Bret Hart Simpsonized

As "The Simpsons Movie" hits screens all over on Friday, it was interesting to check out Wikipedia.com's guest star list from the many seasons of the show. After scanning the names of guest stars, only 1 WWF/WWE star jumped out off the list and that was the best there was, the best there is and best there ever will be, Bret the Hitman Hart.

Bret appeared on episode 21 in season 8, entitled "The Old Man and the Lisa". It was first aired on April 20, 1997. In the episode, Mr. Burns (Homer's boss from the nuclear power plant) becomes bankrupt. He asks Homer's oldest daughter, Lisa, to help him become rich again.

Bret Hart appeared on the episode as himself and was insistent that his character be shown wearing his famous pink wrestling costume. Bret explained that "It's so cool to be part of a show that makes people laugh really, really hard." (source: answers.com) The media, aware that the animated Hart would want to purchase Mr. Burns' home, mistakenly anticipated that "Bret offers to wrestle him [Mr. Burns] for the place." A clip of this episode was later included in the Bret Hart documentary "Wrestling With Shadows".
