Here at WWE Characters the Blog you'll find the official results and recaps of each match from the 2008 Armageddon PPV!

Matt Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov

During this match, commentator Matt Striker noted that Kozlov was Matt Hardy's toughest opponent ever, and he may have been right! Matt gave all he could in the match, but it wasn't enough against the undefeated Russian. Kozlov used a barrage of powerful moves combined with submission holds on Matt, eventually targeting the hurt left arm of Hardy. Matt was able to stage a comeback, eventually knocking Kozlov to the outside, but as Matt jumped out at him, Kozlov caught him. Matt was able to counter and slammed Kozlov into the ring post, then hit a Side Effect inside the ring for just a 2 count. Matt's arm started to bleed from a cut he received during the match. Matt went for Twist of Fate, but Kozlov countered. There were several near pinfalls between the two wrestlers. The action went to the corner of the ring, where Kozlov was able to slam Matt's head into the ringpost, then slam him down on the mat for a three count to win it.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov wins via pinfall over Matt Hardy.

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk
Intercontinental Title Tournament Finals

Current Intercontinental Champ, William Regal, came to ringside along with girlfriend to watch the Finals match between Mysterio and Punk. The match had a fast and frantic pace between the two quick, high-flying superstars. The match went in and out of the ring several times, with each superstar mounting offense. At one point, Mysterio used a missile dropkick which sent Punk to the outside. Rey followed with a suicide dive to crash into Punk outside the ring, then rolled him back in. After a cross-body lateral press, Mysterio and Punk exchanged near pinfalls in the ring, continuing the exciting pace. After Punk dropped Mysterio face first on the turnbuckle, Rey almost stole a win with a pinfall there. As the match continued, Punk went for GTS but Rey countered and sent Punk into the ropes for a 619. Rey did a springboard splash off the top rope onto Punk but only got a 2 count. Punk was finally able to get Mysterio into the GTS and hit the finisher on Rey to score the winning pinfall. CM Punk now moves on to face Intercontinental Champion, William Regal.

Winner: CM Punk wins via pinfall over Rey Mysterio to become #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title.

The next segment at the Armageddon Pay-Per-View featured JBL and his continual offer to buy Shawn Michaels as his employee. In weeks past on Raw, JBL made the offer to Shawn Michaels to come work for him, as he was getting old and his career couldn't last much longer. JBL came out to the ring at Armageddon and introduced the crowd to his "newest employee", Shawn Michaels. HBK got in the ring and began speaking to the crowd about how even he is not immuned to the bad economy right now. Michaels informed everyone that he spent his money on the good life as well as paying for all his own surgeries. Michaels said despite not liking JBL overall, he's good financially and working for him is in his best interest. Michaels says this move will help him put his kids through college and save his brother and sisters' homes from foreclosure. JBL extended a handshake and Michaels shook as the crowd booed and chanted things like "you sold out" at Michaels.

Finlay vs. Mark Henry
Belfast Brawl

In this match between the two ECW stars, the only way to win is pinfall or submission. Finlay showed up alone to the match, in which both men used all sorts of weapons against their opponent. Henry punished Finlay inside and outside the ring, but as the action went back inside, Henry sent Finlay to the corner. Finlay countered using a trash can to hit Henry, then hit him with a series of Kendo stick shots. Finlay hit Henry with a DDT, then kicked a trash can into his head. During the match, Finlay went at Henry with his Shilaleigh, but Henry countered, then snapped the shilaleigh in half. Mark Henry was able to regain control and put Finlay down on the mat in the corner to attempt a seated Splash off the ropes. Finlay avoided the move, and Henry eventually cinched a Bear Hug around Finlay. Just then, Hornswoggle showed up near ringside. An angry Mark Henry sent Finlay into Hornswoggle, causing Horny to disappear under the ring. Henry then started beating Finlay unmercifully using a trash can and right-hand punches. Henry tossed some steel steps into the ring, then went to hit Finlay with a chair. Finlay countered using a dropkick, then Hornswoggle tossed him a fresh new shilaleigh. Finlay clocked Henry with the shilaleigh then scored the winning pinfall.

Winner: Finlay wins via pinfall over Mark Henry in the Belfast Brawl.

