RAW Recap 2.26.07
RAW opened with a recap of Mr. McMahon vs Trump's buildup, including Vince's selection of Umaga. It was announced that Trump will pick his representative on tonight's RAW.
John Cena & HBK vs. Randy Orton/Edge (Rated RKO) - World Tag Team Title match - Orton and Edge appeared up on the Titantron. Orton said there was a misunderstanding because they're not quite ready to compete. Orton said to hold on and they will be ready to compete later. Orton told HBK he is the best actor he's seen so he shoulda won an Oscar. Orton told Cena to watch his back because HBK is a liar. Orton then said to roll footage of HBK with his various partners or friends. The video showed Michaels kick down his former partner Marty Jannety of the Rockers, Diesel, XPac, Booker T from NWO and Hulk Hogan. After the video Cena turned to look at Michaels. Edge continued to say how HBk is a liar saying he has Cena's back. Edge chuckled and said theyd see them later tonight.
Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin - Money in the Bank Qualifying Match - Early on Benjamin with several take down moves and attempted pins. Outside the ring Jeff Hardy able to run off the audience barrier and jump on top of Shelton. Hardy then tossed Benjamin back into the ring. Hardy and Benjamin fought in the corners. Jeff able to land a backflip onto Benjamin off the ropes. Hardy with an attempted Swanton Bomb, but Benjamin able to run and suplex him off the ropes. Hardy flew down and rolled out of the ring. Both men lay scattered as RAW hit commercial.
Back from break and Shelton had a sleeper style hold locked on Jeff Hardy down on the mat. Hardy able to get to his feet and perform a jawbreaker on Shelton. Shelton fell down and hardy ran off ropes several times clotheslining Shelton. Shelton went for a move off the ropes but lost his footing/slipped. Hardy for a quick pin, but only a 2. Hardy then able to capitalize and use a twist of fate and swanton bomb on Benjamin. Hardy with a pinfall victory. Jeff Hardy on his way to Wrestlemania 23's Money in the Bank ladder match!
Vince appeared on the Titantron as a victorious Jeff Hardy walked up the ramp. Vince said congratulations Jeff you won this match but lost your title last week to my man, Umaga. Vince showed off the various hairstyles Trump might have after Wrestlemania. Vince told Trump he had two words for him "Before, After", as Vince pointed to his hair then a bald picture of Trump.
Melina seen backstage with Johnny Nitro. Melina complaining about all the attention Ashley is getting for Playboy, and Mick Foley is getting for his new book, as well as her upcoming matches with Maria and Mickie James. Nitro told Melina to just shut up. He said he lost his opportunity to be at Wrestlemania and she doesnt understand how important that is.
Johnny Nitro vs Super Crazy - As Super Crazy came down the ramp, Nitro ran at him then dropkicked him as he tried to enter the ring. Nitro dominated Super outside the ring by throwing him into the steel steps and slamming him face down. Nitro then walked off and up the ramp, without the match ever taking place. Nitro smiled looking on as officials attended to SuperCrazy.
Maria vs Melina - Early on Maria threw Melina to the ropes and tried to dropkick her but Melina stayed against the ropes, leaving Maria to fall flat on her back. From there Melina began to dominate the match, toying with Maria by choking her, pulling her hair and beating her up in the corner. Maria able to take control of the match and bulldog Melina down onto the mat but Melina kicked out before 3. Maria threw Melina to the corner then clotheslined her. Maria prepared for the Bronco Buster as Melina sat in the corner. Maria ran to jump on Melina, but Melina kicked Maria before she could. Melina scored the pin and victory.
Vince strutted down the ramp to the ring with a big smile on his face. Vince began to hype the Battle of the Billionaires match for Wrestlemania 23. Vince had them show a replay of the beatdown Rey Mysterio received at the hands of Umaga on Smackdown. Vince then had Umaga come out to the ring along with Alejandra Estrada carrying the Intercontinental championship belt. Vince then began to talk trash about Trump, and how he always tries to outdo everyone. Vince said Trump will not do better than him at Wrestlemania. Trump appeared on the Titantron and said he was going to have someone tame Umaga at Wrestlemania23. Trump introduced his representative Bobby Lashley. Lashley proceeded down to the ring. Lashley entered the ring and he and Umaga stared each other down. Mr McMahon hit Lashley. Lashley and Umaga began to grapple with one another. The melee landed them outside of the ring fighting near the announcer's table. Lashley was down and tangled in wires as Umaga stood up. WWE security intervened but Lashley able to jump off the apron onto Umaga again. Raw went to commercial as the two continued to fight and security tried to seperate them.
