Summerslam 2007 Predictions

The wait is finally over! Summerslam is one of the bigger Pay Per Views of the year and offers us the potential for several title changes. I believe one of the biggest title changes many were waiting to see will occur here and now (as rumor sites also suggest). I'm looking for a total of 2 title changes at the event, but I have to say WWE is doing a good job lately of teasing us to make us believe that..For this Pay Per View, I'm competing head-to-head with Edward Ball who is the author of the WWE Geek Blog. I'll list his picks after each of mine and see how we do in the spirit of friendly competition.

With that, here's my predictions for the big summer event:

CM Punk vs. John Morrison

The first of several matches which seem tough to predict, and you could go either way here. Seeing as the last match involving this two on ECW had Morrison capturing the win, that's usually a setup for Punk to win the next time (hence the title). It makes you think CM Punk has to win one of these times, but it seems that they want a very established champion for the brand. So Morrison wins again. Tommy Dreamer will be his next competitor on ECW. The fans voting in my blog poll here, overwhelmingly picked Punk to win it.

Prediction: Morrison continues his reign as ECW champ.
(WWE Geek's Pick: John Morrison)

Diva Battle Royal (for #1 Women's Contender):

To pick this one you could almost draw a name from a hat or throw a dart at a list of Diva names. The WWE could go many ways with this. However, Beth Phoenix seems like a new, dominant and tough competitor. I agree with a fan who told me that if not Beth Phoenix, it's Michelle McCool. But in terms of a tough new heel to become women's champ, I'll go with Beth Phoenix.

Prediction: Beth Phoenix wins and becomes #1 contender for the Women's belt.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Mickie James)

Batista vs Great Khali

Khali is an imposing yet clumsy champion. He's decimated the likes of Flair, Batista and Kane on Smackdown leading up to this Summerslam. His new "claw" move has shown there's no escape. Prior to Edge being injured, Batista had lost his championship opportunities, for a short while, which would lead one to believe there was no plan for Batista to have the belt back soon. Khali will continue his reign in this match with a win. Foul play or a disqualification may play a part, setting up further contests.

Prediction: Khali retains the title with his tough vice grip claw, or some sort of DQ mayhem happens where Batista doesn't win the title.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Batista)

Finlay vs Kane

This match was an add-on during the past week due to MVP's condition. MVP is unfit to wrestle, so instead Kane will battle Finlay. Makes for an easy pick, Kane takes this one off a chokeslam.

Prediction: Kane wins via pinfall, after some probable Hornswaggle interference.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Finlay)

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero

The 1st of two great superstars that WWE has been saving just for this event. Revenge is sweet and will be on the mind of Rey Mysterio. Chavo has been trying to play mind games on his opponent each week on Smackdown, but we all know that Mysterio will show us his high flying aerial moves en route to a comeback victory. Easy prediction here, Mysterio with the comeback win, this and the HHH match can be called the "no-brainers" of the card, but will still be treats to fans.

Prediction: Mysterio does the 619 and many other moves on Chavo to get his revenge and a comeback victory.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Rey Mysterio)

Triple H vs. King Booker

The return of one of WWE's greatest in Triple H. Here he will do battle with King Booker who has been trash talking everyone on Raw lately. Based on a good 100 or so promo ads showing us that Triple H will be returning, who'd pick against him here? Triple H makes his triumphant return to beat Booker and continue to be "King of Kings". This also will end Booker's king-ship so that a new King can be proclaimed at the next "King of the Ring".

