Rumble + Chamber = Wrestlemania 26 card
The 2010 Royal Rumble gave one superstar the "Edge" to win it all, and that was of course, the Rated-R Superstar, Edge. He made his surprise return from injury, after many were speculating he would do so at the Pay-Per-View and probably cost Chris Jericho the match, at least. Edge did much more, including eliminating Jericho and moments later John Cena to win the match. Just a night later on Raw, Edge was the first man introduced to the crowd as the 2010 Rumble winner and he discussed his options, but kept a lid on his plans. He survived a near attack from Sheamus and speared him down to show that he isn't to be taken lightly. This Friday, he'll have the other current champ, the Undertaker as a guest in the ring on Smackdown. Edge maintained during his talk on Raw that he could wait until things shake out after the Elimination Chamber to make a decision, and most likely that will happen.
Here's where things get interesting, because the Rumble and Elimination Chamber will help formulate our Wrestlemania 26 card. There's plenty of ideas brewing, but we know some things. For example, Shawn Michaels wants the Undertaker really bad in a Wrestlemania rematch. It's hard to see this happening for the Heavyweight title, because to truly and cleanly end Taker's streak, it would mean HBK would have to win the belt too. I think Michaels is still going to get his match with Taker, although he may have to resort to some cheap tactics to do so as part of his "obsession" with ending the streak.
This can work a few ways. Michaels may somehow find a way to qualify for the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match and cost Undertaker the World Heavyweight title, or he just might win it. I'll bet on the former, with Michaels either part of the Chamber match or interfering to cost Taker the belt. That will enrage the Deadman and set up their Wrestlemania rematch, where Taker will want revenge, and Michaels will want to cure his obsession of ending the streak. Now that leaves us with more Wrestlemania matches to figure out, like who will have which belts, who will Cena, Batista, Edge face, etc. etc.
It looks like due to events after last night's Raw that John Cena rushed to the ring to try to save Bret Hart from Batista, only to become the victim of a beatdown from The Animal. This is likely setting up some renewed confrontation between Batista and Cena, who had just one match at a Summerslam event, but that match saw both men get injured in the process. There was always talk of another round, and we now appear to be heading toward the next rounds. They may end up fighting as tag partners of Vince and Bret Hart, or just have those figures in their corner at Wrestlemania 26.
We may see a D-Generation X split up, and they possibly lose the belts on next week's Raw to CM Punk and Luke Gallows of the Straightedge Society. Many believe that Punk is a lock for another Money in the Bank Ladder match, so we'll see what happens. DX should lose the titles prior to Mania, so HHH and Michaels can go their seperate paths. Michaels will then be able to face Undertaker at WM26, and perhaps HHH will either be WWE Champion to defend against Sheamus, or he'll be challenging Sheamus for the belt.
That brings us back to Edge, and my best guess is that despite Chris Jericho's recent TMZ arrest news for the drunken incident in Kentucky, he will win the Elimination Chamber. Shawn Michaels may play into this, by either eliminating Taker from the match, or interfering. It seems the perfect fit for the storyline, where Jericho can recapture the gold, continue his insulting, bragging and put downs towards Edge, and give Edge the easy choice of who he'll take on at Wrestlemania 26.
Who do you think will be holding the WWE and World Heavyweight titles as we go into Wrestlemania 26? Also, leave your comments on other matches you expect to see at the event!
