Raw Revelations: The Snoop Dogg Show
Another true WWE fan, Snoop Dogg, was in the house as the latest guest host of Monday Night Raw. The well known rapper, reality TV star and celebrity made it a fun, comical show. He arrived out in a pink cadillac with The Bella Twins and Eve, who all danced their way to the ring to his new song "Gangsta Luv". At times you had to realize that John Morrison was right with what he said on The Dirt Sheet on Smackdown that Raw is a lot like Saturday Night Live these days. It featured skits which mocked Snoop's love of blazin' up, by cutting to a "technical difficulties" picture on the screen with elevator music, and then showing smoke in the air. Of course the smoke was coming from Snoop's favorite scented candles. Snoop also spent the majority of his night hanging with the WWE Divas, The Bellas, Eve Torres, and then getting into some action in the ring. Snoop had a clothesline and sort of a spear takedown on Chavo Guerrero, followed by more dancing with Hornswoggle & the divas. He claimed the show would be all business, and he made sure to arrange some matches which had relevance to Bragging Rights as well.
Case in point, and the match that may have surprised many people was John Cena losing in a classic Raw match to Triple H. They kept billing it as what may have been Cena's last appearance on Raw, but you have to figure no matter who wins on Sunday to become WWE Champion, Triple H is next in line as the challenger. It's hard to believe they will take Cena off Raw, unless of course he has a new movie role he has to get into.
Also on Raw, Team Raw had a test match against 5 other Raw superstars. The stipulation HHH attached was if any member of Team Raw was pinned, the guy who pinned him takes his spot on the Team. I was hoping personally that MVP would make the pin on Cody Rhodes to make Team Raw a little more face friendly. Unfortunately, it was not to be, and Jack Swagger stole Cody Rhodes' pinfall to win it. Rhodes showed dissension earlier as did other team members. They all brawled after their win, with several guys getting tossed out, or flattened by Big Show. There was a funny line earlier when Kofi Kingston started speaking with a non-accent, and HHH said "wait a minute, aren't you supposed to be Jamaican?" However, it seemed the crowd wasn't too into the jokes. They also got on HHH about a joke directed towards overweight people in relationships, which he made about Vickie Guerrero.
Other highlights of the show saw Melina successfully defend the Divas Championship against Jillian Hall in her rematch. For some reason Chavo was at ringside to coach Jillian, but when he got involved, a mini-gangsta version of Hornswoggle emerged to get Chavo. That's what lead up to Snoop's appearance to save the day, and his lil' homie Hornswoggle.
A nice surprise moment saw Snoop book The Miz to face WWE veteran and former Rockers member, Marty Jannetty. Miz had dissed Jannetty during The Dirt Sheet on Smackdown. Jannetty looked decent in the ring despite his age showing. It was obvious Miz wasn't going to take a loss leading into the PPV, which is why the HHH victory over Cena was so surprising. They could have ended it with time expiring or a double countout, but for some reason the boss' son-in-law picks up the win..Enough about that though.
The other interesting match pitted Randy Orton against Ted Dibiase. During that match, Orton ordered Dibiase not to lift a finger or he'd suffer for it. During the contest, Orton continually slapped around his Legacy member, and at one point as Dibiase came off the ropes he pushed back. It doesn't hurt Dibiase all that much since he's not part of Bragging Rights, although they could have started something with it. To date, Dibiase is now 0-2 against his mentor, and you have to figure that they are leading up to a Legacy break-up with Dibiase eventually able to defeat Orton in singles action. First, I'm sure Dibiase will be fighting Rhodes, then he'll go after The Viper.
Next week the show is hosted by two NASCAR racing stars, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. Unfortunately, they don't have Bob "Spark Plug" Holly there to wrestle, but they might be able to have some interesting diva match tied in to racing. But will we also be forced to see Hornswoggle decked out in NASCAR apparel including a helmet so he can somehow embarass Chavo Guerrero?
