WWE NXT opened with highlights from last week's action. On last week's show, David Otunga lost to Darren Young due to an altercation ringside between R-Truth and Luke Gallows. Later on, Truth and Otunga got into a shoving contest then fought backstage. Chris Jericho's rookie Wade Barrett picked up a debut win over an already bruised Daniel Bryan. Matt Hardy and Justin Gabriel picked up a tag team win over William Regal and Skip Sheffield.

Daniel Bryan & The Miz vs. David Otunga & R-Truth

The Miz came out to the ring with his rookie for this week's show. They showed highlights of what R-Truth and John Morrison did to MizShow last night on Raw, sending a message without ever starting the match. Miz gave a pep talk to his rookie before the match, saying Bryan has yet to prove anything and is 0-2 in WWE NXT. Miz said if Bryan lets him down tonight by getting pinned, he'll personally make sure he never achieves his goal of becoming a WWE star and he'll have him thrown off NXT.

Bryan offered Truth a handshake to start it off, but Truth danced and ignored it. Truth knocked Bryan down early with a shoulder block and then a solid clothesline for a near fall. Otunga tagged in to help out for a double shoulder block. Both Miz and Bryan were knocked out of the ring, so Otunga came in to whip Truth towards the ropes. Truth flew out over the ropes crashing onto Miz and Bryan.

In the closing moments, Daniel Byan made a blind slap tag to Miz from the apron, then landed a missile dropkick on Otunga. He kicked away on Otunga before eventually eluding Otunga and then turning Otunga's move into a submission hold. Otunga was writhing in pain and Bryan locked it in. Bryan moved closer towards Miz' corner, where Miz slapped Bryan to get himself in. Bryan and Miz got into a pushing match, and with the ref occupied, R-Truth got in then hit a spinning kick on Miz. Otunga followed with a hard slam move to the mat for the winning pin.

Bryan stared at Miz in the ring, before starting up the ramp. After a replay of what just happened, Miz was screaming at his rookie telling him he will have him thrown out of NXT. Bryan gave Miz a head bob to make him think he was going to strike him. Miz backed off and Bryan walked up the ramp.