Prediction: WWE fans get to see a victorious return of Triple H and the world famous pedigree as HHH pins Booker.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Triple H)

Carlito vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Umaga (IC Title)

Most of the past greats such as Rock, HHH and Stone Cold started off winning the Intercontinental title before they made their climb to the top and captured the WWE belt. This is where Kennedy starts his rise (most likely aided by being Mr. McMahon's lost son). Kennedy will somehow pull out the victory here, especially if he's getting the push to be WWE champ. Perhaps Vince interferes on his son's behalf, since Umaga was part of why Vince got shaved bald at Wrestlemania. (Note: WWE.com had a poll asking fans who will take this one. 33% of votes went to each competitor)

Prediction: Kennedy wins and proud Papa McMahon welcomes him to the family.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Mr. Kennedy)

Randy Orton vs. John Cena

In the words of John Cena's entrance song "Your time is up, the time is now". Sorry to say Cena fans all over, this will be the place where Cena finally loses his belt. The WWE has been known to shock us before, but Cena has had an epic and lengthy title run and its time for a heel to take over. The other point to mention is that Orton has given a bit of an injury to other opponents' heads (Shawn Michaels and RVD, etc) before he puts them out of business for a while. He had Cena clutching his injured head on Raw this past week. I believe Orton takes the belt here, but its hard to know if he will send Cena out injured on a stretcher, let's hope that its not the case. The Game will be back and ready to challenge Orton for his newly won title, so don't despair.

Prediction: Randy Orton becomes the new WWE Champ as Cena's title reign ends. Triple H will become his new feud while Cena leaves to work on a new movie and rap album.
(WWE Geek's Pick: Randy Orton)

Vince's Child Named?

Why not make the event even bigger? This Pay Per View should finally give us that answer that Coach and Vince have been seeking for a few weeks now. It could even play into the IC title or WWE title match, which could make this the best Pay Per View of 2007. My guess is that Kennedy is named the son. I still hold Snitsky and Randy Orton as the wildcards..Stay tuned!

Overall, fans will be treated to 2 great comeback victories (HHH and Mysterio) as well as at least 2-3 title changes. Feel free to disagree with any pick and leave a comment. I respectfully ask for comments to be on the shorter side. Thanks and enjoy the biggest event of the Summer, Summerslam!

Recap of Saturday Night's Main Event from NYC:

Vince and Coach shown backstage in an office to start off the show. Vince said how upset he was at the revelation Stephanie made on Raw saying his illegitimate child was a WWE superstar. Coach said he had a list and was narrowing down who Vince's child was based on the info he had. Coach asked Vince if he had told him of all of his past romps. Vince recalled one time in Kansas City with a woman. Coach discussed how he was born in KC and was adopted. Vince shook his head and said "it's gonna be a long night".

JBL, Jim Ross and Michael Cole introduced themselves as the commentators and began discussing tonight's matches including the boxing match between Matt Hardy and Evander Holyfield, John Cena vs. Carlito and also how tonight we may discover who Vince's illegitimate child is.

Batista & Kane vs. Finlay & The Great Khali

As Khali made his way down to the ring as they showed footage of last night's Smackdown with Kane facing Khali. Khali put Kane down in the claw grip, then put Batista down as well when he came to try to attack Khali.

Kane started off hammering away and kicking at Finlay in the corner, then threw him to the other corner for a clothesline. Kane followed with a side slam and a failed pin. Batista tagged in to continue to beat up Finlay. Finlay tried to escape Batista in the corner, but Batista caught him in the air then rammed him into the corner. Batista then suplexed Finlay off the corner ropes. Finlay rolled out of the ring as SNME hit commercial break.

SNME returned with Khali clotheslining down Kane in the ring. During break, Khali attacked Kane when he was outside battling Finlay. Khali began exploiting the rib injury Kane had by grabbing Kane in the side of his stomach. Khali continued to clutch Kane's rib area as the ref asked if Kane wanted to quit. Kane fought back getting to the ropes and punching at Khali. Khali then used a boot to Kane's face, knocking him down. Khali tagged in Fnlay who ran over and attacked Kane, then did the same to Batista. Kane able to recover and tagged in Batista. Batista started running back and forth hitting Finlay and Khali in the corner.

