RAW Recap 03.05.07

Raw Recap from 03.05.07:

Michaels and Cena talked backstage about how HBK has doublecrossed or stabbed his previous partners in the back. Cena told HBK he's his tag team partner and friend and he has his back. Michaels then told Cena he doesn't want or need Cena's help. HBK exited for his match with Randy Orton.

Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton - Early on Michaels had the advantage with Edge looking on from outside the ring. Michaels with a flurry of chops to Orton's chest and midsection as well as slams and kicks to the face. As Michaels tossed Orton into the corner and ran at him, Orton stuck his foot up and hit Michaels square in the jaw. Orton then able to knock Michaels out of the ring as Edge began to distract the ref. Orton rolled out of the ring to go after HBK as RAW hit commercial.

Back from break with both combatants in ring, Orton able to slap a Boston Crab style submission on HBK center of ring. Orton held the hold tight with Michaels desperately grabbing for the side ropes. HBK able to finally get the bottom rope with his hand, causing the ref to break the hold. HBK able to slap a sleeper hold on Orton momentarily. HBK slid out of the ring to go after Edge, but decided to try to re-enter the ring. Orton then suplexed HBK down face first off the ropes, giving Orton the upperhand again. Orton attempted a few pinfalls but only received 2 counts. Orton with a submission hold on HBK, but HBK able to get to his feet and drop back Orton with a suplex. Both men then lay on the mat as ref counted them. Michaels and Orton able to recover as HBK knocked Orton down, then did a flying elbow drop off the top ropes. HBK prepared for sweet chin music. As HBK went to kick Orton, Orton caught HBK's foot and tried to RKO him. Michaels shoved Orton away but Orton knocked into the ref and knocked the ref out momentarily. Edge threw the tag belt in to Orton to use on HBK, but the ref turned to see Orton holding it. Orton tried to tell the ref he hadn't used it. Michaels then rolled up Orton for a pinfall victory!

Orton then able to knock HBK down in the ring and summoned Edge in. Edge brought a chair in, and Orton RKO'd Michaels face first onto the chair. As Edge and orton prepared to beat down HBK, John Cena ran down the ramp and into the ring, causing RKO to flee the ring, up the ramp. Cena helped the fallen HBK.

Vince seen backstage talking to Alejandro Estrada, asking him what kinda mood Umaga is in and what he's gonna do to Jeff Hardy tonight. Alejandro told Vince he has nothing to worry about and left. Coach then started telling Vince he looked a bit stressed tonight. Vince explained to Coach that the Board of Directors do exactly what Vince tells them to, and in all likelihood they will take Vince's suggestion. Vince told Coach he told them the guest referee for the Battle of the Billionaires should be someone like his son, Shane McMahon. Coach told Vince he is a genius.

Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga (Intercontinental Title match) - early on Hardy able to knock Umaga out of the ring and take it to him outside the ring. As Umaga and Hardy got back into the ring, Umaga able to clothesline Jeff down Hardy leaving him knocked down on the mat. Umaga then dragged Jeff under the ropes, and dropped off the ropes onto him. Hardy able to gain a bit of momentum and did a jawdropper on Umaga, but Umaga able to jab a thumb in Hardy's throat then clothesline him down. Umaga hung Hardy upside down in the corner and started to kick him. Umaga ran from the side corner and jumped head first into Hardy, knocking him down. Umaga then sat Hardy up in the corner ropes, and ran at him full speed. Umaga smashed into Jeff snapping Jeff's neck back like whiplash. Umaga picked up Hardy and jammed his thumb into Hardy's throat, knocking him down. Umaga then with a pinfall victory to retain his IC title.

Recaps were shown of the Battle of the Billionaires buildup and hype, with Trump introducing Lashley as his representative. Then it was shown how Lashley attacked Umaga on RAW, and how Umaga came to Lashley's steel cage match on ECW. Lashley jumped through the side cage wall landing on Umaga. It was then shown how Lashley went out on Smackdown to confront Vince and Vince offered Lashley money. Lashley turned down the offer and Vince slapped him.

Todd Grisham backstage interviewing Carlito and Ric Flair. Todd asked Ric about how he got into Carlito's grill a few weeks ago and since that Carlito has been on a win streak. Todd mentioned that the 2 wrestlers will face off tonight for the final "Money in the Bank" match spot. Flair said he expects to win tonight and go on to win the World Championship for the 17th time. Carlito said tonight he will do everything necessary to win the match and compete for the World Title. Flair said he will beat Carlito tonight, because he can.

Vince backstage again with Coach, and he mentioned to Coach how he and Trump resemble each other. The camera cut to a shot of Trump, bald , hanging on the wall.

Chris Masters Masterlock Challenge - Hacksaw Jim Duggan came down to the ring for the Masterlock challenge. Masters slapped the hold on Hacksaw.

Backstage Michaels confronted Cena for coming down during his match against Orton. HBK told Cena he still has his back tonight later in his match with Edge. Cena told Michaels "No Thanks".

