John Cena Talks of Benoit Case

John Cena did a Fox News interview with MyFox Atlanta prior to the Raw show in Corpus Christi, Texas. Corpus Christi was the location Raw was scheduled to appear at weeks ago when the Benoit tragedy struck. In the interview, Cena discusses the lifestyle of a pro wrestler, saying 10-20 years ago it was more of a "rockstar lifestyle" but not today. Cena said wrestlers today are randomly tested for drugs and that prescription medications are regulated by a company doctor. The news reporter, Doug Evans, stated that testosterone is allowed by the WWE as a therapy for damage done by previous steroid abuse. Cena said he's been "run and gun" since his time in the WWE but never once has had a need for steroids or prescription painkillers to assist with the wrestling lifestyle. Cena also noted he has been drug tested 6 times through the WWE's policy since February 2006 and has passed with flying color each time. The reporter stated that wrestlers who test positive under the WWE's drug policy face a 30 day suspension for offense #1, 60 days for offense #2 and fired if a third offense occurs.

The report also looks at how a large majority of the crowd at the Raw show is youngsters under age 12. It also looks at the economics of wrestling with a discussion of ticket prices.
