Elimination Chamber 2010 PPV Matches
The Elimination Chamber 2010 PPV will be the final Pay-Per-View before Wrestlemania 26, as it arrives on Sunday February 21, 2010. The PPV is named after its signature match involving the looming steel structure around the ring. Elimination Chamber was chosen as the PPV name over Heavy Metal, Battle Chamber, Chamber of Conflict and No Way Out via a fan vote on WWE.com. This will be the first edition of the newly named PPV, which was called "No Way Out" a year ago.
The Elimination Chamber is described as a "heinous structure - which is composed of two miles of chain and 10 tons of unforgiving steel". It features six men inside the chamber, in two different matches, one from Raw for the WWE Title and the other from Smackdown for the World Championship.
The rules of the Chamber match, according to WWE.com:
* Two Superstars will start the match while the remaining four are enclosed in glass pods.
* At designated times, a pod will open at random, enabling a Superstar to enter the match. This will continue until all the competitors have been released.
* A man is eliminated via pinfall or submission only.
* The last man standing is the winner.
This year's Elimination Chamber will be held at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The Official Theme Song for WWE Elimination Chamber is “Rise Up” by Cypress Hill. Check for availability of Elimination Chamber PPV tickets here.
Here's a look at the known matches for this year's Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View, and how they came about.
Gail Kim vs. Maryse
Raw's WWE Divas have been part of a divas championship tournament that lasted over the course of several months. Participating in the tournament were the likes of Kelly Kelly, the Bellas, Jillian Hall, Alicia Fox, Maryse, Eve Torres and Gail Kim. In the semifinals, Maryse was able to defeat Eve Torres, while Gail Kim used a ringside distraction to her advantage to hit a finishing move on Alicia Fox. Now Gail and Maryse will meet at Elimination Chamber to finally crown a new WWE Divas Champion. Will Maryse or Gail Kim emerge from the PPV as new divas champ?
Kane vs. Drew McIntyre
In a match added just recently, the man Vince McMahon called a future World champion puts his title on the line against a monster. These two met about a week ago on Smackdown in a match which saw both men topple over the top rope to the floor. As the countout was ongoing, Kane continued to pummel on McIntyre until the ref's count hit 10. Both men were counted out. Back in the ring, McIntyre angrily leveled Kane with a boot kick. He went out to grab his Intercontinental title and tried to strike Kane, only to be hit by a vicious Chokeslam. The following week on Smackdown, McIntyre watched from up on the ramp as Kane defeated Dolph Ziggler by pinfall. Afterwords, the two superstars got into another ring confrontation with Kane getting the upperhand again. McIntyre has been "undefeated" according to Smackdown's commentary team, and his Intercontinental title reign has been impressive so far. Will he be able to continue that run, or will he finally be defeated by one of the most barbaric wrestlers in the WWE, Kane?