Vince came out to the ramp where a barbershop was set up. Vince picked up some scissors and the hand mirror to check his hair out. Vince then strutted down to the ring. Vince told Trump he plans to do the same thing to him that he did to Lashley last week on Smackdown, and give him a Billionaire "B*tchslap". Vince said the contract signing will be next week in Washington, DC. Just then, Eric Bischoff's music came on as Bischoff came down the ramp and into the ring. Bischoff told Vince he's from the hometown of Phoenix. Bischoff told Vince he's had a lot of free time on his hands since Vince shoved him into a garbage truck. Bischoff said he just wanted to stop by and tell Vince and the fans how great it will be to see Trump shave Vince bald. Bischoff then exited. Vince said it was now time to announce the special referee. To everyone's surprise, Mick Foley came down the ramp in a referee uniform. Vince told Mick he was going to have to thank the Board for their great choice. Vince asked Mick to let bygones be bygones. Mick said for starters Vince can give him his old job back and also let him come on WWE to promote his new book, "The Hardcore Diaries". Mick also asked for his large room service bill to be taken care of. Vince said fine and asked Mick to give him a favor in return. Vince then announced Mick as the guest referee for the match. Mick told Mr. McMahon to wait because he's not the guest ref for the Billionaire match, but instead for a rib eating contest at a local Phoenix restaraunt between Charles Barkley and the NBA Suns Gorilla. Vince kicked Mick out of the ring, and then Shane came down the ramp. Shane came into the ring and told Vince they lost the vote with the board. Vince asked Shane if he's not the guest ref, then who will be? Vince demanded Shane tell him. Shane whispered it to Vince. Just then Stone Cold Steve Austin's music hit the speakers and the Rattlesnake came walking down the ramp to the ring. Stone cold posed for the crowd and then someone threw him several beers. Stone Cold continued to smash beers high above his head and drink them down. As Vince left the ring with Shane, Stone Cold stopped Vince on the apron. Stone Cold sprayed a beer all over Vince's face and fancy suit, leaving Vince disgusted.

Backstage Ron Simmons looked on as The Phoenix Suns Gorilla and Mick Foley exited the arena. Ron Simmons then exclaimed "DAMN!"

Mickie James vs Melina (Womens Title Match, falls count anywhere) - Special guest ring announcer was Ashley Massaro who will be gracing the cover of next week's Playboy. Melina and Mickie didnt waste any time. As Melina went to enter the ring, Mickie quickly dropkicked her out of the ring and the 2 fought outside the ring. Mickie went for a quick pin but only for 2. Melina then was able to escape up the ramp and backstage. The 2 girls fought through backstage area. Eventually Mickie and Melina spilled into the Divas locker room. Victoria tried to hold Mickie for Melina, but Torrie then grabbed hairspray and sprayed it in Victoria's eyes. Just then Candice Michelle came out of the shower in a towel and told the two girls to get outta there. Melina pushed Mickie away and then tore the towel off Candice. The camera then went black as screams and fight noises continued to sound as RAW hit break.

Back from break, the 2 girls spilled out onto the ramp with them rolling over one another down the ramp. Back into the ring Melina gained the upperhand briefly. Mickie was able to get up on the top corner ropes with Melina. Mickie went for a Hurricanrana but slipped and fell onto the mat on her head. Melina jumped down from the ropes and covered Mickie for the victory. Luckily, Mickie was unharmed. Outside the ring, Melina walked up to Ashley who was holding her title. Melina ripped the title out of Ashley's hands and began to talk trash to her. Ashley then shoved Melina onto her butt. Ashley ripped off her cap and threw it at Melina. Ashley then went in the ring to help Mickie James back to her feet. As Melina left up the ramp she and Ashley stared each other down.

Carlito vs Ric Flair - Final Money in the Bank Qualifying Match - The final spot for the Wrestlemania Money in the Bank Ladder Match to be decided. As Flair and Carlito battled back and forth, suddenly The Great Khali emerged from backstage and walked down the ramp to the ring. Khali went to enter the ring and Flair began to chop at him. Khali shoved Flair back, way into the corner. Khali then kicked Carlito in the face, and tossed him over the ropes. Torrie Wilson rushed to check on Carlito. Khali then slammed Ric Flair down from high above his head. Flair layed on the mat decimated, with Carlito knocked out outside the ring. Khali grabbed a mic and yelled "I Want KANE!", then left up the ramp. There was no winner for the final spot in the Money in the Bank Qualifying Match decided.

It was announced that Stone Cold Steve Austin will appear on tomorrow night's ECW on Sci Fi at 10PM ET.

Nick Bockwinkel, was announced as latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. Bockwinkel was an AWA champion wrestler.

Backstage Orton told Edge he couldn't make it out for tonights match Edge had with Cena. Orton then told Edge he doesnt have his back now. Cena was shown walking backstage towards the ramp for his match.

Main event: John Cena vs. Edge - With Cena already in the ring, Melina came out with Mercury and Nitro who then went to the side of the ring. As Edge came down to ringside he went over to stand with MNM. Edge grabbed the mic and told the crowd that they were biggots for not celebrating MLK Jr. day. Edge told the crowd because he's color-blind he won't be able to wrestle tonight, but Johnny Nitro's great grandmother is black, so Nitro will be happy to compete instead. As Cena looked on, Joey Mercury ran in to distract Cena, and Nitro began to take control of the match. Nitro battled Cena for a while until Cena managed to regain control. With the match in hand, Mercury and Edge then entered the ring, forcing a DQ, giving Cena the victory. MNM then performed their finisher move on Cena smashing him face first into the mat. As the 3 started to beatdown Cena in the ring, the DX music then blasted over the speakers and HBK walked down the ramp looking into the ring. Edge took off out of the ring and into the crowd. HBK looked on at MNM who stood staring at him with Cena layed out.
HBK turned around and began to walk back up the ramp with the crowd booing him. Then Michaels stopped for a moment, turned around and ran down the ramp into the ring. HBK began to punch down both members of MNM then cleared the ring of them. Cena finally got to his feet to see HBK leaving up the ramp with his back to Cena.
