Raw Fatal Fourway & Kane's Story

Raw on 12/15/08 revealed an interesting new Kane & WWE Diva Kelly Kelly storyline this past Monday. After an obligatory WWE Divas tag match, Kane began to stalk Kelly and acted as if there was something between them. As Kelly Kelly cringed from Kane backstage, she gave support to the fact she's seeing someone, a mystery man. Later in the night, Kane took out frustration on The Miz, and it was speculated The Miz was the one. Backstage, Kelly told her fellow divas Candice and Mickie that this idea was preposterous. So who could the mystery man be? I'm going to speculate that this mystery man is CM Punk. It sets up a new feud between Kane and Punk. It gives Kane either the opportunity to interfere in Punk's IC title fight with Regal, or for Kane to go after Punk as the champ. There's really a short list of people that Kelly's mystery man could be, but it makes for an interesting story nonetheless.

Another possibility for Kelly's interest seems to be Shane McMahon. We all know Kane and Shane have had their past battles. Shane left the scene a few weeks ago, but why not have a diva dating a boss? Most other characters on Raw have feuds or stories going on. She could be seeing Evan Bourne, but he was attacked by Mike Knox. So was Mysterio, and the Mysterio vs Kane story is well overdone. HBK is working for JBL. It's doubtful Kelly is seeing a heel, or John Cena who Kane faced a week or so ago. It really leaves Kofi Kingston and CM Punk, but that also brings up the question why would whoever the mystery man is allow Kane to terrorize Kelly? Quite possibly the interest wasn't even at Raw, or Kelly made Kane think she was seeing someone. Definitely an interesting Raw mystery story which always is fun to watch unfold as the weeks go by.

As for next week's WWE Raw, the show will feature four matches in which former WWE & World Heavyweight Champions will face off. The winners of these 4 matches will make up a Fatal Fourway for the following week's Raw, and the winner of that match becomes the #1 contender for John Cena's World Heavyweight title. The title fight will most likely be at the Royal Rumble. Here's a look at the four matchups for next week's Raw:

Rey Mysterio vs. JBL
Shawn Michaels vs. Kane
Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk
Batista vs. Randy Orton

First off, Batista is blatantly being screwed out of title shots. It's hard to say if this is the doing of Stephanie McMahon, but he was promised a rematch against Jericho for the World Heavyweight title, but never given that match. Batista was made to wait until after Armageddon, if he beat Randy Orton that was. Batista did so, but then the following night we discovered that his rematch clause has expired. Strange indeed. Love or hate Batista, the story has been inconsistent but possibly done to delay and build up an inevitable rematch with Cena.

That whole scenario, as well as Batista and Cena teaming up on Raw the other night, would seem to point to Batista winning the whole Fatal Fourway. WWE seems to keep teasing at a Cena vs. Batista rematch, but quite possibly they don't give fans that until a big event. If not the Royal Rumble, then Wrestlemania 25. However, Randy Orton has been on a tear with Team Priceless backing him up. He left Batista with a vicious punt kick to the head on Raw, giving Orton an advantage heading into next week's Raw. Orton did this to CM Punk as well, injuring Punk at the PPV where Punk lost any chance to retain his World Heavyweight title.

The four matches are definitely intriguing and also seem to point to JBL and his new employee winning, so that JBL can order Michaels to beat up others in the Fatal Fourway match. CM Punk has an upcoming Intercontinental Title match, so Jericho will take that matchup. Then there's the wildcard, the Batista vs. Orton round 2. Which way will WWE go with this one? For the sake of predictions let's go with Batista, Chris Jericho, JBL and Shawn Michaels to make up the Fatal Fourway. JBL and Michaels cancel out, and somehow Batista wins it to move on to face Cena for the title at 2009 Royal Rumble. It gives Orton further reason to criticize Team Priceless as their angry mentor, and gives the fans what they may want, Batista vs. Cena Round 2.