Hornswaggle snuck into the ring behind Batista. Batista saw him and grabbed him, then threw him right into Finlay's midsection. Khali became wrapped up in the ropes, so Kane and Batista picked up Hornswaggle and used him as a battering ram several times into Khali's stomach. As they threw down the leprechaun, Khali escaped then grabbed Batista and Kane with each hand, but they broke out of it and doubleteamed Khali. Kane went out of the ring as did Khali. Finlay came in to attack Batista who then speared him down. Batista finished off Finlay with a Batista Bomb and then scored the pin.

Winners: Kane and Batista win via pinfall over Finlay & Khali.

Vince shown backstage with Coach as they continued talking about who his child might be. Vince went over to a mirror to fix his hair and saw an old reflection of himself as a young announcer/commentator. Coach and Vince then left the scene. Ron Simmons walked up to the mirror and seemed as if he was trying to get Vince's attention. Simmons stared into the mirror a bit before saying "DAMN!".

Triple H returns promo shown for Summerslam.

MVP hanging out with a posse backstage, and Evander Holyfield entered the locker room as the crowd cheered. MVP told Evander since he can't fight due to doctor's orders that's why he chose Holyfield to replace him. MVP hugged Evander as they joked around.

Coach and Mr. McMahon were then in the ring. Coach held a file folder and discussed that the identity of the person who is Vince's child will be announced tonight. Vince told Coach to "get on with it". Coach said Vince provided alot of info and tonight they will locate the child. Coach said based on one "trist" Vince told him of, he believes he may have found Vince's child. Just then Eugene came out to the ring in his superhero costume. Vince had a look of disgust on his face as Coach gave a mic to Eugene. Eugene said how his mom said "Vince nailed her" and that's why his uncle Eric Bischoff got into wrestling, so he could put Vince out of business. Vince told Eugene he wore a condom that night, so he's not his son. Eugene then said "I love you dad" before hugging Vince and leaving the ring.

Coach said maybe Vince has a daughter and introduced Melina. Melina came strutting down to the ring in a tight black and pink dress with an angry look on her face. Vince said Melina is not his daughter and she will agree to it. Coach asked why. Vince whispered to Coach causing Coach to exclaim "thats digusting!" Vince told Melina it was just a typical July 4th celebration. Melina said if it turns out she is his daughter she will take him for every cent he has. Vince became upset as Melina stormed out of the ring. Vince asked Coach if there were any more. Coach said just one more but he didn't think they should bring them out. Vince yelled at Coach to "bring him out".

Just then after a pause, Stone Cold Steve Austin's breaking glass sounded and his theme music came on. Stone Cold came walking down to the ring eyeing Coach and Vince as he posed from the ring corners. Austin took a mic and began pacing the ring around Vince. Austin began discussing how he might be Vince's son. Vince told Austin "theres no chance in hell" he was his illegitimate son. Austin said they missed out on so many memories while he was growing up. Austin said Vince made it easy for him to just come out and "stun his ass". Austin told Vince he must have "overactve grapefruits" and to help him out Austin delivered a kick to the groin and then a low blow to Vince.

Coach walked up to Austin confronting him for what he just did. Austin then kicked Coach and delivered the Stone Cold Stunner to him. Austin celebrated with beers in the ring pouring them out onto Vince and Coach. Jim Ross said he thinks they can now conclude Stone Cold is not Vince's child. Vince finally got back up and Stone Cold said it's his first time back at the Garden, so he offered to drink a beer with Vince. Austin handed Vince a beer and they toasted, before Stone Cold kicked Vince and then delivered a stunner to him.

MVP shown in the back locker room as Evander Holyfield was preparing for the upcoming boxing match.

Carlito vs. John Cena

Footage shown of Cena's match on Raw 3 weeks ago against Carlito, where Randy Orton interfered allowing Carlito to win. Carlito then spit apple into Cena's face on the mat. Michael Cole discussed how Cena will put his title on the line against Orton in about a week at Summerslam.

