The Other WWE Titles
We have a pretty clear view of how the WWE title chase will be for the next few months. You can basically pencil in John Cena as champion, although WWE has been known to change plans. They may have even brought him in for a new story line for all we know. You'd have to figure Triple H or Hardy will enter into that title picture for Wrestlemania. A Triple H vs Cena build up would be pretty entertaining as we head to Wrestlemania 24.
That leaves the ECW and World Heavyweight title pictures to contemplate. Chavo Guerrero and Edge currently hold the belts. After last night, it looks like Punk will go after Chavo's ECW belt. What would be interesting is if WWE pulls a bit of a switcharoo and sends CM Punk to Smackdown to compete with Edge and Rey Mysterio to ECW to compete with Chavo. It would keep those feuds going and make for new title pictures. Many people have praised a Punk vs Edge feud and I agree. The two match up quite well, but the question is can Punk be considered a main eventer for Wrestlemania? Beyond Punk there aren't many face wrestlers on ECW who are in the title picture. WWE creative may even want to consider turning Shelton back to a "good guy" about now so he can go after Chavo.
I think the WWE tag team titles will eventually shift to Ryder and Hawkins. That means they either defeat Miz and Morrison, or some other transitional team such as Yang and Moore. Matt Hardy still seems destined to win that US Championship off MVP and you'd have to think WM24 is where that happens. The IC belt will need a new top competitor. Will Orton sink down to that status? Mr. Kennedy is taking on Ric Flair now so count him out of the IC title picture. So it leaves names like Carlito, Santino, Michaels, Orton and Umaga. The Umaga vs. Hardy feud has been done way too much, so let's hope WWE keeps that fresh.
We most likely will see the obligatory and entertaining Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WM24. Possibly guys like Punk, Carlito, Orton, Michaels, Hardy and Umaga will be involved in that one. There's been rumors that Punk will be the winner should this sort of match take place, but my belief is Punk will recapture the ECW title on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania 24.
