WWE RAW Recap 3.26.07


A recap of Monday Night RAW, 3.26.07, from Chicago, IL:

RAW kicked off with Coach in ring saying he received word earlier today that the Bobby Lashley vs Vince McMahon had been changed and would now be a "No disqualification" match and that any interference would result in an automatic suspension and fine. As Coach was preparing to leave the ring, Stone Cold Steve Austin bust out of the backstage area and came down to the ring. Austin said this past weekend that a delivery truck brought him present after present and that they were all from Donald Trump. Austin said it seems he was being bought off, so he told the delivery man to bring all the items back to New York City. Austin said the deliveryman told him the gifts came from Stamford, CT, and the deliveryman eventually said the presents were sent by Mr. McMahon. Austin asked Coach if they think he's stupid and Coach so nobody thinks that. Austin said that almost sounds like grounds for disqualification and said he would go backstage and drag Vince down to the ring to shave him bald. Coach stopped Austin saying that it was Coach who sent the gifts because its been a long week. Coach said he was sorry to Austin. Austin explained to Coach that at Wrestlemania he is not the one to mess with inside the ring, and that he will call the match down the middle. Austin told Coach not to mess with him inside the ring. As Austin was preparing to leave, Coach stopped him saying he didnt understand why Trump and McMahon were so upset at the idea of having to lose their hair, because Austin has no hair and "bald is beautiful". Austin pretended to laugh for a moment, then hit Coach with the Stone Cold Stunner, sending him down to the mat. Austin then celebrated with a bunch of beers and poured beer on Coach who was layed out in the ring.

Backstage Austin was seen getting into his pickup truck and started to drive up an exit ramp. Austin's truck came to a stop as a limo came face to face with his truck. One of the vehicles began beeping at the other. As the limo pulled alongside Austin's pickup truck, Mr McMahon popped up from the sunroof and yelled "who the hell do you think you are" and then realized it was Austin in the pickup. McMahon tried to apologize for things but Austin gave Vince the finger and then drove away. Vince then yelled at his driver to unlock his door. Vince got out and went up to pull the driver out of the car. Vince then threw the driver into the side of the limo and then down to the concrete and yelled at him "You're fired!".

Melina, Victoria & Jillian vs. Ashley, Torrie Wilson & Candice Michelle - The three Playboy cover girls faced off against Melina, Victoria and Jillian. Melina and Ashley started in the ring, but Melina slapped Ashley then rolled out of the ring. Candice and Torrie then grabbed Melina nd threw her back into the ring. In ring, Candice was tagged in as was Victoria. Candice got kicked in the back when trying to go off the ropes, allowing Melina and her partners to take control. Melina snapped Candice into the ropes, allowing Jillian to begin assaulting Candice. Jillian went for a backflip onto a fallen Candice, who rolled away, causing Jillian to miss. Candice able to tag in Ashley who began to attack and clothesline Jillian. As Ashley went against the ropes, Melina tried to interfere. Ashley threw Melina over the ropes into the ring then jumped onto her, punching away at Melina. Melina was then knocked out of the ring, as was Victoria. Candice and Torrie fought with their opponents outside of the ring as Ashley climbed the top ropes. Ashley was able to then jump off the top ropes for a pinfall on Jillian, giving the Playboy cover girls the victory.

CM Punk vs. Kenny Dykstra - CM slid into the ring to an awaiting Kenny who started to hammer away at him, but CM was able to reverse things off the ropes for a backbreaker and then pinfall attempt. Kenny whipped Punk into the corner and Punk tried to jump on the ropes but Kenny kicked Punk in the legs, then went for a pin of his own. With Kenny in control he started to punch away at Punk and clothesline him for pin attempts. Dykstra with several moves and pinfall attempts as the crowd chanted "CM Punk", who is a hometown hero in Chicago. As Dykstra held Punk in a move on the mat, Punk got to his feet and was able to start elbowing his way out. Punk abled to then repeatedly knock Kenny down with a dropkick and elbows to the chest. Punk then whippedKenny into a corner and ran at him. Kenny tried to toss Punk over the ropes, but Punk landed on the apron then kicked Kenny and got back in the ring. Punk with a face first bulldog on Kenny and then a pinfall attempt, only resulting in a 2 count. Punk fought back after being thrown into the bottom rope by Kenny, and was able to get an impressive knee to the jaw to finish off Kenny with a 3 count pinfall.

Backstage Edge was seen on the Titantron clapping and told Punk his win was very impressive, but Punk wont be winning at Wrestlemania's Ladder Match though. Edge told Punk he would have a chance to respond on a very special 8 man interview on "The Cutting Edge" coming up next.