Cena took control early on, kicking down Carlito then tossing him to the corner. Cena threw Carlito off the ropes then knocked him down with a hard forearm. Carlito rolled out of the ring and went over to grab Lillian Garcia's chair. Carlito tried to enter the ring with the chair, but the ref took it away. Cena came over to Carlito on the apron. As the ref turned away, Carlito was able to knock Cena out of the ring. SNME headed to commercial break.

Back from break, Carlito was kicking and punching Cena down on the mat. Michael Cole said Carlito had been working on the head of Cena. Cena able to regain control out of the corner, then came off the ropes to do a neckbreaker type move. Cena got up on the corner ropes then did a double legdrop on Carlito's head. Cena quickly slapped the STFU onto Carlito who immediately tapped out. Cena with the win, but as the bell sounded, Randy Orton came running down to the ring.

Orton attacked Cena, then tossed him out of the ring. Orton grabbed Cena and whipped him into the steel steps. Orton then began franticly pacing around until Cena got up. Orton set up a chair, then grabbed Cena and did an RKO on Cena right through the metal chair. Orton stared coldly at Cena laying on his back outside the ring.

Winner: John Cena wins via submission over Carlito.

Backstage, Todd Grisham caught up with Randy Orton. Grisham said what Orton did was brutal. Orton said he sent a message to Cena "loud and clear" about what he will get from Randy Orton at Summerslam.

Several divas seen sitting in front of the commentator's table near the ring dressed as boxing ring girls. JBL discussed the matchup showing the stats of Hardy vs. Holyfield. Hardy was then introduced and came out in a boxing robe with two corner men. MVP came out next with about 5 or 6 corner men. MVP got into the ring and started taunting Hardy. Holyfield came out with 2 men to a roar from the crowd. Cole said Holyfield has a reach advantage over Hardy. Boxing announcer Michael Buffer announced the match asking MSG if they were ready. MVP interrupted him and handed Buffer a card of what to say for MVP's intro.

Matt Hardy vs. Evander Holyfield

Holyfield started jabbing away at Matt in the first round, backing him into a corner. Holyfield knocked Matt Hardy down to the corner with under a minute in Round 1. Hardy got back up and shook things off. Holyfield continued to punch away at Hardy until he fell to the mat again. Jim Ross said tonight it might be best for Hardy to stay on the mat, but Matt got himself up right before the round ended.

As Round 2 started, Holyfield indivated to the ref he didn't want to go after Matt Hardy anymore because he can tell Hardy's had enough. MVP went over and yelled at Holyfield to go knock out and finish off Matt Hardy. As MVP continued barking orders, Holyfield gave him a look. Holyfield turned to leave, then MVP grabbed him. Holyfield delivered a solid knockout punch to MVP leaving him face 1st on the mat. Holyfield then went over and showed some love for Hardy's effort, giving him a hug in the corner.

Winner: Holyfield dominated the match over Matt Hardy and knocked out MVP.

Tazz joined Michael Cole and Jim Ross at ringside to replace JBL for the next match, from the ECW brand.

Boogeyman & CM Punk vs. Big Daddy V & John Morrison

Big Daddy V came to the match with Matt Striker as his manager. Morrison and Punk faced off first with Punk knocking Morrison down for a quick pin attempt. Punk continued to fight Morrison giving a strange look to Boogeyman in the corner instead of tagging him. Punk eventually clotheslined Morrison over the ropes as SNME went to break.

Back from break, Boogeyman whipped Morrison to the ropes then flipped him up over his back. Boogeyman grabbed a fistful of worms and put them in his mouth then went at Morrison. Matt Striker got up onto the apron and distracted Boogeyman, allowed Big Daddy V to tag in. V clotheslined Boogeyman down then began to manhandle him around the ring. Eventually Boogeyman escaped when V ran at him in the same corner as Morrison was standing near. Boogeyman tagged in CM Punk just as Morrison tagged in.

