Raw Preview 12.22.08
Tonight's episode of WWE Raw will feature the start of a special tournament to determine the next #1 for John Cena's World Heavyweight Title. Eight former champions will do battle in one-on-one matchups to produce four winners. These four men will go on to fight in a Fatal Fourway the following week on Raw, with the winner of that becoming Cena's next opponent. Fighting in the four matches tonight will be Rey Mysterio against JBL, Shawn Michaels vs. Kane, Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk, and Batista vs Randy Orton. Who will come out as the four winners from these matches?
Last week's Raw also saw the Big Red Machine Kane begin stalking WWE Diva Kelly Kelly. Kane demanded that Kelly reveal her feelings for him, as he felt a connection when they presented at the 2008 Slammy Awards several weeks ago. Kelly told Kane they were just presenting an award, and also revealed she was seeing someone. From there, Kane demanded Kelly tell him who she is currently seeing, but Kelly remained silent. Kane went on a rampage afterwards as he attacked The Miz in the ring following a tag match. Kelly told her fellow divas that she's not seeing The Miz. What will Kane and Kelly's next moves be on tonight's Raw? Will this play a part in Kane's match against Shawn Michaels? Will fans see the identity of Kelly's mystery man?
In the four match tournament to determine new #1 contender for Cena both JBL and his new employee, Shawn Michaels, will fight in matches. How will their new agreement impact the results of their matches? The most anticipated match of the night may be between Batista and Randy Orton. The two met at Armageddon with Batista able to defeat his nemesis in Round 1. Orton proceeded to attack Batista on last week's show, slapping him in the face backstage to lure him out to the arena. Once The Animal was out in the open, Cody Rhodes and Manu ambushed him and it was a 3 on 1 assault. John Cena came to Batista's rescue, but later in the night during a 3 on 2 handicap tag match, Orton again gained the upperhand on Batista. Following his RKO, Orton delivered a vicious punt kick to Batista's head, leaving the Animal wounded on the mat. Will Batista be prepared to go tonight, or will he be sidelined like CM Punk was months ago?
