RAW Recap 06.18.07


Recap of Monday Night RAW 6.18.07:

Live from Richmond, VA, on the wake of last week's explosion, presumed death of Chairman Vince McMahon and the Supplemental Draft.

Raw started off with footage of Ed Kaufman's press release on behalf of the McMahon family, fans paying respects by leaving memorial items at WWE HQ, as well as interviews from people who witnessed the explosion. The footage ended with Kaufman saying the show will go on.

Mick Foley in ring to start off RAW saying he said some things last week which now seem inappropriate. Mick said thanks to Vince he went on to become one of the great successes in WWE history. Mick then apologized to the McMahon family during their time of bereavement. Just then Randy Orton came down to the ring, interrupting Mick's speech. Orton asked Mick if he thinks it's that easy to make up for what he said last week and the book Mick wrote which insulted Vince. Orton then said Mick seems to have quite a bit of motivation to be involved in the death of Vince. Just then, King Booker came down the ramp to the ring. Booker said he has 1st hand knowledge that a federal investigator is in the building and spoke to Lashley for a good hour tonight. Booker mentioned that Lashley was stripped of his ECW title, and that he also was a former army ranger with knowledge of weapons/explosions. Lashley came down the ramp and into the ring next. Booker rolled out of the ring as did Orton. As Lashley and Mick Foley remained,

John Cena's music came on and the champ came down to the ring with his belt. Cena said he's been asking himself "what really happened to Mr. McMahon?" Cena mentioned that Vince had a lot of enemies over the course of his lifetime, not just WWE superstars. Cena said there is a federal investigator there who will handle things and so they all need to get on with things and participate in RAW tonight instead of accuse wrestlers. Johnathan Coachman then came onto the ramp, announcing that the men down at the ring area will be competing in the WWE Championship challenge at Vengeance. Coach said the McMahon family has put him in charge, so he will make tonight's RAW main event in Mr. McMahon's honor. Coach said Randy Orton and Booker will team up to face Lashley and Cena tonight. Coach then addressed Mick Foley's book which trashed Mr. McMahon's image, and told Mick he would be wrestling tonight against Umaga.

Announced that next Monday, RAW will be a special 3 hour show including all Raw, Smackdown and ECW superstars. The show will involve the investigation into Mr. McMahon's limo explosion/death. RAW will start at 8PM EST on USA.

Kendrick & London vs. World's Greatest Tag Team - Kendrick & London made their Raw debut after being the top pick in yesterday's WWE Supplemental Draft. Haas used his strength early to keep London in the opposite corner. With the ref distracted, Shelton Benjamin was able to kick London in the face. Haas and Benjamin continued to use doubleteaming to keep London away from the tag. London finally escaped after kicking Benjamin away from him. Kendrick came in and used his speed to attack Haas & Benjamin off the ropes. All 4 men got into the ring, and Shelton tried to Powerbomb London over the ropes. London was able to use a leg scissor to flip himself and Benjamin over the ropes and out of the ring. With Kendrick in the ring alone against Haas, he was able to escape a Haas move, then grab Haas and do a running move off the corner ropes with him. Kendrick then scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Kendrick & London win via pinfall.

Daniel Beck, lead federal investigator was shown talking to Coach in an office backstage. Beck was taking notes with regards to the McMahon investigation.

Official Theme song for WWE's Vengeance is "Gone" by Fuel, available on their new album on Augusth 7th.

Carlito came down to the ring and told the crowd everyone knows he is cool, but in the wrestling industry, nobody was cooler than Vince McMahon. Carlito extended his condolences to the McMahon family. Carlito said since the show must be go on, he wanted to discuss the WWE draft. Carlito said there were 2 big winners in last week's draft, Ric Flair and Torrie Wilson. Carlito said Torrie left with a broken heart and Flair left being beaten all around the ring by Carlito. Just then ECW Original, The Sandman's music came on. Sandman made his way down the steps through the crowd and then drank a beer near the front row. Sandman entered the ring with his Singapore Cane. Carlito taunted Sandman who then swung his stick at Carlito. Carlito rolled out of the ring as Sandman pointed his stick at him. Sandman was bleeding on the forehead from smashing his own beer can on his head.

Cryme Tyme was backstage and gave their thoughts on Mr. McMahon as a philanthropist and money maker. They said above all Mr. McMahon was a capitalist. Cryme Tyme then did an infomercial for Mr. McMahon memorabilia available at Auction.WWE.com. Federal investigator Daniel Beck then came up to Cryme Tyme and said he needed to ask them some questions and had them follow him out.