CM Punk started to dominate the ECW champ, slamming him down then tossing him to the corner. Punk able to jump off the side ropes and clothesline Morrison down. Both men got up, with Punk dropping Morrison with several punches and moves. Punk threw Morrison to the corner for a knee to the face, then a bulldog. Punk jumped on the top rope and then jumped off to clothesline Morrison down. Punk tried a pin with Morrison escaping at 2. Punk continued to deliver moves and pinfall attempts with under 2 minutes. Morrison finally got back into it and did a neckbreaker on Punk.

Both men continued to fight with the timer running down under a minute. Morrison prepared his finisher, but Punk escaped then hoisted Morrison up for the GTS. Punk hit Morrison with the finisher and then looked at the clock as he pinned him. Punk picked up the win with only 5 seconds left on the clock. Styles said Punk will now get to face Morrison for the ECW title at Summerslam.

Thoughts on the Bash

Great American Bash has come and gone, and once again it seems the fans were given very few title changes. It almost appears as if some of the Pay Per Views should be televised on USA or a Direct TV wrestling network, because spending $40-50 on each one seems extreme for what fans are being given. The matches are still entertaining but it seems as if the Creative Team is either trying to massively build up the current title holders, or is fresh out of ideas. The surprises come few and far between, with the exception of maybe Santino Marella showing up to the ring in Italy to capture the IC title, but that was no pay per view. Perhaps the WWE writers are perplexed by the injury bug which continues to hit its champions and contenders. The Great American Bash was a continuation of just about all of the championship title reigns.

One title change occurred at this year's Great American Bash, the Cruiserweight title which went to under-the-ring dweller, Hornswaggle. I wasn't surprised at the results from the rest of the card, although Matt Hardy has been built up alot lately and has been on quite a roll with victories. A victory over MVP seems deserved, but maybe they are saving it for later, say Summerslam. I'm not sure what direction the Khali title reign will take right now. He's definitely no Andre the Giant in the ring, but he's got that dominating size in his favor. It's funny, because you'd think if the Edge injury hadn't happened, Batista would be defeating Khali in their singles match at the Bash and building up his resume. While Khali is clumsy in the ring, its tough to just defeat a guy that big (unless Cena comes over to Smackdown for some reason, he's beaten him 2 or 3 times now). I'm not sure how long they will allow Khali to hold the title, but he makes Big Show, Andre the Giant and El Gigante look like they could have won Oscars for their work.

Khali, John Morrison, Candice Michelle, Umaga, Orton were all expected wins as they are generally recent title winners. There were some weapons style matches thrown in with the Bullrope and Singapore Cane on a Pole match that provided some unique entertainment for the show. Dusty Rhodes' son has set up a mini-feud with Orton until Triple H gets back. I think they still want Orton as the "Legend Killer" so that when Triple H finally returns he can claim to be the one legend Orton just can't get rid of. Maybe an "Orton Invitational Stretcher Battle Royal" would be a good way to speed things up for Orton's resume while we're waiting. Orton vs. Sgt Slaughter, Tatanka, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Doink, Ron Simmons and any other "legends" hanging around backstage. Orton would need to throw a guy over the ropes, and the wrestler would then be taken out on a stretcher. Getting carried away here, but the "legend killer" gimmick does get old, because we have seen it over and over now and we definitely get it.

That said, the one very bright spot and creative idea of the show was Hornswaggle entering the Cruiserweight invitational and winning the title. It's surprising and funny, and almost lends credence to how maybe this title holds very little value (it's starting to look like the Hardcore title which changed hands once or twice about every 1-2 hours). My thoughts on this: will a superstar actually challenge Hornswaggle? Who wants to be the wrestler who goes after a small leprechaun to win a title? Possibly Hornswaggle will just keep the title under the ring with the rest of his gold spoils. It makes you wonder if they are getting rid of the title for a while or for good. The other possibility I see here is that someone does go after Hornswaggle and Finlay comes to his rescue, starting a new feud.

