WWE Superstars Results 01/27/11

WWE Superstars Results 01/27/11:

After the pyrotechnics, Jack Korpela welcomed fans to the show just three nights ahead of the biggest Royal Rumble in WWE history. Trent Barreta made his way to the ring for the opening Smackdown match of the show. Korpela grabbed Striker and shook him a bit to ask if he's ready for the Rumble. Striker asked "what are you laughing at wacko?" Tyler Reks arrived out for the main event.

Trent Barreta vs. Tyler Reks

Barreta started the match out strong but was soon overpowered by Reks who took control and had a near fall. Late in the match, Barreta went to the apron for his springboard dropkick. However, Reks was quick to kick Reks off balance causing him to fall on top of the ropes and into the ring. Reks stood Barreta up then hit the Burning Hammer finisher to win it.

Winner: Tyler Reks wins via pinfall over Trent Barreta.

They showed highlights of the Fatal Fourway elimination match from this past Tuesday's NXT episode. It involved Brodus Clay, Derrick Bateman, Johnny Curtis and Byron Saxton. Derrick Bateman was eliminated first, followed by Saxton. Clay's power was able to overwhelm Curtis for the win. With the win, Clay was given the option to trade for a different pro. Clay chose to have Alberto Del Rio as his pro, then used his finisher to slam Ted Dibiase to the mat.

Superstars returned with Scott Stanford reminding fans of WWE.com's Greatest Royal Rumble moments. Fans can vote on whether or not they agree with WWE's picks for the Top 10 at Facebook. Stanford talked about how they are three days away from the big Royal Rumble event in Boston, MA.

Yoshi Tatsu & DH Smith vs. Primo & Zack Ryder

Zack Ryder got on the mic saying they deserve a better introduction than they got. Ryder said they're the two most overlooked superstars in all of the WWE. Ryder said after the win tonight they're going to get some girls who are DZP, "Down for Zack & Primo."

Smith had several near falls, and Primo decided to leave the ring to recover. Primo jumped onto the apron to taunt Smith, but DH ran and booted him off. Ryder went over to check on Primo as Superstars went to commercial.

Later in the match, Ryder and Primo wisely kept working the doubleteam on DH Smith. Smith was able to finally counter Ryder's headlock attempt into a German suplex. Smith and Ryder both crawled over and made tags, with Yoshi coming into the ring on fire. The action eventually broke down with Smith getting into the ring and attempting a powerbomb on Ryder. Primo shoved Smith over the rope causing Ryder and Smith to crash down to the outside. Yoshi went towards Primo. Primo turned around and elbowed Yoshi then hit the Backstabber for the pinfall win.

Winners: Zack Ryder and Primo win via pinfall over Yoshi Tatsu and DH Smith.

Superstars returned with a Did You Know factoid about WWE Smackdown vs Raw video game. A Dolph Ziggler promo video was shown with highlights of the Zig Zag and the Sleeper Hold he uses to finish opponents.

Josh Matthews and Scott Stanford brought up how Ziggler is predicted by many to defeat Edge for the World title at this Sunday's Royal Rumble. They showed the WWE Rumble by the Numbers video. Since 1988, 656 superstars have tried to win the Royal Rumble match, only to be eliminated. Shawn Michaels has the record eliminating the most competitors in his Rumble history. Kane has the record for most eliminations in a single Rumble: 11. The video asked if Kane can beat his own record, he's also entering his record 13th Rumble. Rey Mysterio holds the record for longest time in the Rumble. The video closed out with the official theme song playing as highlights were shown of the various competitors.

Josh Matthews and Scott Stanford discussed how the winner of the Royal Rumble will get a championship match at Wrestlemania 27. Also, Dolph Ziggler takes on Edge for the World Heavyweight Title and The Miz defends the WWE Title against Randy Orton.

R-Truth arrived out performing the "What's Up?" theme song, then asked Detroit, Michigan "What's Up?" before a commercial break.

R-Truth vs. Tyson Kidd

Truth did a split in the ring after some breakdance moves to taunt Kidd, then gained control with a wristlock before Kidd escaped to the corner area.

Just prior to break, Truth hit a huge clothesline to take Kidd and himself out of the ring to the floor. When Superstars returned, Kidd had control in the ring with a headlock on Truth. As the match continued, Stanford gave Matthews some Rumble trivia questions which were already answered in the Rumble by the Numbers video.

Truth started a comeback with a flapjack on Kidd, but it took Truth some moments to get up too. Truth hit multiple clotheslines and then a suplex jawbreaker. Truth had the pinfall, but Kidd grabbed the rope to break it. Things got fast and furious as Kidd did an impressive jump into a rollup pinfall from the apron. Truth reversed it but couldn't capture a pinfall. Truth was able to run back at Kidd and hit the What's Up to finally end the match.

Winner: R-Truth wins via pinfall over Tyson Kidd.
