Elimination Chamber 2011 Matches too Predictable?

While the WWE's 2011 Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View at least gave fans a bit of unpredictable fan with 40 competitors, it appears they might not get the same treatment at the Elimination Chamber PPV. On Monday Night Raw, two early matches were scheduled for the event with very predictable results.

The first match fans learned of is the WWE Championship match which will involve The Miz defending his belt against Jerry "The King" Lawler. Lawler won a special 7-man "Raw Rumble Match," in which Sheamus bumped Lawler into Cena on the apron, sending Cena out of the match. Sheamus went for his Brogh Kick, but Cena wisely pulled the top rope down so Lawler would get the win thanks to Cena.

That also would arrange the six competitors for the Elimination Chamber match. They were the six "losers" of the "Raw Rumble Match," R-Truth, John Cena, Sheamus, John Morrison, Randy Orton and CM Punk. Those six will battle it out in that dark, forboding structure with the winner becoming #1 contender for the WWE Championship.

These matches will be setting up the picture for Wrestlemania 27. At this point it appears Lawler will nearly win the WWE Title again only to be stopped by Michael Cole. That will set up a big match between those two at WM27. Meanwhile with Miz retaining, John Cena wins the Chamber and goes on to face him at Wrestlemania 27. Many ticket buyers will want to pay good money to see John Cena capture the title on the grandest stage of them all. Of course other wrestling fans might prefer a different match, for example seeing John Morrison's impressive moves on display, or seeing Randy Orton finally get some revenge on Miz and regaining the title. It seems Orton is going to collide with CM Punk, and who knows what fate will hit Morrison. Maybe he wins the MITB this year?

So with Cole vs Lawler and Cena vs The Miz as well as a potential Del Rio vs Edge match, will it be enough to attract viewers for Wrestlemania 27? Or will WWE have to rely on the return of The Undertaker, and Justin Bieber singing to get fans interested? It seems as if the WWE has had little time to develop good stories for this upcoming Mania, but let's hope they have some good surprises in store.