Daivari vs. Jeff Hardy - Cade & Murdoch watched the match from ringside. Jim Ross announced that The Hardys will compete for the World Tag Team titles against Cade & Murdoch at Vengeance. Daivari made his Raw debut against Jeff Hardy. Hardy took early control of the match and went up to the corner ropes. Daivari able to knock Jeff off the ropes and then start beating on him. Daivari kept momentum for a while, using submission holds to keep Jeff down on the mat. Jeff able to eventually turn the tide and clothesline Daivari when he came off the ropes. Jeff used a Whisper in the Wind after Daivari threw Jeff to the corner. Jeff went for several pinfalls but all were 2 counts. Daivari with a brief comeback. Hardy able to win the match when he used a neckbreaker move to knock Daivari down followed by a Swanton Bomb. Cade & Murdoch grabbed the microphone as Jeff was celebrating his victory. They told Jeff that the Hardy's showed poor sportsmanship so they had to respond on behalf of their fans. Just then Jeff ran and flipped over the ropes onto both Cade & Murdoch. A ref kept them back as the enraged tag team champs yelled and tried to go after Jeff.

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall over Daivari.

Coach shown on the phone yelling how the investigator has been talking to everyone. Coach told the person on the phone he had a meeting regarding a "Sheik Production". Coach said he had to go as a knock came at the office door, and the Iron Sheik came in. Iron Sheik talked to Coach about having his own talk show on Raw. Coach said he had to go and would consider it. Sheik then yelled in his native language. Ron Simmons came in and stood next to Coach.

William Regal backstage holding Maria's hand trying to woo her as Santino Morella came up to them. Maria introduced Santino to Regal. Santino went to shake Regal's hand, but Regal made a comment about Santino being Italian, then turned his back and walked off. Maria told Santino she was happy he didn't get drafted to another show. She then asked him to speak to her in Italian, and then giggled with him as he did.

Todd Grisham did an exclusive interview with Vince McMahon's limo driver, Thomas Pagliaro. The limo driver said at the time of the explosion he had just received a call from his wife on his cell phone. He said just as he hung up the call and was on his way back to the limo, he heard the worst explosion ever. Pagliaro said if he had been any closer he woulda been gone too. He said his heart goes out to the McMahon family in this tragedy.

Mick Foley then seen dressed as Catcus Jack, walking backstage on the way to his match.

Mick Foley vs. Umaga - Foley's first action back in the wrestling ring in some time came against the intimidating Umaga. Announced that Umaga would challenge Santino Morella for the Intercontinental Title at Vengeance on Sunday. Foley attacked Umaga before hecouldget in the ring and started biting Umaga near the crowd barrier. Back in the ring, Umaga was able to clothesline Foley when he ran at him. The action spilled out of the ring where Foley bounced Umaga's head off the announce table and ring. Foley grabbed a steel chair and cracked it over Umaga's head, but Umaga stayed on his feet. Umaga able to kick the chair into Foley. Umaga sat Foley next to the steel steps, then ran at him. Umaga smashed his hip into Foley's head against the steps. As Foley lay there, the ref yelled for someone to get help. Several more refs ran down to look at the knocked out Foley, as Umaga walked up the ramp, scowling at the audience members.

Winner:No winner announced, but match stopped after Foley hit Umaga with a chair and Umaga then smashed against Foley at the steel steps.

Daniel Beck, federal investigator, seen backstage interviewing John Cena. A white limo was seen backing up outside the arena. The limo parked but nobody got out.
When Raw returned from commercial, they replayed what happened to Mick Foley and then showed a doctor examining Mick Foley backstage. The federal investigator interrupted and said he needed to ask Foely some questions. The doctor told him Foley was in no condition to answer questions now.

New Raw draftee, Mr. Kennedy came down to the ring in a suit. The mic dropped down and a spotlight appeared on him in the ring. Kennedy said he is sick to his stomach for several reasons, one being that they lost Chairman McMahon. Secondly, Kennedy said he was sick because he was drafted to Raw and that he really doesn't like the crowd at all. Kennedy told the crowd they have no respect for talent, and they never respected Mr. McMahon who was a genius. The crowd chanted "You Suck" and Kennedy told them he is the greatest thing to ever grace the WWE and Raw. Kennedy said he can't figure out why the crowd has no respect for him, because he respected Mr. McMahon and knew him well. Kennedy said Vince was like a father to him, and from this point on he will dedicate his career to Mr. Vincent Kennedy McMahon....McMahon.