In ring, were 7 of the 8 competitors for the Wrestlemania Money in the Bank Ladder match, who stood with a ladder set up and a briefcase hanging above the ring. Edge then entered the arena and came down into the ring with mic in hand. Edge informed the men he has won more ladder matches then all of them combined and that he's never lost a Wrestlemania match. Edge told Matt Hardy he was surprised to even see him at a Wrestlemania. Hardy told Edge he would lay him out flat on his back, much like Edge's ex-girlfriend. Edge took the mic back and asked Booker to say something intelligent. Booker said nobody in the ring has reigned successfully like King Booker. Booker kept trying to talk until Finlay grabbed the mic and said he was sick of the verbal diahrrea. Finlay told Edge if he didnt like it, to do something about it. Just then Orton grabbed the mic and said not to hurt Edge's feelings, because it might make Edge back out of this match like he's been doing for the last several weeks. Edge snatched the mic back from Orton. Mr Kennedy grabbed the mic saying he would be victorious and began to exclaim "Mr Kennedy", until Edge took the mic again. Edge tried to taunt Jeff Hardy. Hardy said this is his first Wrestlemania in 5 years and he's ready to steal the show. Edge said last but not least is Chicago's own, CM Punk, Edge and Punk bantered at each other, until Edge shoved Punk down, setting off a battle in ring amongst the 8 men. As men were cleared from the ring, CM Punk and the Hardy's were left standing. The 3 looked out of the ring to see Edge who had backed up the ramp. Hardys and CM Punk then chased Edge backstage as RAW went to commercial break.

Maria backstage interviewed WWE Champ John Cena. Maria asked John what will happen when he has to face HBK at Wrestlemania this Sunday. John Cena said everyone will be there this weekend, giants, big red machines, playboy bunnies, wolverines and Michael Cole. Cena said someone will be shaved bald like a baby's ass. Cena said just when you think you've seen it all, the dust is gonna settle and the smoke will clear, with Cena and HBK facing off for the WWE title. Cena said when its all over, one man will raise his arm with the title saying "The champ is here!".

A recap was shown of the events between Lashley and Vince McMahon which led up to tonight's big no-DQ match between the two men. Footage was shown of McMahon trying to buy off Lashley and then slapping him in the ring as Lashley angrily started at the WWE Chairman.

Vince McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley (No Disqualification Match) - Early on the ref seperated the 2 men before the bell, so Vince grabbed the mic sand told Lashley tonight he would embarass Lashley tonight by pinning him 1-2-3. Vince said to ring the bell as he rolled out of the ring. Down ran Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch who went to doubleteam Lashley. Lashley was able to battle back and toss the men out of the ring. Chris Masters then ran down to the ring, and assaulted Lashley. Masters went for a Masterlock but Lashley reversed and tossed Masers out. Johnny Nitro ran into the ring to attack Lashley, but was also overcome as Lashley slammed down Nitro and got rid of him from the ring. Then Vince signaled for Umaga to come down the ramp and itno the ring. The 2 men began to punch at each other back and forth in the ring with Estrada on the apron. Vince then got in the ring and was able to land a low blow on Lashley from behind, allowing Umaga to slam Lashley back, knocking him out. Vince then capitalized with a cheap pinfall victory. Vince instructed Umaga to dismantle Lashley, so Umaga jumped off the ropes and headbutted Lashley, then sat him in the corner of the ring and ran at him twice, hitting him hard with a hip to the face. Lashley's face snapped back twice, and then Umaga picked him up center of the ring to jab a "Samoan Spike" thumb to Lashley. Vince then scored another pinfall victory and demanded they ring the bell and Lillian announce him as victor again. Vince stood in the ring with his arms raised in victory, then he taunted Lashley who layed on his back in the ring. Vince instructed Umaga to do another Samoan Spike on Lashley. Vince then celebrated in ring with Estrada and Umaga, as Lashley was left laying there dismantled from the vicious attack.

Backstage, Vince walked up to Todd Grisham who congratulated Vince on his victory but called it "controversial". Vince said he delivered on his promise to pin Lashley, but that at Wrestlemania Umaga would beat him and then Vince would shave Trump bald. Vince said "lets ask Donald Trump himself" and over came Eugene with a fake Trump wig on his head. Vince said anyone who believes Trump will win this Sundays match must be clinically insane, as Vince ripped the wig off Eugene's head. Vince got in his limo to depart the arena.