Batista vs. Randy Orton
#1 Contender for World Heavyweight Title

In this match, Batista and Orton fought to determine the next #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight title. Team Priceless members Manu and Cody Rhodes accompanied Orton down to the ring for the match. Early on, after Orton was able to send Batista to the outside, Manu and Rhodes came into play attacking Batista. The referee caught their involvement and ejected both men from ringside. The two men continued their match with a series of counters and near falls. Orton worked on Batista's knee and beat him up in and out of the ring. At one point in the ring, Orton was ready to deliver his Punt Kick on Batista who was down on the mat. Batista avoided the move and sent Orton into the ropes. From the middle rope, Batista began to pound Randy Orton with a series of punches. Orton was able to hoist Batista up on his shoulders, but Batista wisely countered it and hit the Batista Bomb to finish off Orton.

Winner: Batista wins via pinfall over Randy Orton to become the new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight title.

Chris Jericho vs. John Cena
World Heavyweight title

The World Heavyweight title match started Cena and Jericho staring one another down and trash talking, just prior to the bell. As the match got underway, the two superstars exchanged moves inside before Jerich orolled to the outside. Cena followed him out and back into the ring, allowing Jericho to start beating on Cena. As the match came towards its finish, Jericho attempted a Superplex on Cena off the corner. Cena managed to counter out then hit a leg drop off the corner onto Jericho. Cena signaled for the FU as Jericho got out of a pinfall. Jericho countered Cena's attempt and hit the Code Breaker, but only could get a count of 2 on the champ. After a near pinfall, Cena managed to hit the FU but both men were down on the mat from the move. The ref started a double count, until Cena went to attack Jericho.

Chris Jericho managed to counter Cena again, rolling into a small package. Cena kicked out, then went for the STFU submission. Jericho again reversed Cena and got him into Walls of Jericho. Cena crawled towards the ropes to break it, but Jericho yanked him back to center of the ring. Cena finally managed to reverse the submission and got Jericho into the STFU. After Jericho tapped out, Cena was still World Heavyweight Champion.

Winner: John Cena wins via submission over Chris Jericho to retain the World Heavyweight title.

Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Edge
WWE Title Triple Threat match

Jeff Hardy, Triple H and Edge faced off in the main event, a Triple Threat match for the WWE title. This match became a fast-paced affair involving all 3 men, as well as Vladimir Kozlov and his earlier opponent, Matt Hardy. The action went to the outside with the Raw and Smackdown announce tables both being ripped apart and HHH, Hardy and Edge being bounced off them by each other. Vladimir Kozlov came down to the ring to try to get involved in the match, yanking HHH outside. Matt Hardy soon showed up to go after Kozlov. As Jeff climbed onto the top turnbuckle, Kozlov was able to shove him off to the outside. Back in the ring, Edge was able to Spear down Triple H. Edge was about to go for a Con-Chairto attempt on HHH, but Jeff Hardy was back on the apron and hit Edge with his own chair shot. Hardy then climbed to the top for a Swanton on Edge, but Triple H was quickly up to knock him off. HHH hit the Pedigree on Edge, but Jeff was able to quickly do a Swanton off the corner ropes and grab the winning pinfall. Jeff Hardy is your new WWE Champion!

After his victory, Jeff high-fived fans and threw his elbow sleeves into the crowd, then climbed to the top of the Armageddon set at the top of the ramp to celebrate.

Winner: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall over Edge to become the new WWE Champion.

Congratulations to all of tonight's winners, especially Jeff Hardy for finally capturing that WWE Championship belt! It's been a long road for Hardy, but things have now culminated in a major title victory. Thank you for viewing the 2008 Armageddon results page! I have John Cena's big match win plan.

For the fist 5%, he does good. Then the next 80% he gets beat up. Another 5%, he come's back. Then for the next 5%, he starts loosing again. Then comes back for about 1%. Then loosing the next 3%. Then, in the last 1%, he pulls off the FU or STFU and wins the match.

Anyone else agree?

Seems like thats the way his matches have gone for some time now, with an occasional surprise FU off the corner ropes. Maybe one of these matches they'll have him mimic his opponents finisher to change things up for the outcome.

Definitely a surprise to see Jeff Hardy win tonight too. Didn't expect WWE to give him this sorta push until maybe WM 25. Happy for Jeff though, as it's been a tough road for him up to this point in his career.

it seems that most of the popular wrestlers do that, they go off good or bad, trade off, depending on how big of a match it is they trade off 2 or 3 more times, then they win in a heroic way, or like the undertaker starts off getting beat up into the turn buckel, flips it beats up the opponate with the bowls, then either fight more or old school, fights somemore gets the tables turned then again and most times taker wins by a big boot, to chokeslam or gates of hell... back to cean, ya man your right mostly its like that, thats why most people get board of the video games
