5 WWE Books for a Fan's Wishlist

Some of the best stories in WWE wrestling aren't the ones we see on TV or Pay Per Views. Instead they are the background stories on the wrestling industry or the wrestlers' lives. There's been some great firsthand accounts from various WWE superstars and personalities released as books. Some of the most recent include Chris Jericho and Batista, with other stars such as Triple H, Mick Foley and Eric Bischoff also releasing their own books. Here's a look at the 5 books you may consider giving to that WWE fan on your holiday shopping list (or asking for on your own wishlist).

1) A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex - Chris Jericho made his recent return to the ring, shortly after he began promoting this book. It's Jericho's no-nonsense look at the wrestling profession complete with his own anecdotal tales. Discusses Y2J's journey from wrestling school in Canada to his time in leagues in Mexico and Japan to his big break in the WCW. Also looks at how he made his way through the ranks alongside stars such as Lance Storm.

2) Batista Unleashed - An inside look at the life of "The Animal" and his trials and tribulations. He grew up in the roughest part of Washington, DC, was trained by Finlay and eventually became a part of Evolution. The book discusses Batista's family life and childhood, his troubles with women, including ex-wives and his daughters and how he became the current WWE superstar he is. Definitely worth reading for Batista fans, it's 320 pages full of insight into his life and wrestling career.

3) Eric Bischoff: Controversy Creates Cash- Bischoff is a guy many love to hate, or hate to love. He's been a bigtime heel in the WWE and WCW, and was the brains behind much of WCW's ratings victories over WWE Raw back in the day. Now in this book, Bischoff talks about all sorts of behind the scenes gossip from a true insider's perspective. Includes his discussion of how Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin made the WCW great and how corporate politics killed WCW. Also reflects on Bischoff's firing from WCW and how he rebounded from it. 400 pages from the man who truly knows how controvery can create cash.

4) Hardcore Diaries - Another brilliant offering from one of the biggest legends in wrestling hardcore, Mick Foley. Foley has played many characters over the years from Dude Love to Mankind to Cactus Jack, and in this 384 book he lets loose. Foley discusses not just the insider world of wrestling but also some of his own unique tales such as his visit with a severely burned child in Afghanistan and his personal obsession with a jolly old elf. Also discusses Foley's relationships with various WWE stars and his favorite divas. A hardcore legend's inside look at the profession, perfect for fanatics.

5) Triple H Making the Game: Triple H's Approach to a Better Body (WWE) - One of the most athletic and chiseled stars in the WWE has always been, Triple H, the Game. While many will speculate his body came as the result of steroids (it's hard not to think so), this book provides fans with a look at what exactly it takes to create a better physique. From eating and diet to workout routines, this tells the tale of a once skinny, 135 pound teenager who has gone on to be larger than life in pro wrestling. Triple H provides readers the routines and guidelines to build a better body.

Batista' Unleashed - October 16th

World Heavyweight champion, Batista has his first official book coming out on October 16th. The hardcover book entitled "Batista Unleashed" is 320 pages and written by Dave Batista along with Jeremy Roberts. It will feature a look at the wrestling superstar's path to the WWE and all the various obstacles he has dealt with along the way.

Here's a bit of the book description courtesy of Amazon.com:

"People around the world know Dave Batista as World Wrestling Entertainment's "the Animal," the rope-shaking, spine-busting World Heavyweight Champion, one of the most popular Superstars in recent years. The crowd turned Batista from heel to babyface after they were electrified by his awesome physique and physical wrestling style.

Few fans, however, know that Batista didn't join the profession until he was thirty years old -- an age at which many wrestlers are thinking about hanging up their boots. Nor do most fans know the tremendous toll the climb to the top has taken on Batista's personal life. While successfully staying away from hard drugs and -- usually -- liquor, he found sex too tempting to resist.

"Women were my drug of choice," the Animal confesses. That addiction cost him his marriage, destroying a relationship that had helped him climb from poverty to the pinnacle of sports entertainment in less than two years.

Now, in Batista Unleashed, the WWE Superstar comes clean about the choices he made and the devastating effects they had on his family. He talks about the injury that stripped him of his title -- an injury he blames on Mark Henry's carelessness. While being sidelined cost Batista untold hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost income, it also set the stage for a tremendous comeback that cemented the Animal's reputation as a true champion."

Sounds like this could be quite an interesting read for fans of the Animal or WWE fanatics in general. Preoders are available now at Amazon for Batista Unleashed.
