WWE NXT Results 01/25/11

WWE NXT Results from Cincinnati, Ohio:

Striker had all four of the remaining rookies in the ring for the first challenge of the night: Brodus Clay, Byron Saxton, Johnny Curtis and Derrick Bateman. Before the contest, Striker noted that there was a bit of a rules violation during last week's Matching Game. They showed surveillance video footage of Derrick Bateman handing Daniel Bryan a cheat sheet before the game with all the answers. Striker said due to this violation, Bateman would be penalized tonight.

The competition tonight was "Outthink the Fink" but none of the rookies succeeded in the contest. Therefore, no immunity points were earned.

Daniel Bryan vs. Ted Dibiase

Bryan had his rookie Derrick Bateman at ringside, while Dibiase had his rookie Brodus Clay and girlfriend, Maryse. Late in this exciting matchup, Bryan had the upperhand after kicking Dibiase in the gut and then connecting on a slingshot kick through the ropes. However, when Bryan went for the suicide dive on the outside, Dibiase hit him with the elbow to the face. Once both men were back in the ring, Dibiase was able to hit Dream Street on Bryan and picked up the pinfall win.

Winner: Ted Dibiase wins via pinfall over Daniel Bryan.

Back from break, they did the Royal Rumble by the Numbers video piece which highlighted various stats from the history of the Royal Rumble. Todd Grisham said favorites for the 2011 version include Kane, John Cena and Big Show, with Ted Dibiase a possible dark horse after his win tonight.

Backstage, they showed Maryse giddy about Dibiase's victory tonight. Dibiase instructed his rookie Brodus Clay to win tonight's four-way match and then keep Dibiase as his pro. Clay said he'd do that. Maryse started saying stuff in Frnech, and Dibiase responded "I don't speak French!"

Brodus Clay vs. Derrick Bateman vs. Byron Saxton vs. Johnny Curtis
Fatal Fourway Elimination Match

The other three rookies teamed up on Bateman early on, eventually beating him up to the point of a quick pinfall. It was down to Brodus Clay, Byron Saxton and Johnny Curtis. Saxton and Curtis hit the double suplex on Clay. Clay rolled to the outside while Saxton and Curtis faced off in the ring. Saxton ended up tossing Curtis over the top rope out onto Clay as NXT went to commercial break.

Johnny Curtis landed a huge double leg drop off the corner after the break, then made the pinfall cover on Saxton. It came down to just Curtis versus Brodus Clay. Clay took control of things and used his foot to choke Curtis in the corner. Brodus Clay eventually overpowered Curtis and slammed him down to the mat by the throat, securing the pinfall.

Post-match, Ted Dibiase and Maryse arrived to the ring to congratulate their rookie. With the win, Striker asked Brodus if he wanted to switch pros. Clay started to talk about how Dibiase has the money, the power and the skills, but he isn't one thing - the Million Dollar Man. Clay said Dibiase can't control his women and he's the brokest rich dude he's ever met. Clay said he's switching pros and going with Alberto Del Rio from here forth.

Clay finished things by using his choke slam finisher on Dibiase, before walking over and staring at Maryse, then leaving the ring. He joined Del Rio up on the ramp to raise arms as the show ended.

Winner: Brodus Clay wins the Fatal Fourway and chooses Alberto Del Rio as his new pro.