Mr. Kennedy & Randy Orton vs. Matt & Jeff Hardy - A tune up match for this Sunday's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Matt Hardy battled Orton early on and had an attempted pinfall, then tagged in his brother, who also attempted to pin orton early. Orton able to regain control and tag in Mr Kennedy who began to punch away at Jeff in the corner of the ring, then started kicking him in the back. Kennedy whipped Jeff into the reverse corner and ran at him but Jeff jumped up. Kennedy caught Hardy's legs but Jeff able to get his legs around Kennedy's neck and throw him to the mat. Kennedy got up and was able to toss Jeff Hardy out of the ring, where Randy Orton began beating Jeff as the ref's attention was turned. Back in ring, Mr. Kennedy attacking Jeff and placed him seated up on the top corner ropes. Kennedy went up to continue the attack, but Jeff pushed Hardy back and down to the mat. Jeff then flipped off the ropes to knock down Kennedy. Kennedy and Jeff both able to recover and tag their partners. Matt Hardy then came in the ring and began taking it to both his opponents. Hardy with a sidewalk slam on each man, then attempted to pin Orton, but only got the 2 count. As Kennedy and Orton tried to doubleteam Matt, Jeff came back into the ring to help his brother. As Jeff and Matt began to run and fly at their opponents, Jeff went to land a leg to the face of Kennedy in the corner but missed. Matt Hardy tried to get a twist of fate on Mr. Kennedy who was able to escape it by shoving Hardy over into Orton. Orton then landed the RKO on Matt Hardy and scored a 3 count pinfall victory. Mr Kennedy and Randy Orton win the match prior to their battle at Wrestlemania.

The latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame was shown, Jim "JR" Ross, WWE announcer for many years. Highlight reels shown of Jim Ross calling matches and various wrestlers discussing how Ross is like the "John Madden" of wrestling announcers with catch phrases and his "from the heart" style of announcing. A crowd ovation followed as Ross stood to salute them. Just then, the Great Khali entered the arena for his match.

RicFlair vs. The Great Khali - Khali quickly began to dismantle Flair and brought him outside the ring. Khali moved part of the steel steps to try to slam Flair on them, but just then Carlito ran down to the ring for the save. Carlito tried to attack Khali, but Khali grabbed him and brought him into the ring. Khali then picked up carlito high off the mat and slammed him down. As Khali raised his arms in the ring, an explosion was heard as Kane walked down the ramp to the ring carrying a chain with a sickel hook attached to the end of it. Kane got into the ring and began to attack Khali. The 2 men fought back and forth until Kane was able to clear the ring of Khali and threw the chain and hook down in his direction. Khali retreated through the crowd as Kane looked on at him from in the ring and the ring posts erupted in explosive fireworks.

A behind the scenes look was show for "The Condemned", the new Stone Cold Steve Austin action movie which hits theaters April 23.

Shawn Michaels backstage hyped up his matchup with John Cena at Wrestlemania and said he will be walking out as the WWE Champ, but not to worry because tonight, he's got Cena's back in their match.

John Cena & Shawn Michaels vs. Batista & Undertaker (Main Event) - Undertaker started off taking it to Cena throwing him into both corners, but Cena able to land an elbow on Taker and fight back. With taker in the corner, Cena punching away at him, but Taker able to escape and went off the ropes to go at Cena with his boot. Cena ducked and rolled away then was able to get Taker up on his shoulders for an "F U". Taker slid off Cena's shoulder and then slapped a chokehold on Cena, but HBK able to get into the ring and hit taker from behind. Batista got involved as well and then the ring was cleared of Cena and HBK, leaving Taker facing Batista. As the two prepared to battle one another, Cena got back in the ring to attack Taker. Cena clotheslined Taker out of the ring and HBK was able to toss Taker into the steel steps outside the ring, injuring his hip.

Later back in the ring, Taker was facing Cena and had him up on his shoulders for a slam. As Taker backed up near Batista, Batista made a tag by hitting Taker's back. Batista came into the match and started to assault Cena. All 4 men back in the ring battling. Batista able to slam Cena down. Batista then went to Batista Bomb Cena, as Undertaker held HBK up for a bodyslam above his head. Taker turned with HBK and tossed him at Batista, leaving all 3 men crashing down in a heap. Taker then looked at Batista and left the ring, leaving Batista to fend for himself vs Cena and Michaels.

Cena and HBK then began to work together on Batista, as both men went against opposite ropes and landed a double "5 Knuckle Shuffle" on Batista who was laying on his back, center of the ring. Cena then had his back to HBK and as he turned, Michaels was able to land a surprising Sweet Chin Music superkick to John Cena's face, laying him out in the ring. Batista realized what had happened and crawled over to pin Cena. Batista and Undertaker won the match via pinfall, despite both tag teams feuding internally. HBK then stood over Cena and did the DX crotch chop several times, then exited the ring. As RAW went off the air, JR said this Sunday they would finally find out if DX's Shawn Michaels can win the title off John Cena at Wrestlemania 23.