Chris Masters Masterlock Challenge - The Great Khali came down the ramp pointing to masters. Khali sat in the steel chair in the ring ans Masters went to put his hold on Khali. Masters unable to put his hold on the Great Khali after several tries, because Khali's wingspan was too big. Masters visibly frustrated as Khali stood up with his arms raised. Just then an explosion went off as Kane came down the ramp. Kane entered the ring as Khali shoved Masters into Kane. kane chokeslammed Masters down to the mat. Khali picked up the steel chair and went to hit Kane, but Kane kicked the chair. Kane then with a boot to Khali's face and several clotheslines until he knocked Khali out of the ring. Kane then smashed the chair down on Master's head as he stood up. Khali stood up outside the ring looking in at Kane as Kane's fire exploded from the corners of the ring.
Vince shown backstage irate as he talked to Johnathan Coachman about Lashley coming down to his ring and attacking Umaga like that. Vince received a call from the chair people of the board asking Vince to have a special guest referee for the Wrestlemania match.
Lillian Garcia announced the third inductee for this year's Hall of Fame class was Jerry the King lawler. A montage of Lawler matches and highlights was then shown, including his AWA and WWF/WWE moments.
Carliton (w/Torrie Wilson) vs. Kenny Dykstra - Kenny dominated by Carlito early as Carlito flew off the ropes onto Kenny. Carlito with an early pin but only a 2 count. Carlito continued to try to fly off the ropes, but this time Kenny moved causing Carlito to miss and land on his stomach. Kenny then started to assault Carlito, hammering and kicking Carlito in the abdomen. Dykstra with a arm hold keeping Carlito down and punching him in the stomach. Carlito able to get to his feet and punch Kenny at his stomach. As Carlito ran off the ropes Kenny kneed Carlito in the stomach. Kenny able to apply an abdominal stretch to Carlito as Torrie Wilson encouraged the crowd to cheer Carlito on. Carlito able to regain control and run off the ropes to clothesline and kick Kenny down. Both men able to attempt pins but only resulted in 2 counts. Carlito finally able to score a winning pinfall. As Torrie and Carlito celebrated in the ring, Ric Flair walked onto the ramp applauding Carlito's victory.
Vince backstage with Coach. Vince said he plans to stop by ECW tomorrow night and make Lashley's night a living hell.
Main Event - John Cena & Shawn Michaels vs. Rated RKO - Tag team title match - Shawn Michaels grappled with Edge to start off the match. Michaels with several early chops to Edge's chest. Edge able to tag in Orton. HBK able to injur Orton's one leg then tag in cena who took advantage with a barrage of slams, suplexes and other moves. Orton eventually able to kick Cena who was crouched down in the ring, then dropkick his back. Eventually Cena able to tag in HBK. With HBK in the ring, he and Cena cleared the ring of Edge. Cena looked out at Edge laying outside the ring. HBk prepared his superkick. As Orton stood up HBk went for the kick, but Orton ducked as Cena turned around. Cena able to catch HBK's leg in the air before he could land the kick. Cena and HBK stared at each other as RAW went to break.
Back from commercial, Edge and orton able to double team Shawn Michaels. With Orton in the ring he began to stomp on Shawn Michaels many times. HBK got up to his feet and began to punch away at Orton, but Orton able to knock him back down. Orton tagged in Edge. Eventually HBK able to tag in Cena. Cena cleared Edge out of the ring and then landed a You Cant See Me 5 Knuckle Shuffle on Orton. Cena picked up Orton for the F-U, but Cena was too close to the ropes and Edge grabbed Orton's arms. Cena swung Orton back and accidentally knocked the ref out. From there all hell broke loose as Michaels clotheslined Orton out of the ring. HBK followed Orton out. Edge still in ring waited for Cena to get up and ran at him with a spear attempt. Cena able to duck the move and F-U Edge. Orton re-entered the ring and went to attack Cena, but HBk came in behind him with the WWE championship belt. HBK hit Edge with the title belt then tossed it over to Randy Orton. Orton stood there with the belt in his hands as Edge saw him holding it. Edge looked surprised that Orton betrayed him, so Edge left the ring, leaving Orton alone to battle HBK & Cena. HBK kicked Orton and then Cena able to F-U him for the pinfall victory as the ref regained consciousness. As RAW ended Michaels and Cena celebrated with Cena keeping a cautious eye on HBK.
