Smackdown Preview 10.23.09

Tonight's Smackdown will feature a World Heavyweight Title rematch just two days ahead of the Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View. At Breaking Point, The Undertaker was part of a 2009 Montreal Screwjob which involved a conspiracy formed by CM Punk, Smackdown GM Theodore Long and referee Scott Armstrong. Undertaker was able to make CM Punk tap out to his Hell's Gate submission hold in the match, but Teddy Long quickly came out to remind him that the move had been banned. The match was restarted and Punk immediately knocked Taker down to put the Anaconda Vice submission on. Referee Scott Armstrong quickly called for the bell, but Undertaker had never tapped. Punk was ruled the champion, only to lose to Taker at Hell in a Cell, the next Pay-Per-View. Punk soon requested that he receive a rematch, and Mr. McMahon granted him the rematch for tonight's show, with all the culprits from the original screwjob present. Undertaker has promised to extract revenge on all involved, and to read Punk his "last rites" prior to Bragging Rights. Will Undertaker succeed in doing so, or will Punk be able to win back the World Heavyweight Title heading into the Pay-Per-View?

Also, with Bragging Rights impending there's plenty of members of the Smackdown roster looking to prepare for their PPV matches. Team Smackdown will challenge Team Raw for ultimate Bragging Rights. Therefore, Smackdown's members will be trying to get themselves ready as they head into the event. On Raw, they ended up in an all-out brawl with the members of Team Raw. The charge onto Raw was lead by team captain Chris Jericho, as his co-captain, Kane, brought out Dolph Ziggler, Eric Escobar and Drew McIntyre. Cryme Tyme was also in the house for the melee that ended Raw. However, nothing was resolved during that brawl. How will the members of Team Smackdown get themselves mentally and physically ready for this weekend's big match?

At the Pay-Per-View, four other Smackdown wrestlers are part of the matches to determine brand superiority. First off, the WWE divas will be involved in a 3 on 3 tag match between the two brands. Smackdown's Natalya, Beth Phoenix and Michelle McCool will be looking to show that they are the best divas the WWE has to offer compared to Raw's Melina, Gail Kim & Kelly Kelly. Also on the event's card, Intercontinental Champ John Morrison from Smackdown will take on his former partner, The Miz, who is the current United States champ on Raw. During last week's Smackdown, the two were part of "The Dirt Sheet" during which they ribbed each other about who was the best. Now as the PPV approaches, John Morrison will look to get himself prepared to take on the Miz. How will the Smackdown divas and John Morrison prepare for Bragging Rights on tonight's show, or will they get some time off prior to the event?