White limo seen again in the back parking lot, this time with the driver getting out to stand in front of the back limo door.

Melina & Jillian vs. Candice & Mickie James - This match was dedicated to the memory of Sensational Sherri (1958 - 2007) who passed away this past Friday. Jillian told the crowd she would like to dedicate her singing tonight to the memory of Mr. McMahon. Jillian then sang an awful rendition of Amazing Grace, until Mickie James entrance interrupted her. JR announced Candice will face Melina for the Women's title this Sunday at Vengeance. Early on Jillian able to attack Candice from behind and started to dominate. Jillian and Melina worked well together early on in the match and kept Candice away from the tag. Candice tried to kick Melina way once, but Melina came back to stop her from tagging. Candice then flipped Melina and was able to tag Mickie in. All the divas got in the ring at once, and Mickie used a scissor hold to flip Jillian off the corner turnbuckle. Mickie with a neckbreaker on Melina and then went for the pin, but Jillian broke it up. Jillian and Melina able to doubleteam Mickie with a move. Candice ran back into the ring and speared Jilian, then the 2 went outside the ring to fight. Mickie tried to roll up Melina for a pin, which the ref saw late. Melina then used a new move, placing her leg on Mickie's neck as she slammed her down on her back and pinned her.

Winners: Melina and Jillian win via pinfall over Mickie James & Candice Michelle.

JR and Jerry Lawler expressed their thoughts on Mr. McMahon and the tragic loss. Another replay shown of Vince's final moments when he entered the limo and it exploded. Footage shown of the firemen hosing down the burning limosine and then of the charred remains of the limo.

The white limo outside of the arena was shown once again, and Jerry Lawler said they have no idea who could be inside.

Main Event: Randy Orton & King Booker (w/Queen Sharmelle) vs. Bobby Lashley & John Cena - 4 of the 5 men set to be involved in Vengeance's Championship Challenge. Lashley and Booker battled early on, grappling in the corner of the ring. Lashley started to overpower King Booker until Booker used a thumb to the eye. Eventually, Orton and Cena tagged in, and Cena took early control. Cena tagged in his partner and they doubleteamed Orton, then knocked both Orton and Booker out of the ring as Raw took a commercial break.

Back from break, Orton had Cena in a headlock in the middle of the ring. JR said during break Booker kicked Cena in the back when he went against the ropes. Cena finally regained momentum when he did a bulldog on Orton off the corner. Orton got up as Cena was trying to crawl to tag Lashley. Orton grabbed Cena's foot and then tagged in Booker. Booker tried to pin Cena after knocking him down, but Lashley came in for the save. Booker continued trying to wear Cena down in the ring. Orton tagged in to continue the beatdown on Cena. Orton eventually got up with Orton holding him in a neckhold. Cena used his strength to try to move himself towards Lashley, but fell back to the mat with Orton holding his neck. Cena finally got back to his feet and escaped the hold, then the two men collided with clotheslines off the ropes. Both men struggled to get back up as the ref counted them down. Both Orton and Cena were able to crawl over to tag their partners in. Lashley and Booker exchanged moves in the ring, with Lashely finally suplexing Booker. lashley then went for his finisher, but Orton came over to kick Lashley in the stomach. Cena then knocked Orton out of the ring, and Booker kicked Cena out. As Lashley had Booker near the ropes, Orton made a blind tag to Booker's back. Orton was then able to enter the ring and RKO Lashley when he wasn't looking. Orton then scored the pinfall victory for this team.

Winners: Randy Orton and King Booker win via pinfall over John Cena & Bobby Lashley.

Limo driver opened the door as Stephanie McMahon exited and walked to the arena with a sad look on her face. Stephanie seen talking to Coach backstage, saying she was ok to walk down to the ring on her own tonight.

JR & King reviewed the main event matches for Vengeance. Stephanie McMahon then came down to the ring to address the crowd. Stephanie thanked everyone for their support and sympathy and said it has meant alot to the McMahon family. Stephanie invited everyone to join the McMahon family & WWE Superstars next week in a 3 hour celebration of Mr. McMahon. Stephanie said this week's Pay Per View is named Vengeance, and vengeance will be true when the McMahon family finds out who did this to Vince. Stephanie then dropped the mic, crying as she left the ring and ran up the ramp.
