kane was able to hit a big boot on Matt to take control, stomping away on Hardy in the corner. After whipping Matt to the corner, Kane began choking Matt in the ropes, then brought Hardy onto his feet for a Bear Hug.

Matt got out of the hold but Kane hit a sideslam on him and started working the Bear hug again. Matt finally escaped using headbutts, but Kane caught him on a crossbody attempt. Hardy was able to slip off Kane's grasp, and gained momentum, eventually hitting a running bulldog, then a DDT, for a two count. Matt went for a Twist of Fate near the corner, but Kane lifted Matt up and dropped him crotch first on the top rope. Kane dropped Matt on his crotch on the top rope again and the ref called for the bell over a strange DQ.

Following the decision, Kane chased the ref so he left the ring, then hit a Chokeslam on Hardy, before backing away up the ramp.

Winner: Matt Hardy wins due to disqualification of Kane.