In closing, many fans continue to be disappointed that John Cena is still WWE champ. While I agree that maybe it's time for a title change, At Summerslam, Cena will have been the WWE champ for over a year. So why not just give him the year, and then give up the title reign? However, I'd most like to see Triple H holding that title on Raw of any competitor there is today. A triple threat match with Cena, Orton and HHH at Summerslam wouldn't be such a bad idea and would be well worth the Pay Per View purchase price.

Great American Bash Results

Results from this Sunday's Great American Bash Pay Per View:

John Cena defeats Lashley via pinfall to retain the WWE Title
John Cena threw everything he had at Bobby Lashley, but the challenger kept coming. Finally, The Champ delivered an FU from the top rope, ending Lashley’s quest to become WWE Champion. After the match, Cena and Lashley shook hands in the middle of the ring as a sign of respect.

Great Khali defeats Kane and Batista to retain the World Heavyweight Title
Despite being double-teamed by Batista and Kane, The Great Khali won the big one at The Great American Bash, defeating The Animal and Big Red Monster in a Triple Threat Match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Umaga defeats Jeff Hardy via pinfall to retain the Intercontinental Title
Jeff Hardy’s effort was valiant, but he was unable to overcome the destructive force of the Samoan Bulldozer at The Great American Bash. Umaga retained his Intercontinental Championship when he flattened Hardy with a Samoan Spike.

MVP defeats Matt Hardy via pinfall to retain US championship
In the weeks leading up to the contest, the mind games between the two competitors built up, which saw Hardy eliminate MVP from the 20-Man Battle Royal to name a new World Heavyweight Champion. At the Great American Bash it was the physical beating of Hardy’s head that may have given Porter the final edge he needed to win.

John Morrison defeats CM Punk via pinfall to retain ECW title
CM Punk looked great in an extremely athletic encounter with John Morrison for the ECW World Championship at The Great American Bash. But in the end, it was Morrison pinning Punk and retaining his gold.

Randy Orton defeated Dusty Rhodes via pinfall in Texas Bullrope Match
Rhodes nearly made a comeback, even nailing Orton with his signature “Flip Flop ‘n Fly” elbow sequence, but it was once again the cowbell that was his undoing. With a mighty wallop, Orton brought the seven-pound bell crashing down across the Hall of Famer’s skull, and that was enough to gain him the winning pinfall.

Candice Michelle defeats Melina via pinfall to retain Women's Title
Candice, who has said she makes up her lack of experience with her tremendous heart, showed the determination and resilience that has won a growing legion of fans and respect in the Raw locker room. Ultimately, she stunned Melina with a new move she called the Candywrapper, and left the Hollywood hobnobber flat on her back and counting the lights.

Hornswaggle wins the Cruiserweight Title via pinfall in the Cruiserweight Open
The rules of the Cruiserweight Open certainly benefited Hornswoggle who happened to be in the ring when the match started, making him a legal participant. And as luck would have it, the little guy shockingly pulled out the win to capture the gold. Seeing Jamie Noble lying stunned on the canvas, the diminutive Irishman climbed up top and executed a perfect Tadpole Splash to pick up the three-count.

Carlito defeats Sandman in Singapore Cane on a Pole Match
Many considered Sandman to be the favorite heading into the Singapore Cane on a Pole Match; and it looked like the former construction worker was heading towards the win when he was the first to the weapon. But Carlito found a way to win the match his way - with a Back Stabber.

Surprisingly only one title changed hands and it went to the smallest competitor in all of WWE, a guy who hangs out under the ring, Hornswaggle. As cool as that is, the Pay Per Views continue to have a general lack of title changes. Watch out for Summerslam, its a bigger pay per view event and will most likely give us several title changes.

Great American Bash Predictions

The major theme lately in WWE Pay Per Views has been that barely any titles change hands. I expect that to follow suit with the Great American Bash, with more titles likely to change hands at Summerslam than here. I can see just 1 title change at most, and it's not Cena's. Here's the rundown of my predictions..

