ECW Recap 07.31.07

Recap of ECW from Phoenix, AZ:

ECW opened with ECW Champ John Morrison arriving to the ring. Morrison told the crowd he is their portal to the infinite, the shaman of sexy, the new face of extreme, ECW champion, John Morrison. Morrison talked about last week's "15 minutes of Fame' opponent and how they failed. Morrison said tonight he'd challenge one of the greatest athletes in all of Arizona, and give him 15 minutes to try to last in the ring. Morrison then insulted the Arizona Cardinals and the Diamondbacks' star players. Morrison introduced his opponent who came to the ring. Styles and Tazz didn't know who he was.

Unknown opponent vs. John Morrison

Morrison had a ref get in the ring and Morrison asked the opponent if he was ready for his fame. His opponent said he was ready as the bell rang and the clock started. Morrison kicked him in the stomach and then did his finisher on the man, beating him in just 20 seconds time.

Winner: John Morrison wins via pinfall.

Morrison asked if there were any other competitors for him tonight. Morrison said nobody in the crowd looks ready to compete. Just then, Tommy Dreamer came out from backstage and walked down to the ring. Dreamer with mic in hand said he's been around alot longer than 15 minutes in the wrestling industry. Dreamer said he wants to be ECW champ again, and that he is someone who can beat Morrison. Just then Elijah Burke came walking out with a mic.

Burke told Dreamer he's prehistoric in terms of ECW wrestlers and his "15 years of fame" have passed. Burke said he's more of a competitor for Morrison. As Burke kept talking, CM Punk came walking out to his theme music and got into the ring. CM Punk told even though Morrison said he was done giving him title shots that he can last 15 minutes in the ring with him. Punk said he'd prove it tonight. Morrison said no to Punk's request, saying he just had a hard match and couldn't fight tonight. Morrison told the 3 men to have a Triple threat match tonight. Morrison said the winner of that match could face him next week in a "15 Minutes of Fame" match for an opportunity at the ECW title.

Stevie Richards vs. Kevin Thorn

Thorn rammed Stevie Richards from corner to corner then knocked him down. Thorn began to kick away at Richards before standing him up and choking him against the ropes. Richards tried to gain momentum and jumped at Thorn in the corner. Thorn shoved Richards back. Thorn then picked Richards up in a crucifix move, then slammed him down. Thorn began to put Richards in a submission hold to focus on Richards' lower back. Thorn lifted Richards up in a backbreaker, holding him up. Thorn dropped down with Richards to slam him down. Thorn went for a pin but Richards got his shoulder up before 3. Thorn then layed Richards up in the corner and kicked his back hard. Thorn ran at Richards in the corner and Richards moved to avoid him. Thorn rammed into the ring post and Richards took advantage by rolling him up for a quick pinfall victory.

Winner: Stevie Richards wins via pinfall over Kevin Thorn.

3 Wreslters vs. Big Daddy V

Big Daddy V came down with Matt
Striker for the 3 on 1 handicap match. V began to decimate his opponents lifting each up and slamming them down to the mat. V with a hard chest chop on one opponent then threw him the ropes. V slammed the man back hard then threw all 3 men into 1 ring corner. V with a huge splash on all 3 men in the corner, then knocked each man down in the center of the ring. V stacked the 3 men on top of each other and scored the pinfall victory over the 3 opponents.

After the victory, the Boogeyman appeared at the top of the ramp and smashed a clock over his head. Boogeyman came down and got into the ring as Striker and V departed. Boogeyman then took a handful of worms and put them in his mouth. Boogeyman stared out the ring at Big Daddy V as he and Striker backed away up the ramp.

Winner: Big Daddy V wins via pinfall.

Tazz said Extreme Expose would be coming up next. An ad was shown for the latest issue of WWE magazine which features Rey Mysterio.

