Smackdown Preview 09.18.09
On this past week's episode of Raw, The Animal Dave Batista made a huge return to the show, with a big announcement for the fans. While it appeared that Batista might be hanging up his wrestling boots for the final time due to his biceps tear injury, it was soon revealed to Randy Orton and the WWE Universe that Batista was in fact heading to Friday nights. Batista wrestled his final match on Raw, getting a victory against Randy Orton as sweet revenge for Orton's attack that sidelined him for months. Now Batista is moving to Smackdown in search of new competition. He'll have his hands full with the returning Undertaker and current straight-edge World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. Batista makes his official return on Friday. What will the Animal have to say to the Smackdown roster?
At Breaking Point this past Sunday, the World Heavyweight Title was decided in a Submissions match between Undertaker and CM Punk. However, Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long might have some explaining to do regarding the outcome of the match. Undertaker had the Hells Gate submission locked onto Punk, causing the champ to immediately tap out. The ref tried to award Taker the title, but soon Teddy Long changed all that when he reminded everyone the Hells Gate submission had been outlawed by previous GM, Vickie Guerrero. The match was restarted, and in the second contest, CM Punk quickly locked his Anaconda Vice hold on Taker. While Taker never officially tapped, the ref ruled in favor of Punk, awarding him the win. Punk retained his title, and Undertaker was none too happy. What will Teddy Long have to say regarding the outcome of the match, and how will Undertaker react? What's next for CM Punk?
In other action, the Unified Tag Champions Chris Jericho and Big Show are still on a roll. The champs managed to pull off another victory, this time against the recently formed tag team of Mark Henry and MVP. In the match, Mark Henry seemed to have control of things against Jericho. However, it was Big Show who scored a knockout punch from ringside, sending Henry to the mat for Jericho to pin. On the recent episode of Raw, the team of Mark Henry, MVP and Trish Stratus were able to defeat Jericho, Big Show and Beth Phoenix. With their recent victory over Henry and MVP, will Jericho and Show move on to new opponents, or will Raw's latest tag team look for a rematch opportunity?