Kane vs. Batista vs Great Khali (Triple Threat Match for World Heavyweight Title) -
Nobody saw this turn of events or match coming, so it actually spices up the card for the Bash a bit. The way the card was originally set up, I was predicting Edge to retain versus Kane and Batista to defeat Khali. All that changed when Edge was forced to give up the title, Khali won it in a battle royal and then this triple threat match was made. All that said, if they had wanted Kane or Batista winning the title, they most likely would have had them do it on Smackdown rather than Khali winning it. I think for a time now they will continue to have a heel champion on Smackdown, since Edge is injurred. I'm going to say Khali retains here somehow either by a DQ or pin. I don't see Khali only holding the title for 5 days though.

Prediction: Khali wins this match via a DQ or cheap tactic of some sort.

Matt Hardy vs MVP (US title) - This is probably the toughest of the matches to predict because it seems both wrestlers are being built up lately for their careers in WWE. The fans would love to see Matt Hardy win, and WWE wants MVP to have his title-holder credibility. MVP is coming off an impressive win versus Flair at the last Pay Per View. However, the fans want Matt Hardy holding the title. Matt Hardy won in a non-title matchup vs MVP on Smackdown which sets up the possibility here. If he doesn't win it here, I expect he'll win it at Summerslam. This would be my only title changing hands for the card.

Prediction: Matt Hardy will win the US championship.

Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga (Intercontinental Title) - Will both Hardy's win titles on the same card. It would make for a nice story, but I can't see Jeff Hardy beating the Samoan Bulldozer here. His brother will get the glory on this Pay Per View. The only other possiblity I could dream up for this match is Rey Mysterio makes his return here to avenge what Umaga did to him. I've read rumors that Mysterio will come back and go after Chavo though, who originally injured him. Umaga should retain the title unless some fluke occurs.

Prediction: Umaga retains the title via pinfall or DQ

CM Punk vs. John Morrison (ECW Title) - A recent name change for Nitro (to John Morrison) and also a recent showing that he can fight under extreme rules. The fans have wanted Punk to win the title for a while now, but Morrison is becoming the established heel champ on ECW. CM Punk will win it eventually but in this one, Morrison wins via pinfall.

Prediction: Morrison wins via pinfall to retain the ECW title.

Candice Michelle vs Melina (WWE Women's Title) - I see Candice retaining her title, because I have a feeling Beth Phoenix will be her next opponent, challenging for and maybe winning the WWE title. Expect Phoenix to possibly play a part in the match here and set up the feud. Candice hasn't said too much since winning the title, but actions will speak louder than words.

Prediction: Candice retains the WWE Women's title.

Randy Orton vs. Dusty Rhodes (Bullrope match) -
I'd call this the "easy match" to predict. You have the older "legend" facing a "legend killer". Orton obviously wins this, but I expect it will set up more of a feud for Cody Rhodes and Orton, or possible a return of Triple H.

Prediction: Orton wins via pinfall, and sends Rhodes out on a stretcher.

Bobby Lashley vs. John Cena (WWE Title) - The match with all the buzz. The recent commentary by various stars on Raw, makes the hype and setup big for this match, and makes you wonder if this is where Cena loses. Many expect Lashley to pull the win off here. Only exception is that Cena has held the title for nearly a year. That year mark will come by Summerslam, and thats when I expect Cena to finally lose the belt. Cena will find a way to win here.

Prediction: Cena wins via pinfall to retain the title.

WWE Pay Per Views have made it safe lately to predict barely any titles changing hands, but they just might shock us this time around. There's also been rumors that at the Bash we see the returns or appearances of Rey Mysterio, Triple H, and Undertaker..stay tuned to see their possible involvements in this event which could set up future feuds and matches.

Feel free to leave your comments about who will lose/win at the Bash. Comments with vulgarity/swearing will not be accepted.

The press agent told everyone "tonight will be the last night you see Johnny Nitro wrestle on ECW". The man said the rest of their questions would be answered later on in the ring.