Extreme Expose did a dance routine to "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson. Layla took a microphone into the ring and then introduced "The Miz". Miz came out from backstage and walked to the ring. The Miz took the mic in the ring and told the crowd he's a chick magnet because the ladies dig him and the men fear him, Balls Mahoney came out to fight Miz as Extreme Expose sat in front of the announcers table.

Balls grabbed Miz' arm behind his back, but Miz managed to drag Balls over and throw him out through the ropes. Mahoney able to get back up on the apron and ram Miz in the gut. Miz regained control and put Mahoney face first on the middle rope, choking him. Miz and Balls fought in the middle of the ring, where Balls punched Miz several times knocking him down. Balls went for a pin but Miz put his foot on the bottom rope. Balls ran at Miz in the corner of the ring, but Miz moved away then used a swinging neckbreaker style move on Balls. Miz with the pinfall victory and then left the ring with Extreme Expose.

Winner: The Miz wins via pinfall over Balls Mahoney.

Tazz and Styles discussed the upcoming triple threat match and then highlighted Tommy Dreamer. Highlights were shown from various matches from Dreamer's career with ECW.

Elijah Burke shown backstage clapping in a mocking way after the Dreamer highlights. Burke said it would take a whole hour to show his own career highlights. Burke said his highlights would come next when he takes out Punk and Dreamer. Burke then said he will be one step closer to being ECW champ.

Promo shown for Triple H saying he would be rebuilt stronger and faster than before. The return of Triple H is set for Summerslam in 4 weeks.

Elijah Burke vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. CM Punk (Triple Threat)

All 3 wrestlers arrived to the ring and ECW then went to commercial break. Back from break, Dreamer had just knocked Punk down off the ropes, with Burke standing outside the ring. Burke managed to pull Punk out of the ring and onto the floor. Burke then got on the apron and Dreamer tossed him into the ring. Dreamer began to beat up Burke in the ring, until Punk jumped back in the ring over the ropes. Dreamer and Punk fought briefly with Dreamer getting knocked out of the ring. Burke took advantage and hit Punk in the back with an elbow then put him in a headlock.

Punk able to get to his feet and out of the headlock, then kicking Burke in the head. Punk with a pin attempt but Burke kicked out. Punk tossed Burke to the corner of the ring and ran at him. Burke able to flip Punk up and over the ropes. Punk landed outside the ring. Dreamer then came back in and fought with Burke. Burke gained the upperhand and whipped Dreamer to the corner. Burke then ran to the corner and held himself up in a handstand type move on the ropes then dropped an elbow on Dreamer. Burke went for the pin near the ropes where CM Punk had stood up and pulled Burke out of the ring.

Punk got back into the ring and tried to roll up Dreamer with a pin. Dreamer able to kick out, and Punk tossed him to the outside of the ring next to Burke. Punk then went off the ropes and flipped over onto both men. Punk was limping but tossed Burke back into the ring. Burke kicked out of a pinfall by Punk then tried to roll up Punk himself. Dreamer managed to back into it and picked up Punk from behind, slamming him back for a pin attempt. Dreamer DDT'd Punk off the ropes and tried to pin again, but Burke broke things up. Burke had both men down and started to go back and forth beating on each. As Burke was beating on Punk in the corner, Dreamer went over and grabbed Burke. Dreamer put Burke in a Texas Cloverleaf submission. Just then Punk got up and kicked the back of the head of Dreamer. Punk tried to put Burke away for several pins with no luck.

Punk put Burke up on the ropes then climbed up too, but Burke was able to shove CM off. Dreamer came over and punched Burke and then climbed the ropes. CM Punk managed to come back over and then slammed both men off the top ropes. Punk tried for a pin on Dreamer but Dreamer kicked out. Punk threw Burke to the corner and ran at him with a high knee to the head. Punk then collided with Tommy Dreamer, causing Dreamer to fall and roll out of the ring. From there, Punk managed to grab Burke and put him in his finisher move. After the victory, Dreamer and Punk shook hands as Dreamer held up Punk's arm in victory.

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over Tommy Dreamer and Elijah Burke.
