Scramble Screw Ups?
The News Journal Online's Jeff Wilen has an article from yesterday discussing some issues with how the Scramble matches went down at Unforgiven. Mostly it says that CM Punk losing his title how he did makes the titles and his reign a lot less credible. In addition, the article points fingers at WWE for having Chris Jericho win a title after being beaten senseless by Shawn Michaels, to the point the ref said Jericho couldn't go on.
Here's an excerpt:
Both are valid points, but at the same time stranger things have happened in WWE history. For example, title reigns of just a day or 30 second matches where the titles have been lost. A recent example might include the way the Intercontinental title and Women's championship were contested as if they were a set of tag team titles. Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix won the belts by beating Mickie James and Kofi Kingston, but neither title was given its "singles" status its held forever. As for Punk being replaced, that definitely was strange, so you'd have to think there's more to it. Possibly he's back in the WWE doghouse. WWE would have much more explaining to do if they cancelled the match altogether at a Pay-Per-View, or said it was a non-title bout.
The article also discusses how 2 of the 3 Scramble matches were not 20 minutes total time. The World Heavyweight match was less than 20 minutes while the WWE title match ran over time. According to the article's calculation, MVP was WWE champ at the 20 minute mark. Interesting remarks, read the full News Journal Online article here.

1. CM Punk. While I'm fine with Punk being beaten down -- by Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase and Manu (Afa. Jr.) -- it's downright stupid for him to lose his World Heavyweight Championship without even being in the Scramble main event.
2. Chris Jericho. Let me get this straight. Jericho went 27 minutes against Shawn Michaels, and the referee had to stop Michaels from beating Jericho silly. Yet Jericho is healthy enough to come back later in the night and not only take Punk's place but win the World Heavyweight Championship?

This guy is making me laugh-- how would MVP be the title holder at all EVER, whether it went over or not? Wouldn't it be, at the least, Jeff Hardy? MVP didn't pin anyone. Even WWE.com says as much:
Hardy was the first to become the interim WWE Champion when he pinned The Brian Kendrick. Next, Kendrick turned the tables by pinning Hardy to claim the title.
Then, it was The Game who claimed the title by delivering a Pedigree to Kendrick. The title then changed hands multiple times as Hardy (over MVP), Triple H (over Kendrick) and Hardy (over Kendrick) took turns as WWE Champion.
In the end, though, it was The King of Kings who reigned supreme.
Unless he was watching a different ppv than I.
